Teamwork makes the Dream Work
Who: Weiss, Jaune and YOU!
What: Just normal team bonding and training that is perfectly restrained and safe.
When: 09/10
Where: Enso, D4
Warnings: It's a violent fight but nothing graphic so no.
[What a nice uneventful day on Ensō’s shore. The waves gently lap against the sand, surrounding the area with a sense of tranquility and security not often seen lately.
Until half of a boulder lands in the water and two figures go flying at opposite sides of the beach from a height that would definitely be harmful.]
[Panting, Jaune stands from the ground and takes a second to compose himself before he launches his shield at the smaller figure with enough force to possibly knock a normal person out, using that window to decrease the distance between him and his opponent.]
Oof! [ The shield collided with the aforementioned opponent, a girl by the name of Weiss Schnee. It was in the blink of an eye that it sent her flying backward, straight into a boulder on the beach with a sickening crack. The source of the tumult was the stone cracking on the small woman, though, rather than the other way around. Small crevices formed in a radial pattern in the rock surrounding Weiss just before she fell down to the sand, but she didn’t stay down for long.
As if it hardly phased her, Weiss jumped onto the back of Jaune’s now face-down shield and let a hand fly behind her to call a glyph to the face of the damaged boulder, using it to launch her forward. It was rather like the ice queen was surfing across the sand’s surface right toward Jaune, jumping off at the last minute into a flip above his head as a misdirect. His shield continued hurtling toward the water, and Weiss used another glyph to stop herself mid-air and redirect herself toward Jaune, Myrtenaster aimed firmly at his shoulder. ]
[With little time to react, Jaune yelped in pain as he was hit by the very sharp and potentially fatal tip of Weiss’s sword, flying back and flipping several times out of control as his face skated on the rough sand. Extending a hand to the ground, he managed to stop himself, glancing over to at the already damaged boulder, and kicked it hard to finish the job. With the pieces now at a reasonable size about as big as his upper half, he started throwing them in the Snow Angel’s direction so he could run and retrieve his shield.]
Here, catch!
[Emitting a relieved sigh, he fished his shield out of the water and started to drag his feet through the wet sand to return to their battle, breaking into a run and sweeping his sword down in the direction of Weiss.]
[ The rocks that flew toward Weiss didn't connect. The first couple of rocks were dodged with rapid flips and half-corkscrew jumps that any gymnast would be impressed with, then another glyph to full-on block the final one from colliding with her. It gave Jaune the time he needed to retrieve his shield, and so did Weiss's next action. A large glyph formed in front of her, one that looked very different from most of her normal ones, and spun rapidly before quickly sputtering out. A wasted movement, even if she had promised to show Jaune her summoning when she had the chance. The moment of panicked surprise from Weiss was a clear opening. ]
[Jaune had seen enough of Weiss’s glyphs to know to be on guard when she began to conjure one. Even more since he didn’t recognize this particular one. A new attack?
Was this how she summoned?
Feet skidding against the sand, he shielded himself in a running stop, prepared for the worst. Unless the disappearing glyph would form into a towering undead-grimm-knight-thing, he was in the clear. Able to react quickly enough to still take advantage, the sharpened side of Crocea Mors struck down in a smooth, practiced movement that was aimed for her torso, and created a shockwave of wind in its wake.]
[Weiss doesn’t have enough time to block, and glyph after glyph should have been fine normally, but she was already feeling like she’d been fighting for an hour. Her reflexes suffered because of it and she didn’t manage to get a glyph up to block Jaune’s sword, instead getting basically smashed into the sand. Her aura protected her from getting her arm cut off as she went to try to protect her torso, but the amount of force behind the hit sent her straight into the sand, creating an impact trail in her wake. She’s practically half buried and coughing as she tries to brush the sand off of her to get up again, though before she makes it off of her knees she immediately gestures for another glyph, one that Jaune likely won’t see because it’s definitely a black one behind him. Rather suddenly, Weiss throws Myrtenaster at him very much like Pyrrha had speared him for her, except with a significant increase in force given the increased gravity from her glyph. She moves to stand up as she does, ready to slide toward him with a row of consecutive glyphs on the ground, but about three in she stops and falls down to her knees, holding up her hand. ]
Time out! [ Her voice sounds breathless, like she’d been fighting for far longer than Jaune had. She wasn’t this out of practice, was she? ]
[OOC note: OTA if you want to have your characters watch the entire fight, or come in when they’re done to react!]

[He noticed Prompto help Ignis, saying nothing about it. They both knew eachother than he knew either of them, and had Prompto not been around he might have offered to help, but the blonde seemed to know what he was doing.]
I could probably break a few in half and try to smooth them down if that's what you're planning.
[He goes quiet, listening to their exchange.] I haven't experienced any limitations. [It's mostly mumbled to himself, but he isn't sure if that's a good thing. Would he be experiencing the same frustrations as Weiss and the others if he was more on their level?]
So basically, this place has put some sort of block between our souls and what we can do with them.

Cooking and reading I guess, though both things are a big part of my duties. I'm not so sure they count.
[Not really wanting to go into it farther, Ignis quickly shifts the topic after assuring Jaune he will be most grateful to the young man if he can do just that with the rocks.]
They do get tired when warping, and Noctis can only summon a fraction of what he should be able to. Considering the number of people who have their skills limited in some way keeps going up, I suspect that your control, Weiss, is just as good as it was when you left home. Whatever the source of our power is, something externally is preventing those powers from working as they should.
[He mulls over this a few seconds before nodding and continuing.]
Even on our world, powers have a wide range. It's nearly impossible to predict the kind of powers and the strength those powers may have. The Storyteller is regaining strength. They've told us that. Who knows if whoever is responsible for bringing us here is doing the same. They would have to make sure our abilities are never stronger than theirs if they want to keep us here. Limitations are the easiest way to do that.

[Then he could at least get coconuts and do other simple tasks in a flash. Here he was, attempting to climb towering trees, and people were just flying around shooting up boulders. What use was he here without even his gun?
With a few cautious last steps he scraped his way to the bottom of the crater and held onto Ignis for that last bit. These things were going to take some time to get used to.]
If we believe what the Storyteller says, then we must be dealing with something pretty big and we don't even have any idea what it is. It would have to be a god or something, right?

[ Blocking their souls, come on now. Not ok. :| But the further Ignis and Prompto explain, the less stressed Weiss looks. It's certainly a huge relief to know that there's nothing wrong with her, she's not going to put people in danger if she isn't perfectly okay all the time. The fact that it means she still was ready to leave, that what she was banking on to prove she was ready to be on her own is still in tact came second.
Still... ]
That they needed to block our abilities means they're likely not as powerful as they want us to believe they are and they just found a way to take them aside from that. [ Otherwise why would they need to?
Weiss makes a mental note that when she finally finds a spot she wants to build that shelter she's planning, she should try to make a little "counter space" so to speak for Ignis. It won't be much, but it'll be something. ]
