As the end of November draws near…… it’s time for that player plot the mods hinted at in their latest announcement.

Laurent’s Witch Labyrinth! -no, actually, it’s just a party.

[preparation]

All day on the 24th people are hard at work setting up on the golden beaches of Enso. The Storyteller’s Temple can be seen from the site and vice versa; it’s just a short walk away. There’s quite a bit to be done, so every extra pair of hands are welcome!

As evening falls, a series of torches light up the party site for the lost; most prominent are the three large campfires spaced out across the beach, offering a variety of gathering spots for those who don’t like the loud partying going on at the other one.

There’s more than enough food to go around. An entire Cariborn is being dug up from the sandy soil way up the beach, having been roasted in the ground. There’s a wide variety spread out on tables… of handwaved origin… maybe they’re the ones left around from 4/20?? It’s probably fine. Herb- baked vegetables, fresh fruits, meat of various types, pizza!! and yes, Muffet’s Magic Blackberry Alcohol abound.

We’ve also got party favors. Amongst them, it seems like..... owo are these sparklers?

Come hang out! It’s a well-deserved break.

The children (and adults so-inclined) have some cute party games to have fun with. There’s a simple little ringtoss area set up, with rings that aren’t even proper circles (listen, Laurent tried) and wooden stakes in the ground to be ringed.

Across the wide stretch of sand there's a lot that can be done- want to build some sandcastles? Pick some shells? Fight some crabs? The beach is dotted with doodles in the sand, inviting you to join in.

The biggest attraction is perhaps the petting zoo- well, it’s a cluster of animals just hanging out, but you get the idea. Located far up on the beach and away from the danger of the waves, the petting zoo has three whole Chocobos, two whole Tigerlilies (one of which is clearly guarding the Chocobos), and one whole horse. Sometimes two horses, but the grey wandering one is wearing a plaque that says “I BITE. PET ME CAREFULLY.”

Yes, ST-chan is invited! I’m leaving it to them to top-level or tag out at their leisure. Keep an eye out for the bunny god, they’re Coming.

Plenty of people would rather stay here than head home.

Especially with nights like these... I can't blame them.

Oh, and you don't miss pizza?

[That's the closest he gets to levity in casual conversation without skewing toward gallows humor.]

This is a once in a year kind of thing right here.

[ That gets her to crack a smile, at least. ]

I'm not sure why I would ever miss pizza.

Or things like hot coffee with flavored creamers.

[ Ugh, she misses coffee so much. ]

Coffee.

[God he misses coffee. He misses it, even if he really doesn't need another vice on top of the one he already has.]

Never thought I'd miss instant. [But oh my god, instant coffee. Coffee without needing to harvest and grind the damn beans yourself. Sounds like an untold fucking luxury.]

[ She lets out a wistful sigh. ]

Flavored instant coffee.

[ She thinks for a moment. ]

How about this... I'll ask for some instant coffee, and I'll be more than happy to share with you.

Well, I was thinking of asking for a coffeemaker. Denny could use one.

[What's a Denny without shitty coffee? It's barely a Denny at all. It's not even a Denny's.]

Every Denny needs a coffeemaker.

[ She laughs a little. ]

I was surprised to see one here. And it's not quite the same, but... it's nice to have a good reminder of home.

Well, it's not exactly much of a restaurant. It used to be some kinda mess hall, and no one was doing anything with it.

[He's not sure it even counts as a restaurant, exactly. It's not like people are paying for their meals. They just kind of show up to have somewhere to go. But that's pretty much exactly why he patched up the thing in the first place.]

Oh! That does make sense.

[ Honestly, she's glad it's the way it is. A lot better than the actual restaurant. ]

I wonder... would it be alright if I brought over a few things, every so often?

We more or less run off of, uh, donations, so that's fine by me.

[By "donations" he means that sometimes Gladio or the Knight drops off a dead animal or two, and Connor heralds the arrival of several more mysterious baskets, sometimes full of eggs.]

There's a storeroom in the back if you ever need to keep anything here.

Alright. I have a garden, and one of my friends... she can accelerate plant growth.

[ Only slightly, she regrets saying that. The part of her that still fears people hating her--and Nari--for their powers still hasn't been stifled completely. ]

So I have quite a few things that I haven't done anything with. I think everyone else would be able to enjoy them.

That's pretty handy.

[On the contrary, he sounds - maybe not pleased at this news, because Tim never sounds pleased about anything, but he sounds as close to intrigued as he gets.]

Place doesn't sap you dry too quick, does it? [Given how limited everyone's powers here generally are, it seems like a pertinent question.]

[ It's not as vague as she'd like, but. Welp. ]

She does get tired easily, though, if she uses her powers a lot.
