[Feel free to use this as a catch-all for whatever your character might conceivably be doing here. Are they loitering outside? Delivering supplies/food, or looking to share information about the city under the water? Helping improve the place because god knows it certainly needs it? Cooking? Socializing? Eating? Just wanting to booze it up? I've heard chatter of live music, so whatever you wanna do here, go for it! There are also some newer additions of rudimentary game boards and decks of cards to pass the time.]

[There are nominal rules but if you don't get caught you don't have to deal with them, so you do you.]

Maybe Muffet could give us some pointers. She's good at that kinda thing.

[There's a reason she's responsible for most of the cooking in Denny. Tim sure as hell doesn't manage it.]

Oh. Yes. I suppose we could ask her that.

[Asgore's not entirely sure Muffet likes him very much. They rarely seem to cross paths, and - well, he can't really blame anybody for disliking him, after getting to know Frisk.]

[As far as he's aware, they don't have reason to be at odds, right? Or maybe they do. Maybe he just hasn't been paying enough attention.]

Oh, no, no. I'm sure she would have a good idea - I did not even know she knew how to make liquor!

[He smiles, pushing all of that aside. It's really about Muffet's feelings - as long as she's willing, he has no trouble with her.

(Frankly, he doesn't even really know why he and Tim aren't at odds.)]

Neither did I. But I guess it's not as complicated as you'd think. Just...ferment stuff until it ages right. When we can figure out how to make good coffee, that's when I'll be excited.

[Not that Tim drinks. Not that he can.]

Everybody does seem very interested in coffee! I'm afraid I do not know a lot about it myself - it has never been my preference.

[Like. Obviously.]

But it grows in the same climates as cacao, does it not? I am sure we could at least produce the beans, and then try to figure it out from there.

Caffeine makes most stuff easier to handle.

[Including, say, nicotine withdrawal. Not that he's speaking from experience or anything.]

Might be able to, yeah. Could always ask the Storyteller for some coffee plants. I'm pretty sure some people around here have some, but just...can't figure out how to make it real good coffee yet.

Perhaps I will ask them for a book, then. The text on processing cacao was quite helpful.

[Add that to the list - his garden is getting a bit extensive for one person, but at least it sounds like coffee plants are already around.]

[Tim's thinking along the same lines. He's never played Stardew Valley, but he's got a fair grasp of basic time management.]

You sure you wanna manage growing that much at once?

[Asgore smiles, a little sheepishly.]

Well, if someone else is already growing the coffee, then I hope there is no real need? I have quite a few plants already.

[He wrenches himself out of the memory before he can follow it to its conclusion. That's not happening. He's not allowing that to happen. Not now.]

Well, I guess we'll keep it in mind. See if we can get some sugar, first, since that seems to be pretty much a staple for most things.

Of course, if someone would like me to, I suppose I could find the space.

[But really, even the suggestion that he might prefer not doing so is pretty much the strongest refusal you're going to get from him.]

But yes. Sugar is probably the more important project.

'S good that the cacao can grow, though. Not sure how it might taste without sugar, but I dunno what else you'd use it for. Unless your book...said something about that too?

[Cacao recipes? He's got no idea.]

I did not. But it is used as flavoring in other things sometimes...I believe?

[oh man I had the best Cincinnati chili the other day]

I guess we'll find out.

[Maybe the elves know. They know about spices and cooking and stuff like that, right? He's got no clue.]

Either way, uh - thanks for growing this stuff. Eventually we'll make something worth drinking out of it, probably.

Hey, between the tea and the cacao, you're officially contributing more to Denny than I am.

["Contributing" being the keyword there - Tim's mostly just doing repairs and general maintenance as opposed to bringing anything to the table, figuratively or otherwise.]

Oh, that is hardly true. You are the reason this place exists at all!

[Asgore probably wouldn't have built something like this. He wouldn't have thought of it, or else he wouldn't have wanted to put himself out there so much. It seems, sometimes, like he ought to be taking up more of a leadership role here - but then again, nobody is looking to him for that anymore. It just feels like he's getting away with something.]

It has been very good for us, as a community.

[Community. Right. He's not sure if that's more or less valid based on his original intent in making the place.]

Not everyone in the "community" seems to want to visit, but I guess not everyone would. 'S good that some people are enjoying it, I guess.

I suppose you cannot always make everyone happy.

But certainly it is still worthwhile to provide something, than nothing at all.

I find it quite nice to come here, when I have work like this to do. [Nodding at the yet-unshucked pods.] I enjoy having people around, when I can.

I guess that's part of why I did it. The islets're too...I dunno. They're too quiet.

[They're too isolated. They're like living in Alabama. Isolation is preferable to crowds, but what Tim really prefers is the in-between; the distance of being around conversation, on the fringes of everything else, without ever needing to engage unless necessary.]

[People are usually in their homes, he thinks, when they're on the islets. There's not a lot of gathering, for all that there is a sort of common central yard.]

My home is a little farther out, as well. I chose it for the extra land - of course, that did turn out to be necessary.

I guess if you had to you could move stuff to the farming land that Harv gave us. But I dunno. Kinda adds a whole extra step.

[There's a garden outside the house he shares. Most of it is poisonous flowers, which is why he hasn't really gone near it. He's let...people who know how to garden handle it.]

How, uh, hard is it to take care of flowers here? Does the weather make it more complicated or anything?
