stick around and see how it ends [ OPEN MINGLE ]

Who: Anyone!
What: Catch-all Denny mingle for the month of July
When: Throughout all of July, generally
Where: Denny
Warnings: Label your stuff if it comes up but otherwise nothing comes to mind

[Feel free to use this as a catch-all for whatever your character might conceivably be doing here. Are they loitering outside? Delivering supplies/food, or looking to share information about the city under the water? Helping improve the place because god knows it certainly needs it? Cooking? Socializing? Eating? Just wanting to booze it up? I've heard chatter of live music, so whatever you wanna do here, go for it! There are also some newer additions of rudimentary game boards and decks of cards to pass the time.]

[There are nominal rules but if you don't get caught you don't have to deal with them, so you do you.]

[It's later in the month, after he's spent enough time in the water that they've had to recharge his stone several times and then one of his Jormun friends gently suggested that maybe he should do something else besides swim. That's how he ends up in the Denny, trying to pretend like it's not physically painful to be away from the water once he'd been given a kind of freedom he'd only half imagined.

It's not a great trade-off. The conchas just make him - it's not sad, exactly. It's something like frustration, maybe. He's eating them, though, and they taste like a memory he doesn't want to remember.]

Miguel used to make them in yellow. [He says it without expecting a response, turning the one he has in his hands over.] He said they were different flavors, but they all tasted the same to me.

[Incredibly common name, but it grabs his attention! His Miguel, what a cool, cool kid. A real lifesaver, swooping in at the last second and changing everything. Obviously not who Connor's talking about, but it's enough to get him grinning.]

Yeah? What flavors? I could do something different next time.

[The answer that comes to mind immediately is right, but not the sort of thing he can say out loud. They tasted like Miguel, mostly, but that's not a quantifiable taste.]

. . . Pineapple? Vanilla? He made coffee flavored ones, once. [That had been on Connor's request.] I don't really know.

[Eating them was never about the flavor. It was more about Miguel trying to "get culture into him" or any of the other excuses they made for hanging out together long past when they had chemistry together.]

I think we've got some coffee beans around. Pineapple I'm not so sure about. You'd think so, we're in the tropics.

['Is it worth it' doesn't even enter his mind. There aren't so many people around that he can't cater to a specific person. He has plenty of spare time, and the strawberries will be kept for another recipe.]
yourattention: (and make me more)

We should ask for a pineapple. Or mangoes.

[He would say something about going to the trouble of making something for him, specifically, but he's gotten over apologizing for taking up space. It's like payback for buying the cutter thing in the first place, right?]

Or , uh. What's the ice cream fruit actually called? Jackfruit? No, uh. Cherry-something.

[Cherimoya is the word he's looking for.]
vagabone: (extreme head tilting)

[personal profile] vagabone 2019-08-15 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Totally. He's here, he's willing, and no one else is making requests.]

Oh, cherimoya. I haven't seen any of those in decades. I don't buy much, not enough to how it all works. Do you think different fruit would cost the same?

[Hey, if they're the same price, go for the best!]
