Let's Train in 100 Times Gravity

Who: Anyone who wants to come by! Tag in, thread with Yuka, thread with each other, whatever you want.
What: Combat training/practice.
When: Sunset, each night for a week minimum.
Where: East end of Islet 1.
Warnings: Possible blood if things get out of hand, implied 80s training montage songs

Yuka chose this location because the ground was level, there was enough space for people to move around, and nobody was really using it for anything else. No wild beasts, no fish people to disturb, no strange psychological effects... the ideal place for people to gather for an hour or two and get some good-natured fighting in. The snow on the ground wasn't ideal, she supposed, but that stuff was everywhere, so they'd just have to make do. It'd probably be snowing during the invasion, anyway.

Each evening, as the sun inched towards the horizon, Yuka set her other tasks aside to come out and wait. Jug of wassail sitting at the edge of the space, bundled in warm clothes and scarves, Yuka paced, wondering if this was really going to be worth the time. Are there people willing to spend that much time to train others when there's so much else that needs doing? Can someone even learn enough to make a difference in this little time? For that matter, are these shadow monsters something you can even fight with your fists? If nothing else, it would be good to do some physical activity in just to get her mind to stop going in circles.

For those who arrived early, there would be less to do, but even just talking through what different fighting skills people had would be useful for later on. Once more people arrived, those who use similar weapons could work together, and those with more combat experience could work with those with less. Or, people who know each other or are curious about each other's abilities could seek each other out for a sparring match.

So: Fight, teach, learn, take breaks, drink, chat. Bring your own wassail if you can - Yuka's can only stretch so far.

[Ah, hello tiny bug friend! You must be new.

McCree is going to take that nod for what it is - an offer to help. He crouches down, picking up that white hexagon, as he turns to the Knight.]

Y'got any weapons on you?

[ They pull out their sword and nod at McCree. It's small, but it's obviously pretty sharp!

They wander over to take a closer look at that white hexagon, scrutinising it and bringing all their knowledge and experience to bear.

..................Nope.

They have no idea what it could be for. But they're ready for anything!

[A sword will....probably help? Probably.

It takes a little bit of fiddling, but McCree figures it out eventurally. Then, without ceremony, he drops the hexagon on the ground.

Though the barrier makes enough of a show to make up for that. The silver tabs fold down, stabilizing it, as a blue light sprouts from the center of the lens. At the apex it splits into a bubble that covers the two of them - about 7 feet tall, though not very wide. With how small the night is, the two fit in comfortably, but if another adult human were to walk in? It'd probably start getting cramped.]

Y'wanna do me a favor and try to walk through it?

[And if the Knight does, they'll find - the barrier doesn't feel like much of anything, and it doesn't impede their movement at all.]

[ They stare in wonder as the barrier unfolds itself, looking from the strange device to the surface of the bubble and back again.

They attempt to touch it, at first, before McCree actually asks them to do something, and they obediently walk on through without resistance.

Then they go back and forth for several rounds, because this appears to amuse them. Eventually, they stop in front of the cowboy, looking up at him. Was that supposed to happen?

[Holy shit. That's adorable - though McCree can relate. He might have well been an adult the first time he saw a barrier in action, but he can still remember being entranced by how something like that just - existed.]

Right- at least that seems to be in order... Now, you just got that little sword?

[Would calling it a knife be rude? Does size even matter with these sorts of classifications?

Whatever. A knife is a knife is a sword.]

[ They draw the sword, looking at McCree and nodding, and then at the barrier. They're smart enough to take a guess at what the next step is.

So they're going to take a swing right at the strange light. The sword whooshes through the air with a surprising amount of force.
