March Adventure: I Can Move Mountains
NEW ISLAND: CAHYPDO
Who: Everyone!
What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

What: Cahypdo appears!
When: March 10th and onward
Where: Cahypdo
Warnings: Tag as you go!

We Turn the Tide
As of March 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Cahypdo.
There is a mana pool situated on E5, to the island's south.
Most of E5 is overcome by a crooked sprawl of coastal cliffs, rocky bumps and swells that make the area a prime spot for tidepools. If one ventures to the region's eastern areas, they're certain to find all manner of marine creatures dwelling in the miniature ecosystems: crabs, clams, starfish, anemones.
If they go east, they'll be greeted by a soft expanse of warm sand. In the distance, the lumpy presence of buildings might be visible on just the next square over. But the local population are more than a little startled to have visitors, and you're bound to see a few curious members of their village wandering out to say hello. None of them, one will note immediately, are armed; either it doesn't occur to them that visitors might be hostile, or they have perfect confidence that hostile visitors aren't a concern.
You can find more information on the Roaka, the inhabitants of Cahypdo, on the island's OOC information. In the meantime, there will be a top-level below for NPC interaction, for those interested in making first contact!
And May Death Find You Alive
Now, we did mention on the island's introductory info post that Cahypdo's landscape isn't altogether stable. The soft sands and soils are prone to sinkholes and even quicksand in dire instances, and those who scale either of the mountains risk being overtaken by landslides and avalanches.
Which is why, on March 15th, there will be a rather sizable earthquake. Sizable enough to cause both mountains to shed heaping piles of slag and debris which may very well wipe out any brave traveler who was currently scaling either peak...or crush any innocents below who don't get out of the way quickly enough.

You may also use this log as a catch-all for reactions to the earthquake and what assistance you might offer, if any. Or if you simply end up getting in everyone's way. Not that we'd expect that of anyone here, oh no. Not us.
Welcome to the island of Cahypdo! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! You may also use this log as a reaction to the events on the [DATE] and subsequent efforts to help, if you wish. But GIRLS....Despite his flirting, Zidane has no interest in Allura besides being friends with her. There's a girl at home, another princess - well, she'd be queen by now - who he has to go home to. And he needs to tell that girl honestly how much she means to him. However, even though he has no interest in dating anyone besides Garnet, pretty women still distract him and he has yet to get out of the habit of flirting - or become fully self-aware about how his flirting can come across to others. That said, he gets the impression that Allura's dad is keeping an eye on him. And considering everyone has to work together and there's the tide to worry about, now's not the time for awkward conversations. So he just says to Allura:] You've got a point there. Let’s gather as much as we can. But how bout of us should keep a lookout while the rest of us pick up stuff? It’s not as if we can’t come back here when the tide’s low again.

I think that's a good idea. We may as well salvage what we can, since there's no knowing what the tide may take out with it otherwise.
[But keeping an eye on the water seems like a good idea too.]
A lookout is likely wise. No sense being part of what is washed out to sea if we can avoid it.

Indeed. [She looks at Dirk, who has climbed up on a rock and away from the rest of them.] ...I assume that is why you're up there, yes?
[Other than her father exuding "protect daughter" vibes over here. She offers a sympathetic look before setting to work, careful not to disturb any crabs. It's weird for her too, but not for a reason these two near-strangers likely suspect.]

I know tides. If I see it starting to turn I can give you a down to the second estimate of the time left on the clock.
[He turns to face the sea and something inside him, some knot of tension unfolds. The sea as merciless as it has been was such a constant of his existence for so long. He knows where he stands with the vast stretch of water. The taste of salt in the air is...home. As much as home could ever be.]
We might want to consider trading some of this wood with the native people. It can't hurt. [They could use it for their housing and that would earn a lot of good will.]

[And with that, he continues to pick up stuff, namely the larger pieces. He doesn't need telling about the crabs but that's probably what happens when you come from vastly different worlds.]
And yeah, trading some of it with the locals definitely wouldn't hurt. Even if it's just for food. [Info about the world and the Storyteller would be nice but he'd have to consider who's already asked and found out said information.]
And maybe we should check with 'em too and find out if these crabs are edible? [In case of the small chance certain types are poisonous. He's not familiar enough with this island or this world to know either way.]
no subject
[Alfor echoes -- because one: what's a second and two: that sounds exceptionally precise.]
It may go towards earning us some goodwill as well, if it turns out to be a useful resource for them.
[A good way to pave the road to diplomatic relations. Something like that.]
Perfect. Then it seems we have a plan.
no subject
[With that answered, she nods.] Indeed. Now, before we simply stand here discussing it...
[Allura gets to work, going for a piece that seems far too large for someone her stature to anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of meeting someone from Altea. She picks it up with minimal effort, though it's likely she won't be able to keep this up for too long. So, she picks up one more piece then begins walking back towards less rocky terrain. Careful as she watches her steps.]

We switch off who is watching the ocean. It’s not too hard to spot. The water will wash closer and closer. The waves get bigger. Keep an eye on that and you’re fine.
Fish and stuff will along come closer. Harder to spot that unless you know what you’re looking for. I can take first watch or help move shit. Your pick.
no subject
As for Dirk suggesting they switch, Zidane has a bunch of wood in his hands but.....]
I can keep watch if you wanna pick up stuff. Or you go first and I take over. Unless the other two wanna keep watch? Whoever does might wanna give their stuff to everyone else though. That'll save having to pick it up if we have to scram.
no subject
[And hopefully they'll have a sense for how nicely or not the ocean is planning on playing after that. He offers Zidane a nod.]
Or we could start something of a collection back far enough from the shore to be out of harm's way? That may help us organize what we find as well.
[And for now he'll see about hefting a few rather large pieces of driftwood as well, following along after his daughter.]
