the quest for clinicvania
Who: Doctor Faust and all those willing to help!
What: Refurbishment of the clinic, through new hires, more supplies and a better structure!
When: February the 10th and onwards
Where: Nari Nishitani's Clinic/Infirmary (Ensō, B6)
Warnings: If you are latrophobic, look away now.
The good doctor pockets his Stone of Farspeech, having finished his announcement over the lifenet. Time to make this place look as presentable as possible before he has guests...if this place even can be made presentable. Paper bag set in a visage of grim determination, Doctor Faust sets to work.
1. Healers
Can you dress a wound, or channel energies into restorative magics? The good doctor is waiting for you when you come in, and gives you a friendly wave before beckoning you over. He's currently awkwardly seated upon a wooden crate, and gestures to a second opposite it.
"Welcome! I apologise for the lack of proper seating, I'm hoping to have some chairs built very soon. I'll assume you're here for the interview?"
2. Suppliers
Can you make bandages, or grow medicinal herbs? Today, Faust is rifling through some containers, and he produces some sort of splint as you enter. His eyehole squints as he lifts it up towards the light to examine it further - only stopping when he realises he has a guest.
"Oh, hello there! Pardon me, I'll be right with you - are you a patient or are you here to volunteer?"
3. Renovators
Can you replace floorboards, or construct furniture? You'll find the form of one Doctor Faust hunched over a bed, as he makes a heroic but futile effort to drag it across the room. He gives up after a few seconds, standing back up to wipe a bead of sweat off of his bag...and in the process, realising he has company.
"Ah, hello! I didn't notice you there, please forgive me. Are you here to help with the clinic, or are you in need of medical assistance?"
4. Other
If you're here for a private interview via Stone of Farspeech, you'll want to go here. Otherwise, you'll find Faust standing outside the clinic, looking it over with as pensive an expression as he can manage with a paper bag on his head. Whatever he's thinking about, it's taking up enough of his attention that he won't notice you approach - if you're here for something different than volunteering, this is your chance to make it known.

[Judging by the look of things, though, she may be the help Faust needs for this particular bit of furniture trouble.]
The first option, in a manner of speaking.
[She answers with a smile, and holds up a small basket by way of explanation. Judging by the smell, it contains lunch, including some freshly-brewed tea.]
Given all the work involved in keeping this place running smoothly, I thought you might be in need of something to keep your strength up.
[She gestures at the bed, and adds:]
Particularly if you're going to try and haul the furnishings around on your own. Why don't I lend you a hand with that, and then we can have a lunch break? It wouldn't do for you to land yourself in a sickbed due to overwork.
no subject
"-m-Miss Muffet! What a pleasant surprise...ah, yes, well..."
...that is a heavenly smell. It is only a miracle that prevents Faust's stomach from angrily protesting at its lack of sustenance.
"...that is a very wise decision! Your timing is most fortunate indeed! You need not worry about my strength, though I will not turn down another...several pairs of hands, it appears!"
To hell with it, it's been a long day and he's starting to feel the frailty of his age creep back up on him. This has nothing to do with whatever could be in that basket. He swears it.
"If you could just take up that side, we should be able to lift it over to...about there, at least just for now. Ready? One, two-!"
no subject
Of course, let me just... there.
[She steps over to the other side of the bed, as Faust indicates, carefully tucking the basket into the crook of one of her lowest arms for safekeeping. This leaves her middle pair free to get a decent grip on the heavy furniture, which she lifts in time with him on a muttered count of:]
Three.
[From the first moment, it's likely going to be clear that this is much easier than lifting it alone was. For all her delicately frilly appearance, Muffet seems to be having no trouble moving the furniture at all.]
[Like many arachnids, she's quite strong for her size.]
Now, you wanted it to move... this way, yes?
[She gesture with an unoccupied hand in the appropriate direction.]
no subject
"-yes, just...against the wall right...here!"
Both his mind's baffled queries and his body's protests go ignored, perhaps more out of pride than anything else at this point, until all four legs have firmly hit the ground. Only then does he allow himself to step back, exhaling in relief and rolling his aching arms. He's not as young as he used to be...
"...that'll do for now, thank you so much for your help. Good grief..."
He takes a moment to scan the room, making a mental tally of the work he still has to do...before his eyehole settles upon two small crates sitting on either side of a much bigger crate. He turns back to Muffet with an almost cheeky tone to his voice:
"Well, that was fun! Who's up for lunch?"
no subject
[She smiles at his invitation, placing the basket in the middle of the makeshift "table" with a wink and gesturing for him to find a seat on one of the smaller crates.]
After you, good sir.

