Who: Ren, Crow, Drifter, and Edward
What: Punks finding quicksand and more hot weather.
When: 9/18/17
Where: E8/E9
Warnings: will add as needed!
[Here they are-a group of explorers, braving the harsh elements and all the hazards an unexplored island can pose. And unfortunately, the focus of one of them happens to be on none of those things. Not a bit. In fact, she seems more than content with her surroundings. Good rocks, cool leaves-all the makings of a great time honestly. The potential dangers don't seem that scary when you're in a big group and she's taking advantage of that feeling. Fully. And for likely the tenth time, she veers off the not so beaten path and picks up another rock and holds it up to the sky. Awesome. What a good day.
It's then she turns to her companions and asks the single most important question anyone will ever ask-]
Are you finding good treasures?
[Because that's totally why they're here.]

Are you finding good treasures?
[Because that's totally why they're here.]

Well so far I found a rock that's kind of shaped like a bird? If you hold it a certain way and squint at it, I mean.
[Here treasure buddy, do you want to look.]

[They've been keeping an eye out for treasures of a sort - resources, mostly - but they've also been looking for items that might appeal to a child that wears a flower clip in her hair. Blossoms, smooth pebbles, colorful shells. The sorts of things that children might like.]
found one
[What they have found is, in fact, a little piece of sea glass - some fragment of a long-gone bottle or another, its dark green glass polished to a vaguely translucent smoothness.]
[No food, no water, no building materials. But a little bauble for a young girl is, in and of itself, one small victory, and they offer it out to her in kind.]

Nothing yet, really. [Ed turns to look back in time to catch sight of Drifter's comment and offer, and the frosted green--that's not a natural rock, but other than that he doesn't recognize it off-hand.] What's that?
no subject
[If we're going to play 'who's that rockmon' she obviously sees a more feline shape in that pebble, even with the squinting, but she's enamored by his discovery all the same. Until the Drifter shifts and Edward with them, bringing her attention to-
an actual treasure. A beautiful green glass that she's never seen before and her eyes light up at the sight of it. She has no plans on taking it out of their palm because it's theirs. They deserve to keep the awesome treasure they found and the only motion she makes towards it is to touch the smooth surface with her finger.
It's amazing.]
This is a good one. A pretty one!
[And to answer Ed's question-]
This is a treasure.

[But then his attention too, is quickly arrested by the glass that Drifter found.]
Whoa, where did you find that at?

[They point over at the completely innocuous and probably not dangerous patch of sand they've found...and made no effort to walk upon, because they've had no cause to.]
[They offer it out to her in earnest.]
can find more
orz sorry on the wait y'all
[He looks over then to the sandy patch, an ear flicking curiously. It seems out of place in the middle of the jungle like this, but it might be a dried up pool or something--maybe a deposit in an old riverbed? Turning back to Drifter, he nods.] I think we can afford to stop and look for a little while. We've been making good time so far.
no worries!!
It's hard to pass up their offer a second time. If they can get more and Edward is willing to take this momentary break with them, then she doesn't feel bad plucking this neat gift from their hand. She carefully pinches the seaglass between her index finger and thumb, holding it up to the sun.]
We can look together and get one for everyone.
[LET'S GO OVER TO THIS TOTALLY NOT SUSPICIOUS AND OUT OF PLACE PLOT OF SAND]
no subject
[Which, he will likely keep for himself to add to his
dragon hoardshiny trinket collection. But otherwise, Crow eagerly steps close to the sand to poke through it...... wow, the consistency of the sand kind of feels kind of like mud? Or something similar...]
no subject
[It is not until they set foot on the sand proper that they question its consistency, and it is not until they begin to have difficulty lifting both feet that it strikes them that things are not as they should be.]
[They have no time to formulate words. The most they manage is a lengthy string flashing across their HUD:]
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the--oh fuck goddamnit shit! Out, everybody back out!
[He immediately starts fighting his way back to solid land, which is a bit easier thanks to his strength. Unfortunately he's also much heavier, and so sinks even faster than the rest of the group.]

Yeah, her legs sure are partway covered in sand right now. Whelp.
Hello panic, my old friend.
No yell or cry comes out of her, just an anxious silence as she concentrates to get free. The only indication she's scared is the quick, jerky motions she makes in a pathetic attempt to free herself and you know, the look of terror on her face. It takes her a second, but she manages to stand back up, which forces her feet further into the sand.
WELL THIS. THIS IS BAD.]
