Nothing like the smell of rotting ape corpse in the morning

Who: Newt and Everyone Who Either Commented or Is Listed in This Post
What: Searching that Monkey Compound
When: 10/7
Where: Everyone's on a D8
Warnings: Rotting monkey corpses? IDK, tag ur stuff, friendos

"Picking over the remnants of that bloody battle will prove quite advantageous, as long as you don't mind the smell. Not only did the monkeys fashion several abodes mounted in the branches of the trees in the compound, but they had quite a supply of various items on hand. For those who may have been concerned about islet over-crowding, it seems they need not worry; most of the homes remain undamaged, and aside from the strong smell of monkey, are completely habitable."

"Investigating the back of the compound will reveal a very small plot of farmland, where several rows of plants with dark green leaves can be seen growing. Anyone with a knack for identifying useful plants - or anyone who's simply willing to take one for the team and give them a taste - will soon discover that these leaves are the plants from which the monkeys drew their sedative. It makes quite a useful anesthetic in a pinch!"

"The sigil etched deeply onto the door itself will, as the Storyteller warned, be quite effective in keeping people out. The door repels any and all efforts to break through it; those sensitive to magic may note that it does indeed exude a very powerful and dense aura that makes its origins difficult to discern. One thing is clear, however: it will take a great deal more than teamwork between mortals to get through it." ( x )

[Welcome to the Mingle Log, Fam. Around you are the rotting corpses of many dead apes. There's also many items for you to lay claim to. Or you might feel like checking out those sweet sweet monkey nests. Or checking out that door. Whatever you feel like doing, leave a top level for people to pester you with. Or pester other people with top levels. The Mingle Log is your Oyster.]

[She sighs, simultaneously annoyed and relieved.]

No, dearie. Do you remember where you are?

[A few more slow blinks.]

... Muffet? Hey, you're Muffet!
prettypurpleparlor: For what you're pleased to say (You're witty and you're wise)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-15 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Correct- although that's really more of a 'who' than a 'where'. And you're Mickey, and you just ate a plant you didn't recognize. Which is generally a very bad idea, for the record.

[Mickey still sounds a little dizzy...]

Muffet, met Muffet on the... igloo... iguana... island! We're on the island!

... Oh. Whoops.

[She looks at him, trying to be stern but failing to hide an amused smile.]

Yes, we are. How are you feeling, aside from sleepy and confused?

[You know you love him.]

... Really embarrassed?

Well, that's better than feeling ill, I think. Do try to be a bit more cautious next time, dearie- if nothing else, it would be polite to warn people before you try something. That way, we can have someone with healing abilities on hand in case it doesn't go well.

Aw gee, I'm really sorry. I just wanted to help out, and see if we could find more farm food!

[She smiles gently, and pats him on the shoulder.]

And that's a perfectly fine thing to do- just plan ahead a little more, in the future. On the bright side, while I wouldn't recommend anyone eat these, I do think you've just found what those apes used to coat their sleeping darts. I wouldn't be surprised if they were medically useful, somehow.

[Was he helpful??? YAAAY]

That makes sense! And maybe we could use them in case we've got tough foes to take down! We just gotta learn how to make 'em... and use 'em... and fire 'em.... but we can do it!

[Aaaand this is why people can't stay mad at him. He's just too darn cute.]

It could be helpful for people who are having trouble sleeping, too- or hunting, if we can make sure we aren't getting too much of it into the meat to be safe for eating. Plants are surprisingly helpful things, if one knows enough about them.

Those are great ideas! You're a real genius, Muffet!
prettypurpleparlor: Wily, flattering words (In a little corner sly)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-23 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, that's very sweet of you to say, but it's just an idle thought. The real test, I think, will be whether I can figure out how to put any of those ideas into practice.

Fortunately, [She winks.] I won't be handling it alone. No doubt the rest of our group will be quite interested in this, too.

Sure, we should tell everyone about this!

... But maybe leave out the part where I ate it.

Wrapping soon, I think?

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-24 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We probably don't have to mention that, no.

[She eyes the little plant thoughtfully, estimating it's size.]

Would you mind helping me dig this one up? If we're careful enough to avoid damaging the roots, I could transplant it into my garden later.
souris_keteer: (Default)

consider it wrapped!

You got it, Muffet! Let's do it right away!
