We Turn the Tide
As of March 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Cahypdo.

There is a mana pool situated on E5, to the island's south.

Most of E5 is overcome by a crooked sprawl of coastal cliffs, rocky bumps and swells that make the area a prime spot for tidepools. If one ventures to the region's eastern areas, they're certain to find all manner of marine creatures dwelling in the miniature ecosystems: crabs, clams, starfish, anemones.

If they go east, they'll be greeted by a soft expanse of warm sand. In the distance, the lumpy presence of buildings might be visible on just the next square over. But the local population are more than a little startled to have visitors, and you're bound to see a few curious members of their village wandering out to say hello. None of them, one will note immediately, are armed; either it doesn't occur to them that visitors might be hostile, or they have perfect confidence that hostile visitors aren't a concern.

And May Death Find You Alive
Now, we did mention on the island's introductory info post that Cahypdo's landscape isn't altogether stable. The soft sands and soils are prone to sinkholes and even quicksand in dire instances, and those who scale either of the mountains risk being overtaken by landslides and avalanches.

Which is why, on March 15th, there will be a rather sizable earthquake. Sizable enough to cause both mountains to shed heaping piles of slag and debris which may very well wipe out any brave traveler who was currently scaling either peak...or crush any innocents below who don't get out of the way quickly enough. The Roaka will, at this point, politely ask for your help in repairing and rebuilding any structural damage that has been done their buildings, as well as the general clearing of debris from the farmland at the island's heart. In return, they will gladly offer you some of their food and shelter, assist you with island exploration, and even extend an invitation to certain upcoming festivities they have in mind. Perhaps a celebration for surviving the earthquake...?

You may also use this log as a catch-all for reactions to the earthquake and what assistance you might offer, if any. Or if you simply end up getting in everyone's way. Not that we'd expect that of anyone here, oh no. Not us.

[She shoots Yasha a very pointed frown as she gives Ren very wrong information she's sure the girl will hold on to for the rest of her life, despite any protests she may give. Damnit, Yasha, why would you do her like this.]

No I don't! I need action! I'm not a scrub!

[But she is actually distracted when Ren starts wiggle pointing, and she drops her hand as she moves forward to investigate.]

Hey, this doesn't actually look like it's on the farmland out here. Is it a weed?

[It looks like it has berries on it of some kind, what are those... she crouches down to poke at them experimentally.]

(Yasha feigns innocence, swinging arms contentedly with Ren as they go, but her mouth is twitching a little at the corners. It's very hard not to laugh, especially when Beau is immediately interested by the plant that Ren painstakingly points out with her foot, balancing precariously.)

Hey! Don't eat those, (she calls after Beau, squinting at the plant she's touching. Not that she knows what it is, or anything, she's really the wrong person to ask about identifying anything green.)

Just in case. It could be poisonous. (Everything that 'grew' in Xhorhas certainly was.)

[She is going to hold onto this information for the rest of her life, thanks. And it looks like the plant's working as its own semi-distraction, just as nature and Ren intended. Sit there quietly and stare at the poison while she swings arms with Yasha.

And honestly, Ren was about to pluck one with her toes to pop into her mouth, but at the It could be poisonous, she immediately recoils back. Nah fam, she ain't about to test that terrible theory.]

We can loot a lot and ask someone else if they're treasures or food.

I don't just put everything I see in my mouth, guys.

[She's impulsive and fast and wants to touch things but she's not a baby, gosh. Beau does sniff at it though, feeling like she recognizes this but not able to really put her finger on it.]

Pretty sure I know this one though, it looks like, uh...

[Beau plucks off one of the berries, squishes it between her fingers... and grins.]

Oh, fuck yeah!

[She turns back to them, extending the (still wet) seed in her hand- a coffee bean.]

[barberian]

(Yasha just hums, because she's been tagging along with the Nein for long enough now to have seen some shit.

But hey, no time to get into that, because Beau's found–)

Is... that coffee?

(She comes closer, and picks the little bean from Beau's forefinger, crushing it between index and thumb. It smells really good, and she sighs.) Wow. It is. Good find, Beau.

[catpiper]

Coffee?

[Everyone seems pretty entranced by this weird little bean-enough to make Ren pluck one of the flowers and mimic Beau's actions, until she also has a tiny bean in her hand.]

Is that candy?

[lesbeau]

Yeah it's coffee!

[She brings the bean in to sniff at it, even though it doesn't even smell like coffee right now, it smells like Wet. But that doesn't make her not excited.]

It's kind of candy. It's like, you know tea? Where you like, put leaves in water and it makes a drink? This stuff is kinda like that. You grind it and it makes a drink, but you can also like, eat them sometimes.

