May Adventure: I Want to Go Where Everyone Goes

Things Are Shaping Up to Be Pretty Odd
As of May 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to Io. Though you could always opt for sailing, if you wanted. As we mentioned on the island's introductory post, no exploration is necessary! The island is small enough and easily traversed, and with a minimum of dangers, you have plenty of time to visit each of Io's six draws.

The temple is the easiest place to get in touch with the local avatar, though you can contact them just as easily by striking up a conversation with just about any honeybee you see in the vicinity. The lazy drone of them can be heard all over the island, though they're quite complacent, and not at all prone to disturbing adventurers. The temple itself is twined with grapevines and smothered with inlays of rubies, proud and sparkling. Inside, it smells of honey and wine, and seems to exhibit a naturally contented glow. Just outside, numerous fruit trees sprout all about the temple's courtyard, to be sampled at your leisure.

The bathhouses are located just south of the temple, and are prime locations for some rest and relaxation. Bathe, swim, take a spa day! There are innumerable rooms to do exactly that, and more space than be reasonably filled by some sixty-or-seventy people. Or maybe you're interested in getting absolutely sloshed instead. The vineyard is perfect for that, located to Io's northeast on one of its long, tapering peninsulas. Rows upon rows of grapevines lead up to the crown jewel of the region: a proud winery with enough goods to satisfy even the most parched.

For those less keen on mind-altering substances, the tea gardens are a far safer bet. They practically emanate tranquility, with their soft paper lanterns, thickets of tea trees, and a tea room with a seemingly endless supply of every supplement to your drink that you could ask for. And if none of the teabags or tea leaves in there suit your preference, you're free to wander about the gardens yourself and sample whatever you like.

The Honeycomb at the island's heart is much more akin to a play structure or jungle gym than anything else, but its interlocking passageways and erratic, hexagonal architecture aren't for nothing. It's an ideal spot for play or exercise, if you're into that kind of thing - or for getting positively sick on honey sticks.

The campsites ensure that you don't truly have to depart from Io, if you don't want to. Tents full of chairs and cushions and blankets make it a wonderful place to spend the night if you're so inclined, and the lockers full of food and drink are assurances that you won't go hungry. And with all these massive bonfires and firework cannons, why would you ever want to leave?

That sounds incredible. Okay! Look out-I'm coming up!

[And you know what? She may not be able to Flip Like That, but she can jump high and has a huge sword. It can't be that hard to accomplish.

And so she prepares herself to leap up, except-

That wave of exhaustion, that inkling something's wrong despite her usual, liberal use of her power, overtakes her as she pushes herself off the ground and-

Maybe she didn't realize the end to her huge scarf was right under her foot, that she hasn't eaten very much today, that she's pretty sure she's craving water despite that not being a typical urge for her and, well.

That jump upward? Ends up with her slipping on her scarf and falling flat on her back.

Which is bad!! She looks surprised?? And shocked?? She's a goddess!! She has an image to maintain?? At least her people aren't here to witness it.]

Hold on! Don't go anywhere-that totally didn't count.

OH NOOO

[Beau's ready to watch this girl do something, but she doesn't actually expect it to be that. This girl goes down and Beau can't help the grin that splits into laughter as she just flops right back down, face full of shock that this actually happened. Her arms are wrapped around her waist as she tries to recover, looking down towards where she's now lying on the ground.]

What didn't count about it? Looks like somebody got overeager to race me.

[Which she winks at, just to be a complete menace about it.]

[You know what would be useful right now? Egregori. She could just summon them to get to the very tip top of this honeycomb, god.

But sadly, all she has is this woman's contagious laughter that makes her smile and laugh, despite the fall. It's just so dumb. She's a goddess?? With all kinds of power and yet-

And yet. This place is wild. She's just glad her sisters didn't see it.]

Hey, how could I not rise to the challenge. I'm totally gonna win. Just you wait.

[But she triple wraps the long scarf around her neck and braces herself to go.]

Watch out!

[Because she's coming up.]

