October Intro: Aftermath Mingle

Who: All!
What: Now that you've all committed monkey genocide, it's time to clean up and go home.
When: Evening of the intro log- and onwards!
Where: The Monkey Compound, Islets, etc.
Warnings: Mark as you go!

Congratulations on effectively reversing the tables, adventurers. As the hunted become the hunters, the remaining simians begin to retreat into the jungle, disappearing from sight as the drumming dies down, before extinguishing entirely.

It appears that you have won.

Now it's time to clean up.

Those still in the Monkey Compound may wish to begin scavenging what they can, from multiple coconut guns to rudimentary spears. There's a flock of Bludroc happy to be herded to a new home, several stashes of fresh fruit to be found... and a rather large iron pot, for the particularly bold.

Others may be more concerned with returning to the islets and securing the personal belongings that were left behind. There are new people to settle in, as well; and undoubtedly, a few injuries yet to be healed.

Reunite, rejoice, recover. And perhaps, should you see the Storyteller about- ask a few questions.

[Muffet blinks curiously.]

Yes, dearie. Should I not have?
forgetmenow: (016)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-07 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
No.

[Simple as that. She shouldn't have. No one should, not really.]

People don't usually see me unless I want them to. But you saw me before I noticed you.

How?

[Now that's an interesting ability, and not one Muffet has heard of before.]

I can't say that I know, I'm not familiar with any powers like that- you didn't seem different from any other human around here, to me. Would my being magical in nature be a factor, perhaps?
forgetmenow: (019)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-09 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not like... that.

[Like any other human.]

Maybe... [He has to think.] It's not usually different with mages. Most mages. I don't think magic usually makes a difference...

[Rhys could see. Always, from the start. But Rhys was special, in tune with spirits like few people ever were.]

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-09 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Are mages generally human, where you're from?

[It's a wild guess, but from the way he'd responded to her comparing him to normal humans...]
forgetmenow: (036)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-09 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Human. Or elves or qunari. Never dwarves.
prettypurpleparlor: I have within my pantry (Table ready)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-09 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard of the other three species in passing, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about qunari.

[Next question that she suspects she needs to ask:]

Would you be considered human, where you come from?
forgetmenow: (010)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-09 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
No one here does.

[The one foreign word. It's odd.]

By some. They don't know. They see me and think human, strange and wrong but human, mage maybe or worse, abomination.

Others see better. Demon or spirit. [An important distinction, but not as different as he'd like it to be. He sounds slightly uncomfortable about it.] I want it to be spirit.
prettypurpleparlor: Thinking only (And I've a many curious things)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-13 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Muffet looks thoughtful.]

Some powers seem to work differently, here- I've had more trouble using healing magic. Perhaps yours is affected similarly?

[She notes the discomfort in his voice and wonders at the terms- what does abomination mean, in the context of 'wrong but human'? Someone who'd broken some taboo, perhaps? It seemed... odd.]

And when you say 'spirit', what does that means to you, by definition?
forgetmenow: (052)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-13 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. It's not magic, but I guess it's not normal, either.

[Not for people, anyway. And people tend to be the standard.]

Not... a person. Less real. Those who live in the Fade, where people go to dream. People are complicated, but spirits are usually one thing. Justice, Faith, Valor. A feeling that suits them so much they become it.

...Demons aren't so different. [Solas told him as much.] But they hurt people.

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-13 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I... would ask how exactly you're defining person, but I think that's the sort of thing that philosophers have been trying to figure out since time out of mind. As it is, I admit we've only just met, but you seem like a person as far as I understand the concept.

[She thinks of her world's magic- gold for justice, orange for bravery... faith doesn't have a color, although perhaps one could make a case that her own perseverance purple covered it... So, some sort of incarnation of other virtues, the way monsters themselves were made of hope, love, and compassion? It sounded plausible, although even they were made up of multiple virtues not a singular one.]

Ah. So a distinction of choice, rather than of species?
forgetmenow: (022)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-14 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of things seem like other things. That's different than being it.

[Mind you, Cole's definition of "person" is a little off. A spirit's viewpoint tends to be very off in general.]

Not always a choice. Sometimes things happen whether you choose them or not. And sometimes it's forced.

...But sometimes it's a choice, yes.
prettypurpleparlor: Thinking only (And I've a many curious things)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-14 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
That is true, yes- but after a certain point of similarity, it becomes less 'a different thing that seems the same' and more 'an unusual kind of this thing'. What would you say keeps you from being a person, in your understanding? Is there something in particular you lack?

[Muffet nods thoughtfully.]

Either way, it is something one becomes rather than something one is born as, yes?
forgetmenow: (055)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-14 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Spirits can be lots of things. Lots look like things or trees. That doesn't mean they are those things.

People are real. I'm not. It's not that complicated.

[Again, that's uh... that's a very Fade way of looking at it.]

Yes. Though I'm not sure how a spirit is born. I think they just... are. Demons, too.
prettypurpleparlor: A subtle web (I'm sure you're very welcome)

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-14 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm referring less to appearance and more to actions, dearie. How exactly are you not real? I'm assuming I qualify as real, and I don't think I'm just imagining you standing there.

[Although the way things have been going lately, she wouldn't entirely rule it out...]

[She shakes her head slightly, realizing that indulging her curiosity like this might be rude.]

All philosophical questions aside, I don't want to neglect practical matters. Do you need help with anything? This place can be rather disorienting on arrival.
forgetmenow: (051)

[personal profile] forgetmenow 2017-10-18 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
You might be. How would you know? [Cole don't say things like that. But he will try to answer, though.] ...I'm just... not. It's hard to explain. I don't... belong, I'm too like the Fade.

[It's hard getting someone to understand if they don't know of the Fade and spirits and everything that goes with it.]

No. There are other people, they will need help, questions answered. But I'm fine.

[personal profile] prettypurpleparlor 2017-10-21 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What was that one human quote- I think, therefore I am?

[She shakes her head, letting it go for now.]

I'm rather curious about what this 'Fade' is, as well, but I'd rather not overburden you with questions when you've just arrived.

Do you know anyone in particular who needs help, since I'm offering?
