May Adventure: I Want to Go Where Everyone Goes

What: Io appears!
When: May 10th and onward
Where: Io
Warnings: The possibility of drug use and alcohol may come up. Otherwise, tag as you go!

Things Are Shaping Up to Be Pretty Odd
As of May 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Io. Though you could always opt for sailing, if you wanted. As we mentioned on the island's introductory post, no exploration is necessary! The island is small enough and easily traversed, and with a minimum of dangers, you have plenty of time to visit each of Io's six draws.
The temple is the easiest place to get in touch with the local avatar, though you can contact them just as easily by striking up a conversation with just about any honeybee you see in the vicinity. The lazy drone of them can be heard all over the island, though they're quite complacent, and not at all prone to disturbing adventurers. The temple itself is twined with grapevines and smothered with inlays of rubies, proud and sparkling. Inside, it smells of honey and wine, and seems to exhibit a naturally contented glow. Just outside, numerous fruit trees sprout all about the temple's courtyard, to be sampled at your leisure.
The bathhouses are located just south of the temple, and are prime locations for some rest and relaxation. Bathe, swim, take a spa day! There are innumerable rooms to do exactly that, and more space than be reasonably filled by some sixty-or-seventy people.

For those less keen on mind-altering substances, the tea gardens are a far safer bet. They practically emanate tranquility, with their soft paper lanterns, thickets of tea trees, and a tea room with a seemingly endless supply of every supplement to your drink that you could ask for. And if none of the teabags or tea leaves in there suit your preference, you're free to wander about the gardens yourself and sample whatever you like.
The Honeycomb at the island's heart is much more akin to a play structure or jungle gym than anything else, but its interlocking passageways and erratic, hexagonal architecture aren't for nothing. It's an ideal spot for play or exercise, if you're into that kind of thing - or for getting positively sick on honey sticks.
The campsites ensure that you don't truly have to depart from Io, if you don't want to. Tents full of chairs and cushions and blankets make it a wonderful place to spend the night if you're so inclined, and the lockers full of food and drink are assurances that you won't go hungry. And with all these massive bonfires and firework cannons, why would you ever want to leave?
Welcome to the island of Io! Please, enjoy your stay and make full use of this island's many faculties! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

