OTA!
Who: Nyx and you!
What: Various prompt for Nyx during the month. From checking in on the chocobros, to patroling Islet 31 to trying to (and failing) to get some coconuts.
When: Throughout the month
Where: Various Places
Warnings: None really, but probably discussions of trauma and injuries with the chocobros.
A: Closed to Chocobros - Backdated to the start of the monthbecause I"m the worst
So. A certain Chancelor sure has arrived on the islands. That's sure a thing that's happened. It should come as no surprise then that the moment he's done with his conversation with Ardyn he's all but running, warping at times, in search of three familiar faces.
He'd never spoken to Ardyn prior to today. There'd never been a reason - partly because Ardyn was the Chancellor of Nifleheim and Nyx was just a soldier. Even if they had bumped into each other at the party the night prior to the Treaty signing, the trap, Nyx wouldn't have said much outside a brief hello. Their first conversation had actually been rather civil, for the most part, despite everything that had happened. Despite the fact, Nyx had spent it barely managing to ignore the anger seeping through his veins.
Anger that he was still ignoring, the need to find Ignis, Prompto and Noctis taking priority. They would be more affected by Ardyn's arrival then him. It takes him longer than he would have liked to find one of the three, but when he does he all but skids to a stop, taking a few hasty steps towards them. For Ignis he makes sure his steps are loud and clear.
"Are you alright?"
Okay. That's not alarming at all Nyx.
B: Patroling - Islet #1
Nyx couldn't sleep. That wasn't an uncommon fact these days. In fact, since arriving on Ensō he's not sure he's slept the night through once.
Tonight was no different and instead of trying to sleep in his little shack - one he really needed to work on fixing up a bit more than he has - Nyx slips out the door with one of his daggers in hand. He was restless and he knows there are quite a few reasons that have lead to his restlessness, all of which won't be solved anytime soon. A fact that was frustrating, but one he, unfortunately, had to accept.
He stood in the night, stretching his arms above his head as he looks up at the sky and stars.
Well, he might as well do something useful. With that thought in mind, he gives his weapon a little flip before setting off. He'd do a quick sweep or two of the islet, just to make sure everything was alright.
C: How to coconut? - The Beach
It was still early in the morning when anyone passing by the beach might find Nyx standing stubbornly under a palm tree, glaring up at the coconuts at the top. He'd set out that morning with the intention of collecting some to use for meals and such. However he had quickly realized that actually picking them wasn't as easy as he initially thought.
Which was really annoying because he'd gotten coconuts down before. Of course his previous tactic had been warping up and grabbing one but everytime he'd even considered using magic his arm had given an unconcious throb of pain. Opting to do things the old fashion way he'd tried just... Climbing the tree.
Given that he's now covered in sand and dirt from falling it's easy to tell that didn't go as planned.
Help the poor guy out?
D: Wildcard!

consider the coconut
The end result was that this was rather pathetic to watch, and even Ardyn could be convinced to take the most basic sense of pity on someone occasionally. It'd be annoying if Ulric fell and broke his neck, after all that. Noctis would probably find some way to blame Ardyn for it, the entire deal would be off, and that would just be one long headache.
A dagger flew with pinpoint accuracy to knock a coconut out of the tree, its source standing off to the right and offering a slight wave.
"You looked as though you were having a bit of trouble."
consider its treeeeee
Though maybe if he thought that Ardyn would be one of the witnesses to his failure he'd gone screw it and used magic.
The dagger hits the tree and Nyx doesn't even wait to watch the coconut fall. His attention immediately moves to the man standing off to the side, eyes narrowing.
"I had it under control... For the most part."
Okay, he didn't but it's not like he was going to admit that to Ardyn of all people. Even if it was obvious.

"Still, a brief moment of charity is not something so far beyond me."
no subject
He didn't trust Ardyn as far as he could throw him.

no subject
Ardyn kind of had him there.
"I wasn't going to break my neck. They taught Glaives how to fall, you know."
no subject
...that was not a very nice pun, but Ardyn was not a very nice person.
"Regardless, I'm thrilled to know you will not be vanquished by an enemy as formidable as a palm tree."

