Who: Jay Merrick and You
What: Jay fell unconscious in Rosswood Park and woke up on a magic island. He's not yet sure if this is a good thing.
When: January 29th, morning
Where: The Storyteller's Temple
Warnings: Language, Jay being an anxious wreck; will update as things come up!
This is wrong. Deeply, deeply wrong. He's either still dreaming, or he's still hallucinating, or he's dead, because the only remaining option doesn't just happen.
Sure, maybe the supernatural exists, but it doesn't talk to you in your dreams, and it doesn't spare you from getting your memories scraped out of your head bythat thing, and it doesn't drop you off in...okay, maybe it does drop you off in an overgrown, abandoned building, but not one that looks like this.
He leans up against something that definitely isn't a mana pool, because mana pools don't exist. His phone is gone. His camera--shit, his camera's dripping, and the viewfinder screen won't light up, and it won't even turn on, it just keeps making this thin, whining noise before fizzling out again, and come on come on COME ON this can't happen

"What're you doing?" Her eyes pay attention to the device in his hands, still unable to determine what it was. "If you're recharging stuff, you're not supposed to put it in the water."
no subject
His mouth starts working before his brain catches up.
"Could, uh. Could say the same about you."
And, wait, recharging? There's power here? Thank christ.
It might be too much to hope for a working ethernet port, but now at least it's on the table.

Beau extends her arms a bit out from herself, as if it'll let him get a decent look at her. Mostly it shows off her abs on her bare stomach. "Do you not know how this shit works? Rabbit should've explained it to you."
no subject
Why does he do this. Why. Why is his first instinct upon meeting somebody new to shove his foot in his mouth. Stop talking.
God, she is shredded. Why is she so shredded? Is that what island life does to everybody?
"Is that--that's a...I mean, they explained it to me, yeah. I just hadn't actually seen one of them working, I guess."

She decides pretty quickly that he doesn't know shit, so. Go on as normal.
"So you were just freaking out next to one?" Go on Beau, pass judgement, as if you didn't yell at one of these your first day here. "Lemme guess, you're the only one you know in whatever, your friends are all gone, all that?"
no subject
She's not wrong. He hasn't had what you'd call friends in years, and it's not like Tim's gonna trust him after...well, he's not gonna trust Tim either, but that's different. They both screwed up, maybe. He'll grant that.
"Sure. Yeah, I'm not...it's not like I brought anybody here with me."
The chances that Alex or Jessica or Tim or anybody he knows ended up here? Slim to none. So sure. He's back to working solo.

Beau shrugs, dropping that thread as soon as it's reached the conclusion she thinks it needs, and carries on. "I'm not gonna be your welcome wagon though. Go bother the people at the Denny or something. Tim will answer all your dumb questions."
No, he won't. Beau knows this. But she also knows him well enough to know he'll hate it, and that's exactly why she's pointing Jay there while unaware of the implications of such an act.
*claws my way back into this good good thread a month late*
Wait. Wait.
This is pointless. He's on a tropical island with talking rabbits, and even the greater Rosswood area had a hell of a lot of Tims and more than its fair share of Tim Wrights.
It stumbles out of his mouth regardless. "Tim? Tim, like...Tim who?"
look i havent done tags for a month either, you're valid
"Tim like... bartender Tim, I dunno. He runs the place. Been here forever. Mid-height, dark hair, kinda floppy." She gestures over her head as if that means literally anything. "Smokes a lot, fucking paranoid. You know him?"
no subject
Even after Tim grew the beard, he was still "sideburns guy" with Jay's viewers, as far as Jay could tell. First impressions, or whatever.
But smokes a lot, fucking paranoid? That sounds like Tim.
Tim could be here.
Not a bartender, though. Maybe she's got that part wrong.

She raises an eyebrow at him, cocking her head a bit to the side. "You gonna ask me a million more questions or what? I don't have all day. It might look like I do, because this place is a pit, but that doesn't mean I want to spend it talking to you."
