( occasionally shiro swings by here—there's a certain charm to the name after all—although he's been meaning to ask about helping out. he's just not gotten a chance to yet with everything else that has been going on.

for now, he's taken to a seat just to have a place to think for a moment. )

[Sometimes Keith comes by. He's been keeping tabs on where people are since he's been in motion going back and forth between Umui and Enso.

He steps through the doorway and spots Shiro as he tugs his hood back, the mask dis-engaging.]

Shiro. Got a moment? [He steps towards him as he slides his glass-like knife back into its sheath on his hip.]

( it never gets any less weird to see keith in that outfit and mask. he had always looked much better wearing the paladin armour.

he glances up towards keith as soon as he speaks, showing that he has his full attention. )

Yea. What's up?

Just wanted to talk to you about what's been going on. [He's kept himself busy. That's the name of everything he's done since Bliss. It hasn't stopped. It feels like a fire has been lit. Or maybe he's running away from problems again.]

With the notes and discoveries on Umui. [There are the transcriptions on the community rock and evidence left about. Keith drops into the seat opposite of Shiro. He still carries around the original scroll in his backpack. He sets the backpack by his feet.]

Thought maybe going over it we'd find something I might have missed.

( considering keith's track record, it's most likely the latter. keith is excellent at a lot of things, but running most of all.

but in all actuality, he's impressed for how well that keith has been keeping track of everything. he has been consistently putting in the work and effort needed for detailed reports. )

That's a great idea. Where do you want to start?

[Keith opens his backpack and produces the scroll they found and sets it on the table.]

Right at the beginning. [He unrolls it and turns the relic so Shiro can see it.]

There's been a recent page that makes it hard to judge when this occurred. ...but it looks like A.E 21 is the earliest date in their calendar.

[The Denny is about as close as you can get to anywhere close to society on the island, so it's become a favorite spot for Lance when he's not on Umui.

Seeing that Shiro's there just makes him even happier he's not in Flower Hell, though the grin that crosses Lance's face as he slides into a seat across from him might...

Might not be the most reassuring thing.]

Shiro! Enjoying the coconuts?

( there is nothing comforting about the look that lance is giving him as he approaches, sliding in the chair in front of him with a strange sort of ease. it's a little concerning. )

( which is true. he's only had tea so far today. )

You coming by for something to eat?

I'm more a fan of the ambiance.

[You know, trash island chic? He loves it.]

And the company! [Which includes you, Shiro. He rests props his elbow up on the table, raising an eyebrow.] Been spending a lot of time over on Umui, y'know? Haven't gotten to see a lot of people who've been hanging back a lot.

[There is something he's angling for, but for now he's, bless his heart, trying to be subtle about it.]

( lance, your taste is bad. )

You're right about the company. ( meaning, obviously, lance in this instance. ) It's a comfortable enough place to take a break at.

( especially they're so far and few inbetween.

then he offers lance a smile. )

Are you referring to me?

[Rude! He is the only person here WITH taste!]

Yeah. [And it is, for the first time since sitting down, a genuinely sincere smile on his face.] I feel like I've been away too long.

[There's a pause, before the smug look on his face comes back.]

But I've been meaning to ask you about something, now that we've got the time...

I understand the feeling.

( there's a tiny laugh at that. it feells comfortable until that irritating expression slides back over lance's face. whatever he's going to ask is going to be weird, he's sure of it. )

And what's that?

[You brought this on yourself, Shiro.

Or, well, technically Keith did, because Keith is a fool who exposed his soft underbelly to Lance.]

It's about Keith. There's something he's not telling me that you might know about... From back when the Jormun were here, having a party.

[propugnator]

( poor, poor keith. he did nothing to deserve this.

I don't think there's anything to tell about Keith. The person who embarrassed themself was me.

[And now Shiro has exposed his soft underbelly to Lance!]

Really? Because Keith seemed pretty embarrassed about it - kept turning red whenever I tried to talk to him about it.

[He tilts his head, doing his best to look innocent.]

But he said you were there and knew what he got up to at the party, and that I should ask you about it if I wanted to know.

[Which is the complete opposite of what Keith told him to do - not that Shiro would know.]

( actually, he knows damn well that keith wouldn't have said that to him because he has some common sense. there's no way that he would encourage it. in fact, he would bet that keith tried to forbid him. )

No, he didn't, Lance.

( lie better. )

I just embarrassed him a little. Do you feel disappointed that you missed it?

[Well, Keith isn't the boss of him, so even if he did tell him not to talk to Shiro about it, he's not going to stop.]

A little bit.

[He's getting nowhere with this. Which isn't exactly surprising but it is incredibly disappointing.]

I don't know what you could have done that would be so bad Keith wouldn't want to talk about it. I mean, after everything we've been through...

You should have come to the party. Next time, you should try to swing by.

( it was, mostly, a good time. slightly leaning back in his chair, he bites back the urge to laugh. lance was too excited for this.

he deserves to get his hopes dashed. )

What, so Keith can drink me under the table because of his Galra genes? [Normally, Lance would take this as a challenge, but he also doesn't want to like.

Die.]

I dunno - I mean, I wouldn't think so, but. [He shrugs.] Whatever it is must be pretty bad if Keith got so angry over talking about it.

Does it have to be a competition with Keith?

( honestly. )

I think you're reading too much into it. It's probably only because you were the one asking.

No! [Yes.] I'm just saying, he likes to show off.

[He as in Keith. Obviously. Even though Lance is the one who starts most of their "competitions".]

What's that supposed to mean? Why wouldn't he want to talk to me about this? We're...We're friends! Aren't we?

I think that's for Keith to say, but you're definitely like. . . family. And sometimes family aren't the easiest people to talk to.

Because it is weird! And the point- [He gestures with both hands, and it's unfortunate Shiro has started them down this path.] The point is you two are hiding something from me.
