It's time for another store post! Now with like MATH% more employees than ever before. It's Ren's turn to name the store, so the sign declares this venue "Spicy Treasures," with maybe some extra flourishes courtesy of Taako. Here are the warez. If it's simple/small it's probably in stock, but there's a list of more complicated/less in-demand stuff that can be special ordered.

In addition to the above stock list, with the advent of one Magnus Burnsides, you can request hand carved artisanal woodwares. Ducks, uhhh boxes, furniture maybe? Maybe you just want him to pick up some heavy things? Or hunt? Rent-a-Mags. Maybe if you ask nice you can hug Johann for free.

Any one (or more, if Taako can find a way to rope them into working so he can get some peace) of the above-listed losers might be on staff, so you gotta pick. As always it's all barter system all the time here at Spicy Treasures, good luck.

Yeah, Seto doesn't need a guess to figure out what book Crow is talking about.

"Probably? Me and Ren got some water for a dog's garden so they're probably okay with other stuff."

And that's probably when everyone else got stuff? So it should be good to go.

"In that case, I'm thinking we should get some books, more coins and screws, maybe some crayons... oh, something for Quartermaster too, but I don't know what yet."

What do birds like? They like shiny things obviously, but what else do birds like playing with?

Boy is the Storyteller going to regret giving their number out to the raccoon club. But to Seto those are all good ideas.

"What kind of food does Quartermaster like?"

Because that's probably pretty helpful too.

[tomodachi]

"Uhhh..."

Crow turns his head to look at his bird for a moment, frowning.

"I'm... not sure, actually? I've been letting them eat whatever's on the ground, or some of the snacks that I've been sneaking it from whenever you guys are eating something."

Who let this robot boy have a pet...

Who knows, but Seto can't really judge given he doesn't know either. The only kind of birds he knew were crows and the animals just seemed to like pecking at him. But that probably doesn't answer the question.

Oh, but--

"Would seeds be okay? I think I saw that in a book, once."

Somewhere.

[tomodachi]

"Oh, well if a book says so, then that should be it. Right?"

Books are never wrong, no matter which one you go to as a source of information. Or at least that's what Crow had always thought about them before.

Books are always right, even if some of the words were so complicated you had to ask for smaller ones that meant the same thing. Books on stars were fun. Books on "astrology" were harder.

"Yeah, it should be. We could go find some if the Storyteller can't find any."

[tomodachi]

"Yeah, definitely."

Crow plays with the utensils and comb in his hands some more before he looks around.

"So how long are you and Ren gonna hang out here anyway?"

"Until they say I can go, I think."

Seto wasn't 100% sure how all of this worked, aside from 'trade things for other things'. But thank to the Chicken Merchant, he knew how to do that.

[tomodachi]

"What? But that's so lame."

Crow is not in the business of being told to stay put in a place until he's allowed to go, no siree.

"You should ditch and come play with us instead."

Oh, Seto knows that. He was the one who chased Crow around the amusement park for hours, after all.

The 'suggestion' is tempting but Seto doesn't also want to bail on someone who trusted him to keep an eye on the store. Conundrum.

"Can we wait until Lup and Taako come back?"

[tomodachi]

"And how long is that going to be?"

Where are those two, anyway?

That's...a good question actually. Lup and Taako obviously had lives outside of this store and Ren was off being Ren. Seto naturally knew where Ren was but not so much the twins.

"Um, I'm not sure. But they should be back soon."

Maybe. He thinks.

[tomodachi]

Well, knowing Ren is can be very important, that much Crow agrees with. The two elves on the other hand...

"They didn't tell you where they were going?"

[buryyourfriends]

"Um, I think they went out to get more stuff for the store."

Where, exactly that is, Seto doesn't know but he doesn't know much about how stores work beyond what they've told him. Apocalypses mean you don't gotta wait in line for your stuff.

[tomodachi]

"Think we should go look for them... or hey, we could go look for stuff too to bring back for this store thing of theirs?"

That's gotta be much more exciting to do than just standing here, right?

That is the best idea Crow.

"Yeah, that should be okay! And we can be fast so the store isn't alone for too long."

[tomodachi]

Crow is always full of great ideas. In fact, Crow thinks for a moment, before he's unwinding his scarf and carefully plucking both it and his bird that's tucked inside down onto the table of wares.

"Okay now, as Quartermaster, you are in charge until your captain and first mate returns. Got that?"

... The bird simply peeps in response, likely not even understanding what Crow is asking of it here. Crow considers it an affirmative as he then turns to Seto.

"Alright come on, let's go!"

"I know you'll do a good job."

The bird peeps at that too but Seto genuinely believes Quartermaster will indeed do a good job because they're a Good Bird. Meanwhile he'll hold out a hand for Crow to take.

"Okay, let's go find some treasures."

This'll be fine and all.
