Clothing Adventures - September [MINGLE]
Who: You!
What: A mountain of spare clothes has been made available in one of the rooms in the Storyteller’s Temple. Come get some freebies! Last month’s log is here.
When: This log is centered around the 4th- 14th Sept, but the Clothes Mountain will be around throughout September.
Where: The Storyteller’s Temple.
Warnings: none expected- mark on individual toplevels as needed.
NOTE: The Clothes Mountain provides free, roughly modern-style clothing to any and all. Some guidelines are here- go wild in putting your characters in weird and unusual outfits. However, in the interests of leaving enough for others we ask that characters don’t hoard too many pieces of clothing (as an estimate… under five full sets/ten pieces of clothes?) Thank you!
So.
It’s exactly what it says on the tin.

The Director | OTA
All right then. Time to find some things to wear.
He picks through the pile and sets aside anything that doesn't work for him, eventually finding some casual outfits that would work, with jeans and hoodies. He makes a bit of a face. He's been wearing his uniform for so long he doesn't know how he'd feel in jeans and a hoodie. But casual clothing seems to be the specialty of whoever provided all of this.
no subject
"Have you found anything? So much of this looks unusual to me."
no subject
Though he hasn't run across any sweatpants to go with the hoodies, yet anyway.
"I'm used to wearing a uniform, that's all," he adds, figuring the person who spoke must have seen his expression. "I used to wear things like this when I was younger but...it's been a long time."
He's gathered a few things—all the T-shirts seem to have legends on them, but he had found a few blank ones, as well as a fairly clever novelty shirt he wouldn't have minded wearing. He spread them out for Ray to see.
"These are the ones I've decided on for now," he explains.
no subject
She smiles at the shirt, though the deeper meaning of the slogan is lost on her. She has a healthy respect for scholars, one of those jobs she assumed she wouldn't be able to do in her future. "Are you a researcher?"
no subject
He looks at the shirt for a long moment, then slings it over his shoulder.
"That all seems very far away nowadays."

Kaworu Nagisa | OTA | It's fine he wears boxers
So... ostensibly, this is... a good thing? The sudden availability of new clothes, that is. He's definitely willing to take his share of these spoils.
Trouble is, he's blind.
He wasn't just a couple weeks ago, but apparently it's a 'consequence' has to endure for 'dying,' if such an impermanent demise can really be called death at all. Even the blindness is temporary, apparently. What is even the point?
He sits cross-legged by a pile of clothes, picking up items very much at random and holding them up, trying to figure out if any particular article approximates a wearable size. A pile of rejects to his left, a guesstimated selection of truly uncoordinated choices to his right.
Or that's what you find if you're lucky. If you're less lucky, you might find him in the process of unbuttoning his collared shirt (it used to be white) or pulling his orange t-shirt over his head, or taking off his shoes, or standing up to... wait, is he unbuttoning his pants?!

Every so often, he bends over to sort through the pile a bit more insistently and something swings out from behind the neck of his shirt: a locket, golden and heart-shaped. It's swiftly and immediately tucked back beneath his shirt as soon as it catches the light.
He also scores a hat, though, which he decides to keep for no other besides the fact that he doesn't have a hat for the cold weather, and it fits.

[In Connor's arm are a number of things - mostly terrible tie-dye, but there's also several striped shirts for good measure.]
no subject
[Tim doesn't telegraph delight very well, considering that his face seems more or less predisposed to a perpetual frown, but the lift of his eyebrows indicates...something that maybe comes close.]
[Sometimes being depressed in tacky clothing is just the best you can do, and that's usually good enough for him.]
Alabama. That's pretty good.
no subject
[Connor is currently wearing a black tank top that says "nope, not today satan" on it so. He feels like he got his money's worth here honestly.]
Anyway, you are from Alabama, right? I couldn't remember if it was Alabama or Georgia so there's also one from Georgia in there.
[It's, uh. Well. It sure is.]
no subject
[He almost sounds - well, he sounds pretty close to amused. Happy is always a stretch with him, but he certainly sounds better than he usually does.]
I see you're using your powers for good. We could all do with a little more color. [Sometimes you accomplish this by painting nails. Sometimes you do it by asking for ridiculous tie-dye shirts.]

Maybe she should be looking for something functional. But right now her priority is clear, and that priority is fuck sleeves.]
no subject
She pauses--one of the galaxy animal shirts in hand--when she noticed what the person nearby is doing.]
Is there something the matter with the sleeves?
no subject
They're bullshit. Makes it harder to punch stuff. This'll give way more shoulder space.
[Because that's. Totally most people's priorities, huh.]
Besides, it looks, like, really cool.
no subject
I didn't realize it made such a difference.
[She considers the person before her with curiosity and slight wariness. Woman soldiers aren't unheard of where she's from, though she hasn't met many herself.]
Are you a soldier, in that case?
no subject
No? I just hit shit.
[Technically, she's a librarian. Technically.]
Really, more of the 'person you can pay to hit shit', but on the short term.

Anthy Himemiya | OTA
Chuchu, wait! We don't know if we can touch any of those...
[But no one's really stopping him, and he's...pulled out the sleeve of a sweater and flaps it about with joy.]
...Oh, my. Are all of them...
[Well, now she's curious. What will you do when you see this strange new arrival picking through the offerings, biting the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing at some of these incredible prints?
I think you should get her to take some with her.]
no subject
You know, pretty sure you can just take these. They're free. Or at least, nobody's guarding them, so.
[So they're basically free. Someone probably would've said something by now, right? Sure. She's already got a tank top pulled over her typical crop top, the arms frayed a bit like it's either a stylistic choice or she may have actually pulled the sleeves off this thing.]
Lots of other people taking stuff, anyway.
no subject
It's because the shirt is ironic.]
It...does seem that way. But everything is so...I've never seen clothing like this before.
[Fancy academies in 1990's Japan don't usually allow for large furry hoods or galaxy print on anything.]
no subject
[She had her own experience of wondering what was up with these things before she got completely charmed by most of them. Or at least a bunch of tank tops.]
I mean, you might as well. Try it, I mean. Like, it's free, and a skirt like that is gonna be hard to do anything in.
[With a little gesture to her current uniform.]
Just like, go with it. If we're really gonna be... wherever this is, now's the time for somethin' cool.
no subject
[But her role had mandated it. Still...some pants would be nice, for once. Or maybe leggings? These in particular are actually quite fitting. Anthy pulls them out of the pile and drapes them over one arm.]
If that's so, then...what would you think is cool?

she gets to the mountain and starts rummaging through it. she's actually digging pretty ferociously, like she knows what she's looking for.
she stays away from the graphic tees and winds up picking out a few sweaters like these. she takes a handful of them before stumbling across something interesting: a pair of shorts. they're cute. she digs it. and they look comfortable. finally, she ends her expedition with grabbing a few basic tanktops and jeans, because sweaters won't really work with hot weather.
she definitely has a Lot of clothes. she moves to the side and drops them onto the ground before sitting down on the temple's grounds, folding them nicely. ]
That went a lot better than I thought it would.
no subject
Here, try this one~
[Because making clothing recommendations for people she'd never met was just the best idea.]
no subject
Oh-! Hey, thanks! [ she appreciates it! really. ] I probably should've picked up a few more t-shirts, because I think I went way too overboard with the sweaters.
no subject
You're welcome! I'm not sure I could pull that one off with a straight face, but I figured someone should be wearing it~
