If you happen to be in the area of the second Islet, where a make-shift hut has become the home of two local pokemon trainers, you may find yourself smelling something amazing. Well, amazing if you enjoy fish. With their new wood-burning stove, Luna and Guzma's cooking game has upped itself tremendously. Rather, Guzma's cooking game has upped itself. Luna has gained a rank in firestarting and firekeeping. It's amazing, living together with a guy like Guzma-- mainly because Luna would never have thought it could happen. But here he is, standing around and cooking fish like he's been doing it for years...probably. Not that Luna knows. Guzma's a pretty outstanding mystery to her in the first place. Weird, kind of spooky. Pretty negative. But everyone knows him, so he's not shy. His pokemon adore him, so he can't be all bad.
It doesn't stop both her pups from being on high guard. Luna'd be lying if she said that there weren't times she was on guard herself-- but having someone who knows where you come from is something that she's decided to not take for granted. Someone with enough knowledge and history to ground her and remind her that home exists...
....somewhere.
Islet #2's hut is...pretty organized, but definitely split into two sides. With the addition of the wood burning stove, the two have tried to insulate their abode with a large tarp, though they still lack a proper roof. There are two strangely hung hammocks on opposite sides-- one of them has a very impressive looking tigershark-skin blanket draped across it invitingly. They seem to be hung by an insect's silken threads, and are very secured to what little they could be fastened to on the worn-down parts of the hut.
On a side of the hut, seashells hang of all types and sizes. They're pretty to look at. There's a small pile of them on the floor, along with a bag that says 'L U N A' in worn letters. There's fur on it-- perhaps someone sleeps here?
For now, this temporary home is fine.

Well, that's great! 'cause I wanted to go swimming, and you can't go swimming in Winter! 'cause it's too cold!
[ Ren's suggestion automatically makes Luna look at the ground. There's a beat up leaf with a few holes from being something's lunch in it, and Luna leans down to pick it up. ]
I think...this prob'ly wouldn't work. It's got holes in it...and if the tree was sick, would it make us sick if the food was on it?
[ real questions. ]

Ren's first priority is always safety and while her ultimate goal is 'keep luna out of the tree', now she's wondering about the biology of dying plants. Would it make Luna sick? Is that how disease works? It sounds plausible.
The swimming comment comes back to mind and while going into any body of water on this island is probably dangerous, standing by the shore isn't. The streams look safe enough. And washing things cleans them, right? She bends down to pick up a leaf too, peering through one of the holes.
Well, Ren's come up with a stupid idea. Someone supervise them.]
Swimming is scary too.
[Please don't, Luna. Even if her fear stems from her own inability to swim, tigersharks are a real concern. Baby tigersharks might be A Thing too. Maybe they live in streams?? Who knows.]
We can wash this kind of thing. Then it won't make you sick.

You don't like swimming...? [ it's a pretty strange thing to hear, but not the first time she's heard it. There were people who lived closer inland on the islands back home because they didn't like swimming...but Luna'd never understand why. She brightens up and brings her hands together. ]
Where I'm from, I have a pokemon who loves swimming! He's a biiig whale! [ she stretches her tiny arms out to give emphasis to the fact that Wailord is, indeed, a large whale. ] He loves to be pet and can shoot water out of a hole on his head!
[ her second idea sounds, well, very smart. Luna nods, looking toward the base of the trees at the leaves that have fallen.
The real question: how do you pick the best sick leaf? ]
no subject
She's seen them in books, never in person, so Luna's description is a blessing honestly. Even if she has no idea what pokemon means. Maybe it's like a nickname for the animal? Maybe.]
Is a whale soft? Does it purr?
[RE: Are they like ocean cats???]

[ TRYING TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS IN ORDER... ] But when he's really happy, he lets out a really loud, echo-ey noise! It's the coolest!
[ she's smiling, but it's obvious she misses her whale friend. ]

Do you have lots of whales like Wiles?
[She had a cat hoard. Maybe Luna had a whale one back home?]

[ she beams proudly, flexing her hands in an obvious show of her lack of strength. ] He's been with me since the start! We'll find him soon, though, I'm sure!
no subject
She knows and loves cats and the moment Luna mentions him, her eyes light up. If a cat likes her, has been with her since the start of everything, then-]
Kitten will find you. Cats can find good people.
[Luna doesn't need to worry.]
We should find a plate for him too.

The sense of acknowledgement that Ren gives makes Luna feel much happier. ]
Yeah! He'll need a really big one, because he's a big eater...do you have cats, too, Ren?
[ look at all the leaves that could be potential plates for Kitten. >:C invigorating! ]
no subject
Yes, cats are my friends.
[ALL CATS]
We stayed together for a long time.
[And then it occurs to her-she has a very particular set of skills. Skills she has acquired over a very long apocalypse. Skills that make her a nightmare for cats who are trying to hide.]
I'm good at finding them. I'll look for Kitten too.
