EXPLORATION EVENT: NEVERWERE

When: May 15th to May 18th
Where: Ziziphus, those still on Ensō...and Mu

Then Know That My Life Was Just a Killer Dream
You can find most of the information you need in the OOC info post! In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for your dream worlds, as well as detailing your efforts to free one another. Whether they're on Ziziphus or Ensō at the time of the dreams' capture, your character is free to access as many dreams as you like, as the interlocking mental landscape allows for that sort of crossing over apropos of nothing. And time, of course, is very fluid in dreams - many days, months, and years can transpire in a matter of mere minutes.

Will you fight your way free from Ziziphus's vines or Mu's thrall, or are you content to die in your sleep?

Remember to let us know if your character dies during this event!

I think there might be a couple. [There definitely is, Shion knows how much she likes comic books and always makes sure he adds some to the order] There are some other stories that you might like as well. [Which doesn't stop him also trying to encourage her to love the novels that he loves to read. It's his job as a librarian after all]

[That's intriguing. So intriguing she begins to amble behind the counter, like she works there. Sorry, she just wants to check it out and what are Boundaries.]

What are they? Can I see?

[Boundries are not something that exist in this city, Shion doesn't mind at all. He finds the books that he had thought she would like, they are adventure books about a girl and her cat who solve mysteries in the local neighbourhood. It sounded like something she would enjoy, even if it is definitely a novel and there are no pictures]

I thought you might like these, it is a series of three books.

[Despite the books clearly being at level she should be able to read at, there's a inkling in her little dream soul that makes her-nervous? Unsure? It's a hard feeling to place and she pushes it to the side, taking the books out of his hands to flip through the pages instead.]

Can we read it together?

Of course! [He smiles at her and gestures towards where there are giant beanbags set up for this very acivity! Reading together is fun and even if it might not be her biology homework at least it means she is doing something sort of academic.]

[She immediately plops down on the chair, pulling her legs up to her chest so she can just be One with the beans. It's so cozy-has this always been here? It feels like a cloud.]

Does it have a happy ending?

I haven't read it through to the end yet. [He sinks into the beanbag cloud next to her and opens the book to the first page.]

I'm sure it does though, it sounds like the kind of book where the hero and her cat save the day.

Cats are safe-they always save the day. That's how it is.

[Like, the girl probably helps? But let's be real-feline power is what's going to solve whatever mysteries happen in this story.]

We should skip to the end and see.

It is. [Perhaps not really but Shion's not going to argue. Cats are great and he understands feeling better around animals than people.

He smiles at her and shakes his head.] It's more fun to start at the beginning.

[He's the librarian-he totally knows better, but the end is the best part. Let's be real. It's when you find out someone lives happily ever after and what could possibly be better?

She huddles up in her beanbag chair, glancing over to see The Beginning, since he's so intent on that.]

Do you like doing this kind of thing? Do you read all day?

[This fool asks the librarian.]

I would like to read all day. There's lots of other things I do as well but reading is an important part of my job.

[The most important part. At least in this world.]

What other things do you do? Do you play games?

[COLOR HER CURIOUS-what does a librarian do in their free time? She's only ever seen Shion among the books and doing little else.]

[What does he do all day? For a moment there's a flicker, because that should be an easy question to answer but...]

I like to watch Rat in his shows, I spend a lot of time at the theatre. I like walking on the beach with Aster as well.

[There, see, he does things that are not just being in this library. Everything's fine.]

[Rat feels like a name she should know and yet-

At least she recognizes Aster and while she doesn't know her that well, it warms her heart to know they travel along the beaches together. That's a fun place to be.]

What kind of show? Does he sing?

He performs stories. [Surely Ren knew Rat? He was pretty famous.] Mostly Shakespeare.

[catpiper]

[Those are names that should all sound familiar and yet-

She can't really place Shakespeare's stories or Rat. That's strange? Weird? And she doesn't want to question it because she's distinctly aware they're all words and people she should recognize, even if her memory of all of them is fuzzy. Bizarre.]

Is he performing tonight? Can we see him?

[savedbyasong]

I think he is, of course we can. I'm sure he will be happy to see you. [Because of course Rat knew Ren, why wouldn't Shion's husband know Ren? He spent as much time in the library as Shion did and Ren was always here, always with books that seemed to never get read...]

I can get us some tickets after work.

[Hell yes, a show. She's ready for it all.]

Then I'll stay here until you're off work.

Okay, I'll finish up what I need to do and then we can go and buy tickets. [He stands up.] You can read this while you wait if you want.

[She probably won't, but making sure there are good books surrounding her means one day she might read one.]

[That's fine. She'll sit here in the clutches of this awesome bean bag chair and do, like, absolutely nothing but stare at him from her spot.

For a few minutes. At various points until they leave for the show, he'll find her with the book he picked out for her, enjoying the adventures of the cat and this girl. Good choice, Mr. Librarian.]
