November Adventure: It's Easier to Bury

NEW ISLAND: MAATI
Who: Everyone!
What: Maati appears, and a new adventure begins
When: November 10th and onward
Where: Maati
Warnings: Tag as you go!

I Pray for the Ground to Swallow Me Whole
As of November 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Maati.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square, within the temple of the avatar that dwells here. Their temple is a sturdy thing, built into and around the chestnut trees that thread deeply into its very construction. The symbol of the eagle can be found nearly everywhere one looks.

Three guesses as to what shape the avatar of this land assumes.

Welcome to the new island of Maati! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

I have a great many names. Most have called me "Anbaki," but I answer to what I am called.
savedbyasong: (more smiles)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-11 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Anbaki. [He smiles.] It's nice to meet you. You have a very interesting temple. What are you a god of? [He assumes they are a god of something, all the others have been.]
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-11 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Said simply, matter-of-factly, without much fanfare:] I am the avatar of justice.
savedbyasong: (not sure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-11 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Justice. You punish wrongdoers?

[He hopes questions are alright, he's curious.]
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-11 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Wrongdoers by whose definition? Are we not all wrongdoers, in a sense? Have we not all made errors?
savedbyasong: (determiny)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-12 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. [He readily agrees to that. Everyone makes mistakes. Some mistakes are bigger and more harmful than others.]

You do not judge what is right and wrong then?
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-12 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
I did not say that. To punish wrongdoers is not the same as judging what is right and wrong.
savedbyasong: (you don't really mean that)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-13 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... [This... He shouldn't have come here alone. He should have brought Aster. Or Ceej. Ceej was better at talking to people, gods, anyone.] So you only punish those who do wrong, who makes the decisions?
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-13 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
[A short click of their beak.] I am not sure I would call it wrongness. We are all flawed creatures. We all make our mistakes; it is our job to learn from them.

Justice has many forms, many shapes, and many songs to sing.

Have you not made mistakes?
savedbyasong: (unsure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-13 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Many... [And he did his best to learn from them but many times he found himself making the same mistakes over and over. Falling into the same traps. He tried to learn but often it was hard.]
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-13 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. That does not mean, however, you cannot learn from them.
savedbyasong: (unsure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-13 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. It's important to make different choices the next time similar situations happen.

[Knowing something and doing it are two different things. But he tries.]
savedbyasong: (not sure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-14 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I try to. Sometimes I succeed.
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-14 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
You persevere. That is a wise thing to do.

[The words are approving; the avatar's voice is still...neutral. Polite, but neutral. Their tone is a difficult thing to read.]
savedbyasong: (small smile)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-15 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Perseverance is important. Nothing would get done if everyone gave up easily.
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
And yet, many do. And yet, many give up on understanding, when it would be wisest to endure.

It is seldom that simple. Justice, like most things, is seldom black and white.
savedbyasong: (not sure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-16 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing is simple. [He agrees. Justice is difficult. There are often so many factors and much of the time all those factors are not known. People are complicated and so that makes the judging of them complicated as well.]

Is there a god that judges people then? Before you deliver justice?
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-16 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
There is only me.

[There's a regal quality to the words; perhaps you would expect them to be followed up with a proud declaration, something along the lines of I Am The Law.]

[But they aren't.]

[There is only me.]

"Deliver justice." That is a strange epithet.
savedbyasong: (unsure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-16 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Only them... The words were proud but Shion wondered. Had it always only been them? One god to bring justice to these islands.]

Is it? I'm sorry... I don't know any other way to put it.
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-16 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
To "deliver" justice would imply that I am required to be present in some capacity, to serve as some great invisible judge.

This is not the case. Justice exists without my input. I simply give it a voice.
savedbyasong: (not sure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-16 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I don't understand. [Shion tilted his head and reached into his knapsack for his notebook.] So you are the god of the concept of justice, rather than one who brings justice...

thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-16 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I am not sure how best to explain it. [But, they are patient, and thus they can try.]

I suppose you can think of it as such: the gods and avatars you have met, the epitomize certain things, do they not?
savedbyasong: (unsure)

[personal profile] savedbyasong 2018-11-19 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes they do. [He nodded. Story Telling, Harvest, Bliss. Each one symbolised the concept they were named for.]
thankgods: (justice.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-11-19 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
And who have you met, exactly? Our pantheon is numerous, and I'm not certain which of my ilk you've encountered.
