Who: Anyone!
What: Catch-all Denny mingle for the month of July
When: Throughout all of July, generally
Where: Denny
Warnings: Label your stuff if it comes up but otherwise nothing comes to mind
[Feel free to use this as a catch-all for whatever your character might conceivably be doing here. Are they loitering outside? Delivering supplies/food, or looking to share information about the city under the water? Helping improve the place because god knows it certainly needs it? Cooking? Socializing? Eating? Just wanting to booze it up? I've heard chatter of live music, so whatever you wanna do here, go for it! There are also some newer additions of rudimentary game boards and decks of cards to pass the time.]
[There are nominal rules but if you don't get caught you don't have to deal with them, so you do you.]

Agent Texas ★ OTA ★ Will match style
She's also working on a project, something that comes dangerously close to being a craft project if she thinks too much about it, but weaving reeds to make a workout mat is a practical affair. She knows the gym's equipment will mostly be comprised of things made out of logs and such, but she thinks a workout mat will be important for sparring matches and boxing and the like. So she has made a deal to use the wool of Bucky's sheep, Petunia, to stuff the mat with. First she needs to make the thing, though, and so she can be found in the evenings sitting outside the neighboring hut to the Denny, weaving reeds.
All this is not to say Tex will sit there expecting others to bother her while she's working. She's quick to offer a nod of greeting to those who pass by, and a "hello" to those she's more acquainted with. Should a conversation start she'll continue working, just at a slightly slower pace, so she can talk. ]

[Hello to you, too, Michael? He's got a little pile of nuts for his lorby - which it is eating on top of the table because we have health standards here - and a piece of fruit for himself, and he's here now!]
How do you stand having to stop everything to take care of your stupid body all the time?
no subject
In response to his question, she shrugs. ]
I guess I've gotten used to it. At first I would forget until I started feeling shitty, and that was no fun, so I just learned to be more consistent about it. And food tastes good—as long as it's something that tastes good, anyway.
no subject
[He did it socially! Like drinking! If things were still normal, he might have even done it once or twice in the time he's been here.]
Sleeping's a nightmare, though. [.....] What're you making?
no subject
[ She shows him the mat she's weaving when he expresses interest. ]
Working on a mat for the gym. I don't know if it'll be as good as a modern one but at least it'll be something. I'm going to make a second one like this and then sew them together and stuff it full of wool.
no subject
[He peers at the mat, picking at one of the reeds lightly.]
It's for...exercising on...?
no subject
[ His other statement makes her frown slightly. ]
I don't like the idea of being unconscious for so long but it's not like I can help it.
no subject
[He guesses that makes sense? Exercise is something he's basically never done, given that his body is a construct and it wouldn't do anything but make him sweat.]
True. I just put it off until I can't. Even though there's really not a lot to do around here at night.
no subject
How long have you lasted without sleep?
no subject
[He does tend to avoid heavy physical activity, if only because it feels...different, now. It's discomfiting.]
Florida sleeps at night too, but my weird pot is awake.
no subject
Why'd you pick that name for him, by the way?
no subject
[Jason too, but Jason looks normal until you talk to him.]
no subject
You know? I think I get it.
I knew a fellow agent who was named after that state and... Well, yeah. I get it.
[ She doesn't really know if the other agents talked about agents taking on traits of the state they were named after, but it makes sense to her. ]
no subject
[He has no idea what your Agent Florida was like at all, but he can imagine.]
I have a friend from Florida. He's very...interesting.
no subject
no subject
[A creepier one.]
He's harmless, really, just...so very dumb.

It's fried egg, fried egg, gonna get some— Shit, fuck, bad.
Maybe if Klaus had his walkman he wouldn't be getting the worst songs possible stuck in his head at all times. They should open a Radio Shack here.
Wait, back up. Klaus actually traces his steps carefully back a couple feet, because he does see a lot of things that are bad to look at with his eyes on the island(s), but that is a lady stuffing some fluff into some reeds and now he's forgotten what he was doing before.]
...Right now, my money's on "art project." Mostly because if it's actually "bed" I will have to call the police.
no subject
It's a workout mat.
[ Which is totally a reasonable reason to be messing around with this kind of thing. Really! ]
no subject
Scusi?
[That's somehow more unbelievable to him than "bed."]
You don't get enough of that, like... jogging on the beach or whatever? I feel like I just got a workout trying to wake up without dying of sun exposure or something. You know people are going freeform scuba diving as we speak.
no subject
It's for sparring. Sure, we could spar on the sand, but I'd like to have something we can have in the gym once we get it put together, too.
Yes, we're putting together a gym.
[ Deal with it. ]
no subject
Well, I guess of the many ways to waste time as we all wait to mysteriously disappear or whatever, that's at least, uhh, leading towards wasting more time in the future.
Will it feature a sauna? I do love a good sauna.
no subject
[ She returns her attention to the mat as she speaks. She doesn't view it as a waste of time; anyone who comes here in the future can benefit, and it gives her something to do, which is something she wouldn't have otherwise.
As far as this account goes, she doubts he intends to follow through with that, so she's not concerned with needing to follow through on her words. ]
comes to this two weeks later because I am So Slow
The evening time is when people are usually winding down for the night or relaxing and so Shepard finds it a good time to just observe everyone and observe the Denny. It's this sort of observation that gets her watching the woman weaving with curiosity.]
What are you making?
o7
[ She frowned at the work in her hands. ]
I'm starting question whether it's going to work, though.
no subject
[Usage aside, she's gotta say she's pretty impressed with how well she seems to be putting it together with the raw materials in front of her.]
I don't know. You're doing better than I could right now so I'd say you're somewhere on the right track.
