October Intro: Aftermath Mingle

Who: All!
What: Now that you've all committed monkey genocide, it's time to clean up and go home.
When: Evening of the intro log- and onwards!
Where: The Monkey Compound, Islets, etc.
Warnings: Mark as you go!

Congratulations on effectively reversing the tables, adventurers. As the hunted become the hunters, the remaining simians begin to retreat into the jungle, disappearing from sight as the drumming dies down, before extinguishing entirely.

It appears that you have won.

Now it's time to clean up.

Those still in the Monkey Compound may wish to begin scavenging what they can, from multiple coconut guns to rudimentary spears. There's a flock of Bludroc happy to be herded to a new home, several stashes of fresh fruit to be found... and a rather large iron pot, for the particularly bold.

Others may be more concerned with returning to the islets and securing the personal belongings that were left behind. There are new people to settle in, as well; and undoubtedly, a few injuries yet to be healed.

Reunite, rejoice, recover. And perhaps, should you see the Storyteller about- ask a few questions.

[A good point... if the Storyteller could predict things, he would've certainly said something earlier.]

So stuff like this will happen again, no matter what...

[He bites his lip.]

... All right! We got through this time, and we will again!

Always attacked and never destroyed... because thou mayest.

[The Storyteller rumbles approvingly, in a different, sonorous sort of cadence. It seems, perhaps, they are quoting something, though what that may be is left unsaid.]

Very good. Excellent. There are greater and rarer talents to offer than your sword, Mickey Mouse. Don't lose sight of your most powerful one.

[His... most powerful one?]

W-whaddya mean? What's my talent, if it ain't my sword?

[With the face of a gorilla, the Storyteller's smile is large and perhaps a little menacing, with sharp and uneven teeth, unnaturally white in their pink mouth. Yet their eyes crease at the edges, lined with something that may, perhaps, speak of fondness.]

[If gods were permitted to be fond.]

It's a poor Storyteller indeed who narrates over one's own development.

You will recognize that quality in time. Or, if not, you will find one new. For now, I suggest setting to the more obvious tasks that lie in front of you.

[Great, more puzzles to add to the pile. Well, Mickey will do what he always does - his very best.

He tips his hat politely. He knows he hasn't gotten too many useful answers, but that's fine. The smart people will ask the right questions.
]

... All right. We've got a lot of ground to cover and a lot of people to help. I'll do all that I can.

I know you will.

[And for that, one can almost imagine that they sound...grateful. An earnest charm is not easily found in this wind-worn and weather-blasted island, and yet this here is quite compelling evidence that such a thing can exist, despite all adversity.]

That is all any of us can ask.