His only experience of an interview was being questioned by the authorities and he... He hoped this would be different.
He's clearly made an effort to smarten up, as much as you can after a year on an island. His eyes are shadowed though, like he hasn't slept in a while.
The doctor is wearing a paper bag over his face. That's... Not the strangest thing Shion has ever seen but still disconcerting.]
no subject
"Let's begin by saying, strictly speaking, you've already 'got the job'. You have nothing to be nervous of; 'Interview' was probably a poor choice of words, considering I only have these questions so I can know where you'll be able to best help others. So...congratulations! Welcome aboard!"
He makes a show of sitting up and offering a handshake, even though he could reach the young man as is. The good doctor continues speaking, tone bright and cheery:
"I am Doctor Faust, professional surgeon and physician. To whom do I have the pleasure of hiring, Mister...?"
no subject
But working together was always preferable. He shook Faust's hand, his smile getting a little stronger. "I'm Shion. I... Well I don't have any qualifications or anything like that but I know medicine and how to deal with injuries. I ran a clinic at the place I was before."
no subject
"This isn't your first time working at a clinic? Would you mind elaborating further on that please, Mister Shion?"
...at a time like this, the good doctor wishes he had access to a notepad and pencil.

We are a machine. Faust-Doctor is not a mechanic.
(You aren't qualified to give them medical assistance.)
no subject
-good golly they're strong! These beds have been chipping away at Faust's back since this morning, and this machine is moving them like...like a machine!
"T-That...! Forgive me, I did not wish...that...goodness, you are very strong! If I had known this'd be so little effort for you, I would've contacted you as soon as I finished the main announcement!"
His body language practically oozes both shock and relief simultaneously. With Legion's help, they could get everything moved within the next hour!
no subject
(They finish moving the bed.)
We will assist as needed.
no subject
"Excellent! Thank you for coming! Now, the reason I'm currently doing the beds is because the crates over there-"
He indicates a stack of large, bulky wooden boxes towards the side of the room.
"-were not agreeing with my limbs and back. I was going to hold off until I had more support with them...but seeing as you moved that bed like it was a sheet of paper...good grief, we could get all this moved within the hour!"
He can't help but make a small, excited fist-pump in the air. This will put them significantly ahead of today's schedule! He might even have time to take a break for food at this rate!
"I'll be sorting the contents of those crates later, for now I just need them moved outside of the clinic, about ten or so feet away from the premises, in fact - they'll otherwise get in the way of the building renovations. The beds themselves are a bit too big to get through the front door, and I don't have an instruction manual for taking them apart and putting them back together, so they'll just be moved around the place as the renovations are occurring."

