March Adventure: I Can Move Mountains
NEW ISLAND: CAHYPDO
Who: Everyone!
What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

We Turn the Tide
As of March 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Cahypdo.
There is a mana pool situated on E5, to the island's south.
Most of E5 is overcome by a crooked sprawl of coastal cliffs, rocky bumps and swells that make the area a prime spot for tidepools. If one ventures to the region's eastern areas, they're certain to find all manner of marine creatures dwelling in the miniature ecosystems: crabs, clams, starfish, anemones.
If they go east, they'll be greeted by a soft expanse of warm sand. In the distance, the lumpy presence of buildings might be visible on just the next square over. But the local population are more than a little startled to have visitors, and you're bound to see a few curious members of their village wandering out to say hello. None of them, one will note immediately, are armed; either it doesn't occur to them that visitors might be hostile, or they have perfect confidence that hostile visitors aren't a concern.
You can find more information on the Roaka, the inhabitants of Cahypdo, on the island's OOC information. In the meantime, there will be a top-level below for NPC interaction, for those interested in making first contact!
And May Death Find You Alive
Now, we did mention on the island's introductory info post that Cahypdo's landscape isn't altogether stable. The soft sands and soils are prone to sinkholes and even quicksand in dire instances, and those who scale either of the mountains risk being overtaken by landslides and avalanches.
Which is why, on March 15th, there will be a rather sizable earthquake. Sizable enough to cause both mountains to shed heaping piles of slag and debris which may very well wipe out any brave traveler who was currently scaling either peak...or crush any innocents below who don't get out of the way quickly enough.

You may also use this log as a catch-all for reactions to the earthquake and what assistance you might offer, if any. Or if you simply end up getting in everyone's way. Not that we'd expect that of anyone here, oh no. Not us.
Welcome to the island of Cahypdo! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! You may also use this log as a reaction to the events on the [DATE] and subsequent efforts to help, if you wish. the roaka | ota | please list the date of your desired interaction!
[If you arrive on Cahypdo on the 10th, you will certainly see a few curious Roaka as they congregate in investigation, largely on the beaches of E5, the site of the mana pool. They will be happy to greet you, if you approach them.]
[From the 11th to the 14th, you can can approach many of the Roaka virtually anywhere on Cahypdo. They tend to be scattered throughout the island: maintaining the buildings and docks and small, simple rafts of their fishing villages, planting and gardening, and tending to the farmland at the island's heart. You're likely to find most of them in their villages (to the north or south, or in the center) if you wish to talk.]
[From the 15th onward, you can find plenty of Roaka making repairs to their damaged buildings, as well as clearing debris and felled lumber from the base of either mountain. They will be grateful for any assistance.]
10th
Still, it is what it is. He will still go over to see what it's like, at least. When he arrives - well, he's not one to be easily put off by appearances, or to assume that anything alive isn't a person until proven otherwise. The fact that a few of the Roaka are probably taller than him is actually sort of neat! Perhaps this island will not be so bad after all.]
Howdy! [He starts to approach and calls out from a fair distance, the better to see if they are averse to him coming closer.] I hope you do not mind our coming over - we are all very curious about your island!

Provided the natives do not show them hostility or otherwise indicate that their presence is unwanted, they will quickly make their way to the village nearest the mana pool.
Eventually, they will attempt to approach someone.)

She just has so many questions. Do they change color in the fall? Are all trees sentient? Are the ones on Enso able to speak, but no one's paid attention to them until now? Wild theory that she doesn't want to test. Someone else can do that.
Maybe they want sea grapes?? Maybe they don't. Doesn't matter now, because she's flicking a clump across the ground, towards their roots, to see if that's a good way to communicate. She could've said hi, probably, but tossing food is pretty much the universal way to say hello.]
Do you eat this stuff? [Or maybe] Do you like to eat sunlight?

But he was determined to not let things get to him and so a couple of days later he was back. On his own this time and carefully approaching one of the villages, a basket of fruit in his arms.] Hello! [He smiled brightly at one of them nearby. Meeting other people on these islands was sometimes a good thing, sometimes an awful thing. Hopefully this would be the former.]

I beg your pardon, but is there anything that would be particularly helpful to fix first?
[He's incredibly hesitant about asking, but there's nothing in his appearance or tone to reveal that. Not showing any kind of weakness has been drilled into him for far too long to allow that.]

Oh! And he's got a saw! Good thing he didn't throw any of the stuff in the knapsack away, even though it's mmmmostly useless to him. Someone saw fit to give him a saw, so he can, like, cut driftwood down? If need be?
He's just real glad that, aside from the place being unstable as fuck, this island isn't trying to kill them.] Just keep pointing me in the right direction, big guy.

Of course, he doesn't have a thing to offer and he doesn't want anything in return (other than a way home), but one thing he does have is a head full of stories. Maybe he'll have made a few new friends by the time he leaves?? Maybe they'll turn out to know what's really going on. He waves cheerfully at the first Roaka he sees.]

