October Intro: Aftermath Mingle

Who: All!
What: Now that you've all committed monkey genocide, it's time to clean up and go home.
When: Evening of the intro log- and onwards!
Where: The Monkey Compound, Islets, etc.
Warnings: Mark as you go!

Congratulations on effectively reversing the tables, adventurers. As the hunted become the hunters, the remaining simians begin to retreat into the jungle, disappearing from sight as the drumming dies down, before extinguishing entirely.

It appears that you have won.

Now it's time to clean up.

Those still in the Monkey Compound may wish to begin scavenging what they can, from multiple coconut guns to rudimentary spears. There's a flock of Bludroc happy to be herded to a new home, several stashes of fresh fruit to be found... and a rather large iron pot, for the particularly bold.

Others may be more concerned with returning to the islets and securing the personal belongings that were left behind. There are new people to settle in, as well; and undoubtedly, a few injuries yet to be healed.

Reunite, rejoice, recover. And perhaps, should you see the Storyteller about- ask a few questions.

Nor am I.

[That's worry, undeniably. A unilateral concern for whatever might be within.]

You may always find a way in. But that does not mean whatever lies within cannot find a way out, as well.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, too. [Newt rubs a hand across his eyes, making a frustrated sound.]

Is it better to keep whatever is in there sealed and hope that it doesn't bite us in the ass, or is it better to know what's coming and get it over with? [...that question is absolutely rhetorical]
story_teller: (The woods are lovely dark and deep;)

[personal profile] story_teller 2017-10-10 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[He likes questions so much; how are they meant to know which are rhetorical and which are not?] Personally, the former seems more prudent. You are, after all, reasonably more stocked with supplies now, thanks to your genocide.

[Newt's eyes narrow at that, and he just...flips the Storyteller the bird. Like an adult.

Once that's done, however, he sits up with a huff]

Alright, well, I guess that's something to go on for the next couple of days until the next shitstorm rolls through. I still have some questions about water though, because that shit's still way too vague.

[What? They don't mince their words. That's precisely what it was.]

For now I would that I've answered enough of your questions. [Particularly since he made no effort to distinguish between the rhetorical and the not.]

[Newt wrinkles his nose at that]

Questions about a thing that you need answers for also, dude. So I'd say that's up for debate.

Then perhaps you ought to come up with a list prior to engagement.

I would, if I had anything to write with. [grumping, at that. It's really really annoying to not be able to write or record anything aside from scratching the days off on the wall.]

[...hm.]

I'll take it under advisement. It's my understanding that paper is a difficult thing to devise from scratch.

[They could probably grant him some...if someone wasn't so adamant on not participating in Storytellings, and making it much easier for them to help him.]

Generally, yeah. [Yes, well, we all know how likely that is to take place after the next week happens l o l]

So....water. I get that you're not a fan, but I've been trying to quantify the water thing and, like...is the water a god like you? Or what is it? Because where I'm from, water isn't sentient.

[personal profile] story_teller 2017-10-20 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There is an awful lot of it. Not very well-behaved, either; keeping it from dousing the lot of us further than it already has requires my constant attention.

[So, you know. You're welcome.]

[personal profile] ohnehalfte 2017-10-21 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Newt's eyebrows arch above his glasses at that--and he sits up a bit, curious] Yeah? So...it is sentient? But not a god, like you. [like that's some good info ST, but it doesn't answer the question.]
story_teller: (The woods are lovely dark and deep;)

[personal profile] story_teller 2017-10-25 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Not presently.

[Whether it has the potential to be, or could have been - well, that is somewhat more muddied, and considerably thematically so. Whatever happens, some might say, they'll leave it up to chance.]

[No they won't.]
ohnehalfte: (19)

[personal profile] ohnehalfte 2017-10-30 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...okay. [very good to know, and Newt files this away for later consideration] Are there any other gods in proximity to us at current?
story_teller: (The woods are lovely dark and deep;)

[personal profile] story_teller 2017-10-30 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Not presently, no.

[Their tail switches back and forth, and their furred chin lifts, looking out and across the horizon, possibly chasing the point in space where sea meets sky. Something in their gaze dulls and sharpens simultaneously, present in a twitching of ears and a rippling of the muscles of their flank.]

[And they look back.]

Are gods very quiet about their general existence, in your experience?
ohnehalfte: (103)

[personal profile] ohnehalfte 2017-11-18 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends. [Newt definitely observed that shift, and it has him watching them curiously] In my original world, yes. We never saw hide nor hair of them in reality. There were claims and there are religions revolving around writings left by God or whatever but...no. No actual Gods. The last couple places, however--yeah, the gods were way more vocal. In fact, they chatted with us on the regular, when they weren't torturing us, and you could request things from them for a price.

[personal profile] story_teller 2017-11-18 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I've the notion that, should there be further gods in the vicinity, they will make their presence quite well-known.

[You're probably better off trusting them where that's concerned, Newt. They'd know.]