Though everyone else seemed to have more powers left than he did, Prompto was determined to make himself useful somehow. Without his gun to use - save for emergencies due to the limited ammo - it was just him trying to get by with what supplies they had.
So today he was out, borrowing the hatchet, hunting some snaplings for food. Maybe he wasn't the melee fighter, but he could manage. He was taking a step forward, ready to lunge out from hiding to launch a surprise attack on dinner, when he suddenly heard Nyx behind him.
Stopping where he was, he stood and turned around to face him, the critter skittering away. Oh well. There was always more to be found.
"Come on, I'm not that bad..." he replied with an undercurrent of laughter. On one hand, seriously Nyx? Thinking a snapling will take him out? On the other hand he really was kind of self-conscious about his skills compared to everyone else.
no subject
He shook his head, sighing a little. Well, at least Prompto seemed okay at least for now. "I'm guessing you haven't run into any of the new arrivals."
no subject
Quick to form a positive judgment much? Still, he realized from Nyx' statement that she probably wasn't what he was worried about. Furrowing his brows, he loosely placed a hand on his hip. "Why? Did something happen?"
C
Hello, there. Would you like some help with getting those down?
no subject
Not that he doesn't give her a wary look.]
Uh... Yeah, if you wouldn't mind.
no subject
Oh, it's no trouble.
[She pulls a line of gleaming purple light, seemingly out of nowhere, and eyes the tree thoughtfully before tossing the line upward, where it sticks to a pair of coconuts. One sharp tug sends them both dropping down to the sand.]
no subject
That's a handy bit of magic to have.
no subject
It's always worked rather well for me, although it's certainly been put to new and interesting uses here. Would you like me to pull down a few more, since I'm already at it?

"You look like you just seen a ghost."
Re: A
"If you call seeing Chancellor Izunia seeing a ghost, then yeah I guess I have seen one."
Re: A
He was going to have to talk about the deal that he made with the chancellor. "You alright?"
C
The mouse casually and curiously pipes up. He has a good guess what's going on, but he's not one to mock. So yes, the question is said with the utmost sincerity.
Re: C
Nyx can't help but actually just lay where he'd last slipped and fallen from the tree, staring up at Mickey with wide eyes. Sure he's met a talking skeleton, a spider girl, pokemon but... There was just something about Mickey Mouse that's catching him completely off-guard.

Without vision, though, scaling anything is out of the question. The last thing he wants to do is give anyone a heart attack. Fortunately, the rundown cottage they claimed for their own isn't far from what has been described to him as a cove. It's not up where the wind can carry his worries away, but waves can carry things away just as well.
Even more fortunate--this time for Nyx--the area is in a direct line of sight from the little shack the Glaive claimed as his own. Once he makes his way to the islet, finding Ignis won't be all that hard. Of course, it's not likely that Nyx will much like what he finds.
Ignis looks tired, distant, and very small. He sits, not like a man relaxing to the sound of the waves, but one trying to hide behind the knees drawn to his chest without making it obvious that's what he's doing.
Even alone, it seems Ignis can't let down all his defenses. He feels lost enough as it is without adding feeling totally exposed to it.
When Nyx approaches and speaks, Ignis forces a smile to his face, but doesn't turn to face his former mentor. Instead, he continues to focus intently on the waves he cannot see.
"Oh, I'm just peachy. Don't concern yourself with me. Is something the matter?"
He can't really take something else going wrong on top of his blindness, the Six-damned Chancellor being there, and oh, has he mentioned the boy he's raised since childhood is going to have to die to save the world, but that doesn't mean he's not going to ask anyway. Ignis might be held together by sheer shattered will at the moment, but that doesn't mean he won't keep going until every last shard drops to the floor.
He knows no other way.
no subject
Of course the Chancellor would have already bumped into Ignis. Fate wasn't kind.
With a sigh Nyx walks over to Ignis' side, taking a seat beside him and stretching one leg out in front of him and pulling the other to his chest.
"You sure seem like the definition of peachy." There's a dryness in his tone as he gives Ignis a Look that hopefully, he can at least feel. "Talk to me. I have a feeling we share at least one problem if it comes in the shape of the Nif's Chancellor."
no subject
And yes, he can totally feel that look. It's part of the reason his arms tightly just slightly around his legs before he finally speaks, "He's certainly a problem. I dearly wish he were the only one, but it seems fate is not that kind."
Did Nyx know of the fate that Noctis was expected to just accept? Did anyone in the Glaive? Probably not considering the fact that they were suppose to focus on protecting the king. If those who were suppose to raise and protect Noctis didn't know, why would they?
Oh, how he wants to talk about it. To rage about it; to cry about it, but he promised Noctis he wouldn't say anything to anyone. For now, he will just have to deal with focusing on Ardyn.
Wonderful. What a perfect way to spend the day. It isn't as if his nightmares aren't already haunted by the man.
"How did he act when he spoke to you?"
C
[Jack had been watching in fascination as the man skewered one of the overhanging coconuts]
I have one if you'd like to borrow it.
no subject
[Not that the idea hadn't crossed his mind.]
c, i'm laughing at all these kind people and then
"Maybe the millionth try is the charm. I believe in you, buddy."
I'm dying
He snorts as he brushes sand off his pants, looking back at Finley. "Pretty sure I'm at the billionth try, not sure where that ranks on the lucky scale."
At least he's come to terms with his failure?
no subject
"Not very high, honestly. I can show you how it's done, if you'd like."
no subject
"Please, it'll keep me from giving my bruises bruises.
no subject
"You got it, man. Though you totally owe me." That's all the shark-boy says though before gives a little stretch. And a one, and a two, and- He uses his power of pure machismo to jump up and start shimmying up the tree. For as much of an asshole as Finley can be, his boasts certainly aren't unfounded.