However, he does want to see the place, as well as the person who put out the message in the first place, so here he is; the nature of doing such things is familiar at least, given that he's always held more of a diplomatic role than anything back in Terca Lumireis and as such, this...is...
...
This is going to be a meeting with an unfathomably tall gentleman with a bag on his head, apparently, if he's assuming correctly. You know what, sure. All right. Alexei isn't short by any means but he's dealt with people towering over him before, the bag's a little weird but he can deal, and honestly it's part of his job to make things go as well as possible so you know what, things will go well. He's in full Commandant regalia as usual because of who he is as a person, and his tone is cordial when he speaks.]
Doctor Faust, is it...? I was wondering if I might have a word; it shouldn't take much of your time.
no subject
"That'd be me, yes. To whom do I owe the pleasure..."
...affable, wearing uniform, battle-worn...a knight? Could they here to assist with the current renovations? If they are, they've clearly picked the wrong attire for the job...
"...sir?"
no subject
So as it stands he bows, and the gesture is deep enough to be respectful while shallow enough to keep from leaving the back of his neck completely exposed for any length of time; practiced, but polite.]
Alexei Dinoia - Commandant of the Imperial Knights of Terca Lumireis. The pleasure is mine.
[And that title sure is a bunch of words that don't really matter anymore, much less here, but it is what it is and he straightens up easily enough once all of that is out there.]
You're doing us a rather appreciated service with your work here.
no subject
"In that case, let me first thank you for coming, sir."
The good doctor takes two meaningful steps backward, before bowing down himself with just as much practice. Proper respect isn't restricted to the military, after all. He rises back up and retraces his steps before speaking further.
"I've heard much about the less friendly fauna and beasts of this world, enough so to believe that what we are doing now is less of a service and more of a necessity. If our lives are going to be at stake almost regularly, I believe it to be highly prudent to have a staffed and stocked healthcare facility. With that said and done though, what was it that you wished to discuss?"
...he hasn't even scratched the surface of both his oaths as a doctor and his morals as an individual. But for now, perhaps he shouldn't assume the bulky military man came here looking for a grand speech.

Good afternoon, Doctor.
no subject
"...mmmmhnn-hm? wh-jus...A-AH, GOOD AFTERNO-!"
Faust makes an extremely determined effort to launch himself back into attentiveness, literally jumping to his feet like a spring...and smacking his head on the ceiling in the process. The hit leaves him cringing on his knees, pushing one hand underneath the bag to clutch the fresh lump on his head. That sounded like it hurt.
"...a-afternoon, Asgore...one, one minute, please...oof..."
no subject
Although at least some of this probably could be blamed on the ceilings in this building being pretty low for creatures of their general size. Asgore himself is constantly banging his horns on doorframes; luckily, they were made to take hits anyway.
Anyway, this has all been terrible thus far! "Would you like me to come back later?"
no subject
"...I'm alright, thank you Asgore. 'tis just a lump! Should probably get to work on the ceiling when I get a chance..."
He trails off for a moment before gesturing for Asgore to take a seat - opposite the half-built desk is a particularly heavy-looking crate, something the good doctor had moved prior with the express purpose of taking the large Capricorn's weight. Hopefully.
"I'll be right with you! Just...one moment, please."

She doesn't come right into the infirmary, though, instead stopping in the doorway and giving a polite bow of the head. ]
Please pardon me for intruding. I'm Violet Evergarden – we spoke briefly yesterday, regarding assistance I may be able to provide the clinic.
no subject
"Good afternoon, Miss Evergarden! Please do come in - forgive me for the mess, it's been rather frantic as of recent! Make yourself at home, and don't worry about the formalities."
He stands up to approach a pair of smaller crates nearby...
...'stands up' as in he assumes a strange squatting position, knees folded outwards on either side of his body, and waddles over to the small containers like a penguin. Silver lining? He's more or less the same height as Violet like this.
no subject
[ She gives another bow of her head – looks like 'not worrying about formalities' is easier said than done with this girl – and follows him into the clinic. Her shoulders are set in a slightly tense line that looks a bit out of place with how placid her face is... but it could just as easily be nerves. That's understandable, right? ]
May I ask how long you've been established here?
no subject
And since then, he's been trying to get the place into some semblance of working order. One of these days, someone is going to come in with serious injuries, and he wants to ensure everything is ready to go when that day inevitably arrives.
"What about you? I take it you haven't been around here for very long?"