[It's probably better Beau doesn't know this woman is supposed to be a goddess, because then she'd be so full of herself she could explode. She's been having all sorts of complexes about not being good enough for a god recently, this just fits too well.

But she gets up, full of fire, and Beau can't help but be drawn to her instantly. Finally, someone new and fun. As soon as it seems Two is moving, Beau hops her weight between feet and takes off in the ascent.]

I'm not gonna give up that easily!

[With an 18, she seems to not be blowing smoke either- Beau is scaling the side deftly, the twisted metal and joints of the structure giving her the footholds she needs to start to zip to the top.]

[And with a 15, Two is hot on her tail, boosting herself forward with long jumps, flipping and pulling herself onto different ledges to hopefully give her the advantage in the long run. No matter what she does though, she's still behind the woman which is-

New. Definitely new to be behind anyone that isn't related to her and it makes her smile grow wider.]

You're gonna have to be quicker than that! Pretend I'm like an ogre or a dragon or something that's chasing you.

[Woah, shit, that's actually impressive. Beau keeps climbing, but it's obvious she stumbles for a moment, keeps her eyes on Two maybe a second too long.]

I think you're too pretty to be an ogre!

[So that's what she's doing instead! It's flirting! Maybe it's not losing if this cute girl wants to keep chatting her up no matter what happens. But Two is gaining ground for sure.]

[That's unexpected and hearing that from someone other than Cent startles her. People don't typically speak so candidly to her, outside of Five, but she's family. Anyway, the point is, the little attack works and she stumbles a bit, before getting back into her jumpy mode.]

Hey, come on! You're gonna make me blush and that's like, totally not fair. That's cheating.

[Ooh, so flirting's going to work? Frankly, Beau forgot how it was to have someone who actually responded to her advances. Usually she flirts and at best someone makes a quip back, or if it's Yasha it tends to go ignored (unless she's very lucky). The response makes her grin, maybe more smug than she should.]

And you can't run while you're blushing? Hey, I might even be doing you a favor! Inspiration to get to me faster!

[She isn't perfectly smooth, but she's trying to do something, so what line is she going to come up with, hmm hmm--]

Unless you're gonna make me chase you, huh?

[S T O P you can't TALK To her like this. She's pretty sure it's illegal?? It's probably in the Intoner manuals, somewhere. If only Cent were here to explain This.]

Cent says blushing promotes blood flow and keeps you looking young-that's all! It's on purpose!

[It's definitely not and at that second challenge, she stops and points-]

There's no way you could! I'm, like, supposed to be super fast. I mean, if I had all my powers, you'd never catch me.

[WHO'S GOING TO STOP HER, GOD??? None of them would stand a chance. Fight her IRL, lords of the universe.]

Hey, you're not the only person with training. Or do you need powers to have legs??

[She full ass has no idea what caliber of person she's dealing with here. It probably wouldn't matter if she did. Sometimes it just be like this, huh Two?]

Don't tell me you lost the power for your face and legs to do different stuff, too.

[That makes her laugh-light and airy, like this is the funnest thing she's done in a long while. And it kind of is. She had been working up until coming here and planning the picnic for the kids had been the only thing on her todo list.

Running around sorta reminds her of being with her sisters again, banter and all.

But it's weird because she is hungry and tired-two states of being she's not completely familiar with, so yeah actually. She does need powers for her face and legs.]

Good point. Hey, I know-let's have another race again soon. After a nice meal and a good night's rest. We'll both be at, you know, full strength in every way. Then we'll know who the real winner is.

[lesbeau]

[That laughter is gonna give her heart palpitations. Pretty girls can't just like, laugh at her like she's funny and not like she's a doofus. That doesn't happen! This is a lot. But Beau crosses her arms and tries to look confident, even if she feels like an absolute doof right now.]

Alright. Guess you'll just have to call me, huh? When you feel ready for it.

[Complete with a little nod of her head as if it wasn't obvious what kind of pass she's making.]

You know where to get a good bite around here? Found a ton of honey, alcohol, and drugs, which is pretty rad, but the bees in charge seem light on actual food. Maybe because they don't eat it.
