March Adventure: I Can Move Mountains
NEW ISLAND: CAHYPDO
Who: Everyone!
What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

We Turn the Tide
As of March 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Cahypdo.
There is a mana pool situated on E5, to the island's south.
Most of E5 is overcome by a crooked sprawl of coastal cliffs, rocky bumps and swells that make the area a prime spot for tidepools. If one ventures to the region's eastern areas, they're certain to find all manner of marine creatures dwelling in the miniature ecosystems: crabs, clams, starfish, anemones.
If they go east, they'll be greeted by a soft expanse of warm sand. In the distance, the lumpy presence of buildings might be visible on just the next square over. But the local population are more than a little startled to have visitors, and you're bound to see a few curious members of their village wandering out to say hello. None of them, one will note immediately, are armed; either it doesn't occur to them that visitors might be hostile, or they have perfect confidence that hostile visitors aren't a concern.
You can find more information on the Roaka, the inhabitants of Cahypdo, on the island's OOC information. In the meantime, there will be a top-level below for NPC interaction, for those interested in making first contact!
And May Death Find You Alive
Now, we did mention on the island's introductory info post that Cahypdo's landscape isn't altogether stable. The soft sands and soils are prone to sinkholes and even quicksand in dire instances, and those who scale either of the mountains risk being overtaken by landslides and avalanches.
Which is why, on March 15th, there will be a rather sizable earthquake. Sizable enough to cause both mountains to shed heaping piles of slag and debris which may very well wipe out any brave traveler who was currently scaling either peak...or crush any innocents below who don't get out of the way quickly enough.

You may also use this log as a catch-all for reactions to the earthquake and what assistance you might offer, if any. Or if you simply end up getting in everyone's way. Not that we'd expect that of anyone here, oh no. Not us.
Welcome to the island of Cahypdo! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! You may also use this log as a reaction to the events on the [DATE] and subsequent efforts to help, if you wish. [Before Chip can elaborate further Karako has started attempting to garrote his horns or something, and while they're annoyed (and maybe defensive of this particular kid knowing Tim well enough to be invited out) they're not so rude as to just sit and watch that go on. Once Tim has a chance to look at the pendant they take a look as well...]
[But they don't hand it back immediately, instead pulling out their Stone of Farspeech and putting it to their ear as if making a call. After a few moments of waiting for the imaginary dial tone, they look up at Tim.]
I don't think his mom has reception to here.
no subject
Karako, huh?
[He watches Chip make an exaggerated "call," eyes slightly raised, and decides that it's going to be best to try and minimize any potential capacities for sniping between the two. Or...from Chip, anyway. He's not sure Karako has other modes besides a placid and enthusiastic kid and a raging knife-tornado.]
Nice to meet you officially, I guess. I'm Tim, and that's Chip.
[He doesn't remember if he ever gave the kid his name, so this is what they're doing now.]
no subject
............................
..........
.... what's a mom?
That's what Karako would ask, if he could ask questions that don't sound like 'honk?'
Since he can't, however, he gives Chip a really long, wary look. He's not sure if that was a joke, and if so, if it was at his expense.
Luckily, if he does have other moods, canon didn't reveal them and therefore they don't exist. So, he takes his pendant back with a bright honk before giving another, more uncertain glance at Chip.]
Honk!
no subject
Yeah, whatever.
[Karako's unsure look gets a faint glower right back before they look away somewhat guiltily. Tim invited Chip and Karako both along on this, and...they don't want to mess up again. They don't want to lose what few friends they do have here.]
no subject
[Actually. Does anyone in this group know what a mom is. Does anyone in this thread actually have a positive experience with an actual mom until recently.]
[Tim glances between the two of them warily, but Karako seems happy enough to move on past something he doesn't understand. Which is fine. Chip has the good grace to look more than a little ashamed at the jab. If Tim has a reprimand, he doesn't say it aloud. He doubts he needs to.]
[Instead, it's time to do what they gathered here to do.]
Let's...get going, then. Stick together and keep an eye out for anything useful. Don't think there's anything dangerous out here, so close to where these people live, but... [...well, Karako's covered with knives.] Chip, are you armed?
no subject
.... honk?
no subject
[They do have their iron knife at their hip, but that's not...really a weapon for most things. Chip fumbles to pull their backpack off their shoulders and digs into it before pulling out their hatchet--really more of a small axe in their hands, which is probably just as well. They cast an unsure look up at Tim, acutely aware of the last time they'd had this out around him.]
Uh...I've still got this.
no subject
[It's better than nothing. And Tim - well, he's got a surplus of weapons if they end up needing them.]
You guys end up needing anything better, just let me know. I've got...a few things in here. [He pats the side of his knapsack. He's offering kids some weapons just in case. It's fine.]
I was thinking we'd just move...north, if that sounds good? [Paired with a vague gesture in that direction, for the benefit of a visual aid.]
no subject
The fact that it's crude and blunted didn't strike him as an issue, see.
Which is why this whole exchange is confusing.
But Chip's weapon, as it turns out, is a hatchet--one of the most respectable weapons a clown can carry, and it immediately gives Karako a slightly more favourable opinion of them. Even if they seem... reluctant to reveal it. He's not sure what that is about.
There's a lot he's just resigned himself to not understanding. Sometimes he's lucky, and something happens later that will make X or Y a fragment of his day make more sense. Most of the time it doesn't.
That's just life on an island of aliens!
Tim is pretty good at being clear, though. The gesture helps, for example, because Karako does not know any of his directions relative to where he is right now. Not even one. As soon as they have a planned route, though, he's so ready that he honks and takes off ahead, short legs carrying him over the ground with surprising speed.]
no subject
[Annnd there Karako goes. Chip's nose wrinkles up for a moment before they go over to Tim and reach to take his hand--childish, maybe, but...]
It's...that's fine.
[With the hatchet held tightly just below the blade in one hand, Chip is happy enough to keep up with Tim as they make their way onward.]
...I don't like him.
no subject
[He keeps his tone light and conversational, when he answers.]
Any particular reason why?
no subject
[It's obviously not the only reason, but they sure want to sound like it is--and honestly, it wasn't the best introduction ever.]
Why'd you have to ask him to come?
no subject
[Got me stung makes it sound like a passive thing, rather than something he was going for in any particular way. But Tim can't say, naturally; he wasn't there.]
'Cause I don't think anyone's really looking after him.
no subject
[As for the second part, Chip goes...very quiet for a while. At least a minute, during which time their grip on Tim's hand gets a bit tighter, and they walk a little closer to his side.]
[Karako isn't...he's like some kind of goblin or something, wild and not--not normal, he shouldn't need caring for. He's covered in knives and smells like he hasn't taken a bath for weeks and has mud on his face.]
Looks like he's doing fine anyway.
no subject
[He really is wandering out there all on his own. That's...concerning, except that clearly he can take care of himself, to an extent. He's got enough knives to make do on his own, and his run-in with Tim's darker half was a solemn indication that he's not helpless.]
[But still. Clearly he doesn't have a parent.]
[It's small, but it's enough for Tim to give a shit.]
I don't like the idea of leaving people to fend for themselves, even if they do throw soda at people.
no subject
[Chip grumbles and maintains that tight grip. They don't like this. They don't like Tim taking Karako's side, but...maybe this is just. Them, again. Them being selfish and mean and not normal.]
[And who are they to tell Tim how to act to someone?]
...still don't like him.
no subject
[He's not all that great with levity, but it's something. It's the least - most? - he can do. It's hard enough mediating between a pair of kids with a penchant for knives and destruction, seeing as he's actually done that before. At least this time things seem to be, for the most part, civil.]