Izuku "Deku" Midoriya | OTA
[This is the greatest thing that has happened since he got here.
The moment Izuku discovers the bathhouses, he is in one of them almost constantly. Sometimes he's using one of the cold or warm pools for swimming - it's a hell of an efficient workout, and it's fun to be able to race people casually.
Most of the time, though? He's scrubbing down and rinsing off so he can flop into one of the hot bathing pools and just soak. He even goes so far as to fold his towel up into a makeshift pillow so he can prop his head on the edge. Falling asleep is absolutely a thing he does, multiple times. He missed this, he missed this so much.
In both situations, anyone who runs into him will find it hard to miss the collection of scars riddling his right arm, especially the massive burn scar on his outer bicep. Izuku doesn't bother to cover them up unless he catches someone staring; he's so used to only having them exposed around people who know they're there that his self-consciousness kicks in the moment they draw attention.]
Tea Garden
[Izuku wouldn't exactly say he enjoys tea, not in the sense of seeking it out and trying different brands and blends for its own sake. But he does like it. It's a comfort beverage of sorts, a familiar thing wound up in blurry childhood memories, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't look forward to every time Yaoyoruzu brewed up a new expensive varietal or custom blend in the dorm kitchenette for everyone to try.
So it's not long before he finds himself in the garden, where he can be seen dumping a mugful of hot water and a couple teaspoons of black tea into a...saucepan? Yes, that's definitely a saucepan. This is certainly a thing he's doing.
Anyone who misses out on this particular oddity can at least find the aftermath, as Izuku settles down in a shady corner to scribble away into a blank book he snagged from the library, occasionally muttering to himself between sips of royal milk tea.]
tea garden
They've decided, in their own methodical way, to try as many things as they can, little by little. It's an idyllic way to spend the time, after all.
So they're wandering up to one of their newer acquaintances with appropriately bug-sized mug held in their hands, watching him with clear curiosity. What's he got there? ]
no subject
Oh, hi. I didn't expect to see you here. [Once he's sure everything is set, he kneels to give them his full attention. He's got a couple of minutes before the next step, after all, and there's no excuse not to let them know they have his focus.] You're really good at surprising me, you know that?
[He can't help taking a peek into the Knight's mug to see if they've gotten themself anything yet.]
Bathhouses (tw: self-harm/abuse)
A young boy with heavy, heavy scars - one instantly recognizable to her as a burn scar, but others like the skin has been torn open and reassembled. It's horrifying, on anyone, but even more so on a young boy. She has to stop herself from clapping her paw over her mouth in shock.
She can only wonder if he's done that to himself. It wouldn't be the first time she's seen a child with scars that didn't come from others. But it wouldn't be the first time she's seen a child with scars that did come from others either. She can't be sure which this is - not that it's any of her business.
It only takes her a moment to realize she's staring, quite openly. She looks away, abashed - she hopes she hasn't made him self-conscious about them.]
no subject
Ah...I'm sorry. I've had them for a while, I...I guess I wasn’t thinking about it.
[He quietly wraps his hand up in the folds where it's holding the towel around him. Maybe he should...skip the bath he was planning on. Or at least wait until he's the only one around. He's probably been making everyone uncomfortable, hasn't he?]
no subject
Tea Garden
What is that? It smells really good.
no subject
It's called royal milk tea. It's like normal tea, except it only uses a little water and adds a lot of milk instead. So I guess it's like tea-flavored milk?
[He holds up his mug so it's easier to see inside - the contents look more like faintly golden-tan milk than tea.]
no subject
Is it better than normal tea if you make it with milk? Does it have to be a special kind of tea? We only ever got tea when we were sick, so it was mostly just mint, or sometimes ginger, which I don't think would work very well.
no subject
[He pulls the mug back for a quick sip. He is not, on the other hand, a fan of drinking it lukewarm, so he wants to get through it while it's still hot. No offense.]
It might work with other kinds of tea leaves? My mom only ever made it with black tea, so I don't know. [He smiles down at the mug.] When I was little she'd make this for me when I was sick, or if we had company over and I wanted to drink tea with them like a grownup.
no subject
Can I...can I ask what your parents are like?
no subject
(He’s still not used to people wanting to know about him, period.)]
Mom is an amazing person. She’s kind, and understanding, and really hard-working. She’s always there for me...even if she worries too much sometimes.
[Not that he can be too upset about that, since he does the same to literally everyone. Including her. Intense concern for peoples’ well-being apparently runs in the family, right alongside crying at the drop of a hat, being prone to anxiety, and green hair.]
I don’t really know my dad that well? [Why is that a question.] He got transferred overseas when I was really little, and talking to him is...awkward.
[He ducks his head, taking an extra long sip to help cut that line of thought off. He doesn’t like talking about his dad because his feelings about him are all tangled up with his feelings about his company, and those are bitter and angry and all sorts of negative and Izuku is not about to dump that on anyone else. So instead, he looks up through his bangs at Starflight and probably looks just as awkward as he feels.]
...what’s your family like?
no subject
I didn't know my parents until just before I came here, my friends and I were raised by the Talons of Peace. According to Morrowseer my mother was killed a while ago. I never met her. She was trying to help other dragons in the war, so I- I figure she must have been nice. Morrowseer didn't talk about her much.
My father...
[He wrung his talons, sorting through what his thoughts on his father.]
My father's name is Mastermind, and he's incredibly smart and an amazing scientist. He's studied all sorts of stuff, like volcanology and desalinization, and he has his own lab. He's- he's a lot like me, I guess, and he was so excited to meet me and- and seemed really proud of me.
[Starflight looked away, a troubled frown spreading over his face. Mastermind was everything he'd wanted his father to be, except-]
But some of his experiments...aren't right. Ethically speaking.
Tea Garden
Well, who is he to judge someone for enjoying their tea differently than others? The good doctor raises his hand and gives an enthusiastic wave!
"Lovely day for it, young man!"
From his shoulder, a smaller creature also gives two equally as enthusiastic waves - and nearly loses its balance in the process.
no subject
Ah! [OR HE COULD DROP THE SAUCEPAN OUT OF SURPRISE AND okay it's fine, he caught it, everything is cool. He totally meant to do that he swears please don't judge him.] Oh, um, hello.
[...this man is wearing a bag on his head and has a tiny him...person...thing on his shoulder.
......yeah, no, still pretty damn normal by Izuku's standards. Have a smile and a shy wave in return! (Someone please re-calibrate this child.)]
no subject
"Are you alright? Sorry for scaring you like that!"
...you know, for how absolutely terrible this entire first impression has been, the young man is taking the whole 'tall guy wearing a bag on his head' thing pretty well. The miniature familiar on Faust's shoulder seems to have the same idea, tilting their head questioningly at the newcomer.
