I Pray for the Ground to Swallow Me Whole
As of November 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Maati.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square, within the temple of the avatar that dwells here. Their temple is a sturdy thing, built into and around the chestnut trees that thread deeply into its very construction. The symbol of the eagle can be found nearly everywhere one looks.

Three guesses as to what shape the avatar of this land assumes.

I am not sure how best to explain it. [But, they are patient, and thus they can try.]

I suppose you can think of it as such: the gods and avatars you have met, the epitomize certain things, do they not?

Yes they do. [He nodded. Story Telling, Harvest, Bliss. Each one symbolised the concept they were named for.]

And who have you met, exactly? Our pantheon is numerous, and I'm not certain which of my ilk you've encountered.

The Story Teller obviously and Harv. They were at the last island we explored, Nuidan.

[Not mentioning Bliss, Shion is many things but brave or stupid enough to tell a god he helped kill one of their pantheon is not one of them.]

Harv, yes...though I knew them best as Churnpeg. Mm.

Well, look at it this way: stories exist regardless of whether the Storyteller is around or not, yes? Just as bounty and plenty exist with or without the presence of Harv.

I understand. So justice exists whether you are there or not you just... have that as what you symbolise. [So what was the point of gods at all? Shion knew the Story Teller got their power from the stories told, but how had they survived before them? Was it just extra power?] Do you get your power from justice being upheld?

I give it a voice.

[Which is something like a "yes," and something like a "not quite," but they do not elaborate on either.]

My strength comes from the weighing of one's soul.

[He nodded] So understanding ourselves what we have done right and what we have done wrong?

That is not how I would put it, though I imagine some would. It is more...how one can do better.

So making up for our crimes and mistakes is what brings you power?

[Doing better, it was an interesting idea. That the act of making up for a wrong would give a god power. But if stories could do so Shion supposed anything could.]

Trying to do better, I would say. An earnest attempt to better oneself. That is what...sustains me, in a sense.

I understand. [Better than he had before. A god who was sustained on attempts to better oneself. To do better and learn from your mistakes. It was how Shion lived, constantly trying to do better than he had before.]

I think it is something that will never fade, people's attempts to do better.

Perhaps that is why I am still here.
