EXPLORATION EVENT: NEVERWERE

Where: Ziziphus, those still on Ensō...and Mu

Then Know That My Life Was Just a Killer Dream
You can find most of the information you need in the OOC info post! In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for your dream worlds, as well as detailing your efforts to free one another. Whether they're on Ziziphus or Ensō at the time of the dreams' capture, your character is free to access as many dreams as you like, as the interlocking mental landscape allows for that sort of crossing over apropos of nothing. And time, of course, is very fluid in dreams - many days, months, and years can transpire in a matter of mere minutes.

Will you fight your way free from Ziziphus's vines or Mu's thrall, or are you content to die in your sleep?

Event Timeline

That's illogical [He lies down as well on his stomach facing Connor, he has a textbook which he props up on Connor's chest, it's heavy.] If physics were homophobic then it would inconvenience all gay people. Not just you. There are gay physicians, I've never been inconvenienced by physics so your argument is false.

[There's a flicker, as if some of those words aren't quite familliar to Shion, but all is well a moment later and he's leafing through the textbook] Forces and terminal velocity or calculating energy efficiency? [See he's even giving a choice on what equasions to learn]

It's facts that gay people are statistically worse at math than the Straights™. [Yes, he says "TM."] I am literally too gay for this. I don't even know what you're trying to teach me.

[Feel free to point out he's technically bi.]

It's not facts Con. You can't be too gay for math, if there was a correlation between how gay you were and math then I'd be terrible at it. You'd be somewhere between being awful and being as good as the Staights [He doesn't say TM. ]

I will do research and present it as a paper to prove it! [He might be joking. But you can never be too sure. He might take it upon himself to research any connection between mathamatical ability and sexuality.]

[He tries Really Hard to, like. Be involved in all of Shion's cool research and side projects about Science, but sometimes it's super boring.]

[He pouts, but for like two seconds. He knows what Connor's attention span is when it comes to acedemics, he loves him for even trying to be interested in everything Shion does.]

Shion, not Alex [He smiles and flicks to the correct page] Okay so what is the formula that links force, mass and acceleration?

No, like Jeopardy. Alex Trebek? [There's a note of confusion in Connor's voice, because something is pinging his paranoia and he's trying to tamp it down.] Come on, you've seen Jeopardy.

[There's a moment of silence, but then Shion looks up from the textbook with a slightly exasperated grin] Of course I have, you and Evan pinned me down and made me watch six hours of reruns last month [Realistically it was a couple of episodes but Connor has a rival in the drama department here]

Remember [The most dramatic sigh] As if it's my fault I don't have a TV.

[He's an only child and his mum might have caved and bought one if Shion had ever asked, so it probably... is his fault. But whatever, Shion mostly puts up with Connor's attempts to 'educate' him in all the things he is missing, just like Con puts up with Shion's attempts to teach him math.]

Right. Sorry, I - my paranoia shit has been super fucking bad lately. I just feel like everything is . . . wrong. [Connor brings a hand up and boops Shion on the nose.] But that's why I have you, right? To teach me dumb math shit I don't need and tell me I'm just overthinking things.

[Shion smiles as his nose is booped, chasing away the worry that had crossed it a moment before. He wriggles so he is lying next to Connor properly and stares into his eyes the textbook largely forgotten, Shion is the worst tutor

He reaches out to tuck a strand of Connor's hair behind his ear] You're overthinking things Con. Nothing is wrong, it's just us here. Just you and me and we can do anything, even if math is biased against gays, we will defeat it together. [They can do anything]

[Connor laughs, real and genuine. Even now it's not something he does all that often, but he's stopped startling himself when he does it at least. That's progress, right?]

You're fucking adorable, you know that? Best thing that's ever happened to me, I swear.

[Shion could listen to Con laugh all day. Really this is what he should be researching, what exactly he does, words, actions. Anything that gets Con to laugh, properly laugh. That would be true science worth knowing. He blushes and absently twirls Connor's hair around his finger.]

No. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm really glad you're here.

[Connor reaches out to run his fingers through Shion's hair, humming something, because he actually only knows like four words in Zoe's terrible Taylor Swift song and they are:]

. . . you are the best thing that ever been mine.

[Studying? Yeah, no. He's distracted now and that's not happening unless Shion makes him learn something.]

[No studying is happening. Shion is the worst tutor, but he'd like to think he's an alright boyfriend. Connor's hair is twisted around his finger and he smiled again when Connor started to hum.

In fact there seemed to be music... somewhere. Perhaps Zoe is playing it in her room. It's faint and Shion can only half hear it. He couldn't name the tune.]

You don't have to tell me how much you like me. [It's obvious. For one, but also sometimes Con acts like Shion is this amazing person, like he is so lucky to have him when really. It's the other way round.]

You don't have to convince me. [Like Connor is scared he's not enough. Like he doesn't realise that Shion is thankful every day for him just existing.

What they've got going is good.]

[Being around Shion is nice? It's - hanging around Evan gets weird sometimes, because there's . . . he's not made of glass. He doesn't need to be reminded of all that's been broken. He doesn't need his friends to fix what he'd rather forget.]

I'll clear the slate and start over, try to quiet the noises in my head - you can't compete with all that. [Connor shifts closer, setting the textbook Shion had brought down on the floor instead.] So let it be us. What if it's us and only us? And what came before won't count anymore or matter? Can we try that?

It'll be you and it'll be me. [He stares at Connor the way he does sometimes. Like if he all but blinks he will disappear, like Shion is trying to memorise everything about him. Here, with just the two of them. That's all that it needs to be. They don't get much studying done but here, when he is with Connor.

It's like the rest of the world falls away. Nothing else matters, not Connor's looming tests, nothing.]

I'm always shocked that someone like you even likes me. [It's a murmer, Connor is older, way more talented and generally cooler than Shion and sometimes it's hard to fight the urge to write a whole list of all the reasons Connor shouldn't let him go, to convince him he's good enough.]

[yourattention]

I mean - [Connor laughs, touching their foreheads together.] Babe, I'll give you ten thousand reasons to not let me go.

[Because - because Shion sees him for him and only him and that's. That's all Connor's wanted for longer than Shion could possibly know.]

So it can be us and only us.

[And only us. He rests his forhead on Con's. Often it was so... Everyone was worried about Con still and so was Shion but he tried his best to not be, not when he was around Con anyways. Because that was then and if they lived in the past they would miss all of this right now.

So what came before didn't count anymore or matter, not at all.]

[In someone else's mouth, it could be an innuendo. When Connor says it, it's more like a plea. Jared is always making fun of him for consistently not making a move, but he just -

Shion believes in him. Shion says that it's possible to have everything he thought he never would.]

You always just make the whole world disappear until you're the only one I still know how to see.

[He should kiss Shion, but he doesn't. There's a reason why he's not supposed to, but it's slipping his mind.]

[There's a moment where it's them and only them, Shion's forhead pressed against Connor's where he felt he should lean forwards and kiss him. But something stops him. He shouldn't, it would be wrong.

Why would it be wrong to kiss his boyfriend? The moment passes, though Shion continues to stare into Con's eyes, red meeting blue. It didn't matter really, if there was a reason or not. This was all that they needed it to be.

Here, them. The rest of the world falling away around them.]