[barberian]

It isn't sweet.

(It's very good but it isn't like candy at all, so she's not sure why Beau wouldn't lead with that. Plus the beans are quite slimy, having come out of the fruit. Yasha picks another berry, peeling it back with her fingernails. There's so many plants, once she raises her head to look at them.)

... Do you think we can just take them?

[catpiper]

[It's kind of candy is all she hears before rubbing the grimy seed between her palms, to get the wet yuck off, before popping it right into her mouth. Whatever explanations that follow? She barely hears. Even the potential theft discussion. It's all the crunch, crunch, crunch of this gross seed in her mouth and, unwilling to simply spit it out, she just. Keeps crunching.

Crunching away, even as the bitter taste fills her whole mouth.

Whatever yall, keep talking about this stuff. She'd be happier if they left it here forever. This is Bad. And she hates it. And that's all over her face. Horrible, terrible, bad.]

[The fact that Ren just goes for it and makes that incredible ass face makes Beau immediately laugh, a burst of harsh noise that makes her want to rock back on her feet and really lose it. Is she laughing at a child? Yes. Does she feel bad for it? Not especially.]

Oh my god, you're not just supposed to put it in your mouth if I say it's kinda candy, holy fuck.

[She's wiping it off on her pants now to get all the goop off.]

Sometimes people just eat these though, right? But they usually cover them in chocolate first, so maybe this isn't as good without that. Or is that just a special kind?

[barberian]

I mean, you have to soak them first...

(They really aren't ready to eat straight off of the plant. Yasha watches Ren chew her way through her bean with slight amusement, impressed that she doesn't immediately spit it out... and then exasperated when she continues to try and crunch it, her little expression scrunching up. It must taste so bad.)

Ren, it isn't going to get any better. They aren't roasted.

[catpiper]

[Don't say sOMETHING is CANDY THEN. Beau's metaphorically taking candy from a child, in spirit, by saying it was going to be delicious to begin with. Nevermind Yasha had tried to say otherwise.

This is the worst thing on earth and they should just. You know. Leave it. Leave this terrible food for another islander.]

You should roast them all now. They're all very bad.

[HORRIBLE. The little grains are stuck in her teeth and that bitter taste remains and she's just going to eat a freaking leaf. That'll get rid of this grainy yuckiness maybe-don't mind her. Littlefoot ate treestars. Why not Ren? It's like salad. That's good for you. That's why she grabbed two to shove in her mouth and in between leaf bites, asks-]

Will they taste like candy then?

[lesbeau]

[Come on Ren don't you just want to eat anything?? Get on her food level! Or well, she does by just cramming leaves in her mouth, which Beau does not even attempt to stop. This is why these two cannot be moms. They're not coordinated enough for this.]

I think if you cover anything in chocolate it becomes candy. On account of the uh, chocolate.

[She's looking at the plants though, still delicate. There's a few here, but probably not enough to make an entire cup. But if they take the plants...]

We should take these. The Roaka don't even come out here. If they complain we'll give 'em something from Enso.

[barberian]

(How is Yasha the only voice of reason here.)

Coffee beans aren't sweet. Or candy, they're... coffee, they taste bitter. Even after they're roasted, you know?

Sorry. (Ren is eating leaves now, she doesn't care. Yasha sighs, and puts her hands on her hips.)

If they wanted them, they could have taken them all this time. We don't have to give them anything.

[catpiper]

[Meanwhile, she has no idea why they're even talking about stealing it. Just leave it here-it's clearly tree food. It tastes nasty and it's not a treasure, so what's the point??

Well, they see something she doesn't, so while she keeps gnawing on those leaves, she also grabs a handful of those little bean flowers to put in her pocket.

She might as well get a head start on the looting.]

[lesbeau]

[Because so often Beau cannot be trusted to not just say shit, and Ren will just do anything that is presented to her. It's a bad combination, frankly. At least Yasha has smart ideas, aka just fucking stealing shit, and Beau nods approvingly.]

Cool. We got anything to carry 'em in right now? If we just rip 'em out they'll probably die.

[barberian]

Um...

(Not really, huh. But then Yasha unwinds her shawl from around her neck and knots the ends together; it makes a pretty good sling-esque holder.)

We can put them in here. They'll be fine until we can get them back.

... Right?

You can eat things until fuzzy stuff starts to grow on them. Then it tastes very bad.

[They just have to watching out for mold and rotting. That probably won't happen by the time they get back to Enso, but if it does, she's an expert. She'll be the canary in the mold mine.]

I'll say 'look, look' if they turn weird colors.