That said, he asks around about the people who have been around, what's happened, and he can't not do something when people are in distress. He ends up moving towards the activity, sheepishly keeping his head down until he can find his way to where the damage occurred. He steps forward, clearing his throat.]
Uhm-- hello. I'm one of the visitors from the other island, uhm, I'm sure you've heard of us-- is there anything I can do to help clear this? I know my appearance doesn't suggest it, but I can lift or hold something rather heavy on your behalf.

closed to yasha & beau
Oh well. The adventure continues and they're bound to hit something eventually, though she's getting a little more nervous by the look of all the unknown animal prints.
But that's a problem for future them. Nothing scary around now and her companions are tough, so she simply concentrates on the bzz, bzz, bzz in front of her and-
Misses catching a bee. That's probably for the best, but she turns around excitedly and says-]
Did you see it? That cool bug? It was saying 'Hello Yasha and Beau and Ren.'
[It was not.]
no subject
She's staying near the middle, not too far from Yasha, but not so far that Ren can run off into the sun and they'd be responsible for losing her forever.]
Uhh, yeah, sure, it was totally doing that.
[She whips her head around to see if Yasha was looking, pointing in the vague direction of where Ren was.]
Did you see that, Yasha? There was a bee.

keith & wash & church
[To be perfectly fair to Church, magic doesn't exist in his world, so Harry Potter-ing himself through what is apparently not piss water via flower to a whole new island that just appeared one day is...hoo boy, it's definitely up there. (And yet, probably still not the weirdest.)
He's also mostly here because Wash, in his typically paranoid state, seems not terribly eager to leave him to his own devices for too long.
Moving past the pool, of course, is their goal, to discover what all is here and what new things are apparently going to kill them. It's not hard to notice the tallest of the village buildings, and that's what Church hones in on first. Some of them seem like houses or huts, sure, but what's the point of the towering ones? He knocks on the side. Sure does sound like wood, buddy, dunno what you were expecting.]
So, we're definitely not the first ones here. Is this...common?

[Mr. Tortured Amnesiac Shell Of An A.I. In A Robot Body, And Also Based On Wash's Old Boss.]
[He's already pretty sure he's going to regret this, but if they're going to adventure, they should probably make sure that everyone knows who everyone is.]
Keith, this is...Church. He's from home. [In case that wasn't obvious.] Church, Keith.

tim wright | one ota, one closed
[Because he's not one for setting out unarmed in uncharted territory, Tim has a spear in one hand. He also extricates his pauldron, strapping it in place before reshouldering his pack.]
[In the absence of anything else to say, he settles for something both neutral and practical.]
All right. Does everyone here...know each other?
[Please someone tell him Karako's actual name.]
[Earthquakes aren't what he'd call an uncommon situation. The magnitude of this one was bigger than he's used to, enough to damage some of the buildings in the area.]
[Fortunately, Tim has one marketable skill that he's been refining since he got here, and that skill involves carpentry.]
[So for the most part, he can be seen frequenting the fishing village to the south, as well as the parts of Elower that have been built into the mountain, pitching in a helping hand where he can. Clearing debris, carefully removing damaged supports from the towering structures, and helping put new ones down, when he can.]
[You can help too, if you want. He has a couple of new tools he's been looking to try out anyway.]
no subject
Once.
In a dream.
The bad news is that Karako got them both stung by approximately 3278492 dream bees because he sprayed an entire shaken can of dream Faygo all over the dream swarm.
So to answer Tim's question, Karako stops dead... then points at Chip like he's just noticed them.]

Asgore | second one is ota
[The mountainside here is crumbling, and it makes for difficult terrain. Asgore almost regrets inviting quite so many people along on what seems to be, perhaps, not the safest trip. But he'd seen them along the way, and of course he'd made introductions, and from there it only seemed like the natural thing to do to invite them all along to explore on the new island.
And he does enjoy the company! Plus, seeing a mountain from this side is an experience he's glad to have. It would probably be a little morbid to say that out loud, he thinks...although Wesker and Krauser are here, so maybe all bets are off.
There's a nice view of the forested valley, even though they have not quite started up the mountain in earnest. Asgore's mostly focused on his immediate surroundings.]
Oh! Look! I believe those plants up there are fruiting! [OFF HE GOES LIKE A MOUNTAIN GOAT]
March 15th; villages
[Obviously, Asgore must help out with the repair efforts after the hurricane. The Roaka have been so kind!
He has no particular skill in carpentry, but his size and strength make him generally helpful in situations like this. He can often be found carrying things or helping to carry debris. He also got that very sticky spray paint in return for the Red Team's work on inking the island. Perhaps that could be used to help make some of the repairs?
And, of course, if anything needs incinerated, he is here for the job!]

Well, not really so epic, just a few miles walk on the new island with the friendly fronds. He hasn't brought much--he doesn't need much. Backpack, mildly magical knife, blanket, deck of skeleton cards... more than enough, even if he chooses to camp out. (Chances are he'd be nagged into changing his mind, anyway.)

But! Exploring and seeing what there is to be seen is certainly something to do. So he's grateful for the chance.
And the company.
They've made decent progress, despite the rather rocky terrain, but at the moment Alfor has lagged behind his more industrious companions, distracted by a small tidal pool and a scurrying little crab hanging out inside it. It's small and cute, and Alfor considers poking it. Yeah, he's going to poke it.]
