March Adventure: I Can Move Mountains
NEW ISLAND: CAHYPDO
Who: Everyone!
What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

We Turn the Tide
As of March 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Cahypdo.
There is a mana pool situated on E5, to the island's south.
Most of E5 is overcome by a crooked sprawl of coastal cliffs, rocky bumps and swells that make the area a prime spot for tidepools. If one ventures to the region's eastern areas, they're certain to find all manner of marine creatures dwelling in the miniature ecosystems: crabs, clams, starfish, anemones.
If they go east, they'll be greeted by a soft expanse of warm sand. In the distance, the lumpy presence of buildings might be visible on just the next square over. But the local population are more than a little startled to have visitors, and you're bound to see a few curious members of their village wandering out to say hello. None of them, one will note immediately, are armed; either it doesn't occur to them that visitors might be hostile, or they have perfect confidence that hostile visitors aren't a concern.
You can find more information on the Roaka, the inhabitants of Cahypdo, on the island's OOC information. In the meantime, there will be a top-level below for NPC interaction, for those interested in making first contact!
And May Death Find You Alive
Now, we did mention on the island's introductory info post that Cahypdo's landscape isn't altogether stable. The soft sands and soils are prone to sinkholes and even quicksand in dire instances, and those who scale either of the mountains risk being overtaken by landslides and avalanches.
Which is why, on March 15th, there will be a rather sizable earthquake. Sizable enough to cause both mountains to shed heaping piles of slag and debris which may very well wipe out any brave traveler who was currently scaling either peak...or crush any innocents below who don't get out of the way quickly enough.

You may also use this log as a catch-all for reactions to the earthquake and what assistance you might offer, if any. Or if you simply end up getting in everyone's way. Not that we'd expect that of anyone here, oh no. Not us.
Welcome to the island of Cahypdo! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! You may also use this log as a reaction to the events on the [DATE] and subsequent efforts to help, if you wish. Well, it looks like they built them to be easily pieced back together.

Makes a lotta sense, yeah. But you’d think they’d get tired of it sooner or later. [No, Erika, that’s just because you would.] ‘Least it’s not too much of a pain, as building crap goes.
no subject
Not a whole lot different from the usual maintenance I'm pulling around Denny, anyway.
[And this time they might get something out of it. Always good to stay on the good side of the locals.]
no subject
She snorts.] Yeah, and that ability to not just-- get super fed up, instantly, is why you're the one running that place.
[That probably qualifies as a compliment.]
no subject
[It's a far cry from the days where he'd let his own inertia kill him, if it could, and very nearly had on several occasions. He's obtained, and retained, enough self-awareness to realize that it's those periods of fixed stillness, where he doesn't have the benefit of a routine to institutionalize him into being useful, where he's at his worst.]
no subject
[She's saying this with very little knowledge of this guy, but he does strike her as kind of a busybody.]
no subject
I dunno. I might surprise you. ["Doing nothing" was one of his singular capacities back in Sol, after all.]
no subject
no subject
[Counterpoint:]
Have you?
no subject
Speaking of which. She snorts.] Sometimes. When I got time.
no subject
[Day to day survival, keeping watch on kids that might need it...it's a full-time job. Doesn't afford much time for relaxing, or anything else.]
no subject
[She wouldn't be surprised if Tim has accumulated like, five more kids since she last checked. It's almost hilarious how much he reminds her of Grant sometimes.]
no subject
[Officially. Unofficially, he's also periodically checking in on something like...yeah, four or five, maybe. He has honestly stopped keeping track.]
I mean, they're the only two living with me.
no subject
How many not living with you, but that you're low-key obsessed with and gotta check in on all the time?
no subject
[Obsessed. He's not Jay. He actually pays attention to things outside of a singular tunnel-vision end-goal, god.]
Like you're one to talk.

no subject
[She is NO BETTER.]
no subject
Second, I'm not full-time parenting! I'm, like-- full-time cool-aunt-ing, or something, you're the only parent here.
no subject
[If he's gonna get that crap, then so are you, okay.]
Being related doesn't really have any bearing on it one way or another, anyway.
no subject
It does! Because it means it'd be even shittier if I wasn't willing to look after them. Meanwhile,it seems like you're just kinda collecting random kids because they're here. Which, to be clear, isn't a bad thing. That's probably objectively great, actually. [Not that that means she won't make fun of him for it.]
no subject
[The islands probably have like, ten kids on them, right? It's a vague estimate, but his conceptualization of how many people are actually on the islands is also vague, thanks to the ever-changing number.]
So why're you making a thing out of it?
no subject
I mean, one, because actually, one guy looking after that many of them does seem statistically avoidable. If it's unavoidable, it's just... you. Not the number of people here.
Second, 'cuz it's... a joke? Y'know, the whole joking thing, that I'd figured we were doing here.
no subject
[That's a lie. He actually has both; he just fails to recognize the latter most of the time. It's a killer sort of gallows humor, though, when he manages to recognize it.]
no subject
Anyway, now you know: I was joking. 'Course, I take it this means you were totally serious about me being a parent now.
[She really doesn't like that word.]
no subject
[The deadpan delivery might make it hard to tell if he's joking or not, which is a fair concern. Tim's mastery of an utterly flat tone of voice has saved him from many a side-eye in his lifetime.]
By definition, yes.
