EXPLORATION EVENT: NEVERWERE

Where: Ziziphus, those still on Ensō...and Mu

Then Know That My Life Was Just a Killer Dream
You can find most of the information you need in the OOC info post! In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for your dream worlds, as well as detailing your efforts to free one another. Whether they're on Ziziphus or Ensō at the time of the dreams' capture, your character is free to access as many dreams as you like, as the interlocking mental landscape allows for that sort of crossing over apropos of nothing. And time, of course, is very fluid in dreams - many days, months, and years can transpire in a matter of mere minutes.

Will you fight your way free from Ziziphus's vines or Mu's thrall, or are you content to die in your sleep?

Remember to let us know if your character dies during this event!

"And that fire will catch. These vines are probably highly flammable and they are twisted around everyone. I woke up in them, the others who are still sleeping will be burried by them."

Shion's voice is perhaps sterner than Dagger has every heard it. But he understands, the urge to destroy is rising in him as well. Aster was out there and she was trapped. Trapped in a dream.

He would tear apart the whole island if he thought it would help but he has to stay calm. She could be anywhere, he needed to search.

"You have to stay calm."

"Which part of, I can control my fire, are you missing?"

He never actually said that ever, but close enough dang it. His eyes flash once again, and he fangs Shion. It's a high insult in his culture and one he rarely ever uses. That alone shows how pissed off he is, though not directly at Shion.

"Not exactly known for my calm."

Shion stares back, meeting his eyes and not flinching at the show of fangs. It's not that he's unafraid. It's just that Dagger being angry at him, Dagger hurting him would be infinitely preferable to Aster being in danger.

"You're telling me your in control and you're telling me you are not known for calm." Which is it? Shion didn't take his eyes off him as he stepped closer. "I know... Whatever that attack was it used our minds against us. I know that's..."

Awful, was what that was. He knows enough from the little Dagger has told him, their conversation at the Story Telling to know that his dream was cruel. Crueler than Shion's. Shion's at least... A future like that could still happen. It would be difficult but not impossible.

But nothing could change the past.

"We need to find others, try and see if we can wake them and get them out of those roots."

He's so exhausted, every part of him is screaming at him to rest even if he spent however long he had asleep and trapped in dreams.

"Both. I'm in control of the fire. Literally. I can control it. I'm also a pissed off Andarion not knowing for making the most logical or safe decisions. My plans usually involve self destruction."

This one was probably no different. While he wouldn't hurt anyone else, it was basically a guarantee that he would pay for his destruction.

"Why should I?"

It's an automatic growled response. One Jullien doesn't really think about and also doesn't mean. He's still so furious from what he experience in his dream. Reliving that has pushed him back into the defensive, prickly Jules he'd been before finding Ushara. He hadn't cared about anyone then because nobody had given a shit about him.

"Right." What a pair they made. Shion breathed. He had to stay calm. Had to rescue Aster and Ceej and anyone else who was trapped here. He had to do all of that, keep himself in control and also protect Dagger from his own self.

Breathing. All plans had to start with breathing. Red eyes flashed anger as he turned at Dagger's response. He bit down his anger. Dagger was hurting. Dagger had been hurt and was struggling with the aftermath of his dream.

"Why wouldn't you?"

It's quiet and only half a real question. He's not completely naive. Not any more. But this has been an attack and they are clealy among the first people to escape, it is their job to make sure they rescue who they can.

That's what those who recovered quickest did, helped others.

"Lot of reasons. The first one being nobody has ever given a shit about me."

Not until Ushara. He turned away from Shion and glared out into the distance. While that had been his excuse for a long time, and still was a valid one for the most part, it had never been the biggest reason why he'd never tried to help anyway. His jaw clenched and released a few times before he decided he would give Shion the real truth.

"The second one being everyone would think I have an ulterior motive. It's a hell of a lot better not to get involved. That way I don't have to face the looks of accusation for doing something good."

While he never outwardly showed it, he was tired of that.

Shion frowned, opened his mouth to tell him that that wasn't true. Shion cared about him. But... It wasn't enough. He had just been in Dagger's dream after all and knew... if all those people hadn't cared about him in reality and the dream had used that...

He wasn't enough. His frown grew as Dagger continued. He doubted that anyone would think that. He imagined that most people would just be grateful to be found.

"Why would they think that? Here on these islands? No one really knows you. At all. All we know of you is what you show us and if you show yourself to be someone who helps others... People aren't going to doubt that."

He shakes his head. "I know it's...." He looked around. "I'm going to find Aster. You don't have to come but... You were brought to these islands and though that's not a good thing... you are involved. Already. Because you are one of those stolen here. You can help or not but all people here know of you is your actions... not what happened before, not who you were just... They know Dagger and you..."

He's really bad at this, he's still reeling from his own dream. From Aster's dream and Ceej's dream. From Dagger's dream. It's all muddled and he just looks at Dagger sadly, as if he could will what he was trying to say into his mind. Dagger clearly came from somewhere where people expected the worst of him. But here no one expected anything. It was like a second chance.

Shion was definitely wrong about that. When you had no one, one person was always enough. Having one person who cared was a whole new feeling. When you aren't used to something, the smallest part of it means the world. A single pea means little to someone who eats at a buffet each night, but to someone who is starting that pea is worth a few tears of gratitude.

"Because I am, actually, an asshole. It's the vibe I've always put out to protect myself. That, and I actually am an asshole. People here don't have as much to hate me for, but they'll still manage I'm sure. I can count the number of people who tolerate me on one hand."

And Aster is one of them.

"I'll help you find Aster and free her, but that's it. For you."

"I've never gotten that feeling from you." Shion meets his eyes again with a serious expression. "Not once have I thought you an asshole."

Since meeting in the strange dream world, Mu. Dagger had been kind, had been helpful. Had tried to help Shion after Ai'Tuoh. He had said then that he was not a good person.

Shion should have tried harder to convince him otherwise.

Right now though he nodded, "Thank you." His gratitude was obvious in his voice, he reached out to offer a hand to Dagger to help him to his feet if he accepted it.

"You're probably the only one."

And more because he didn't know Jules that well yet. Even Jullien would deny that he was pretty much an asshole. Even his friends knew that. Shion simply hadn't been around him long enough to get a full taste of an uncensored Jules.

He took the offered hand. Maybe, eventually, they would become close enough that Shion would get that uncensored look.
