JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

Who: Everyone!
What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs. Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

[That causes a quirk of her eyebrow, a turn of the head. She isn't sure she was expecting him to... just tell her? But now it's happening, so she just moves forward.]

Wow. Yeah, you're right, that's difficult.

[Probably simplifying it, but... she does that. Easier in delicate situations like this.]

Guess you didn't really live those years, though. Just slept through 'em. Unless being 97 is like, really important to you.

[Maybe he shouldn't unload on her, but it's done. He likes Beau, though. It's not like he thinks she's going to bolt; she's clearly seen some shit of her own.]

Slept through them is a fair way to put it.

I guess it is important to me, in a way. Because the world looks a lot different than it did seventy years ago.

[Honestly, this doesn't even begin to cover unloading, in her experience. The last time she knew someone two months she locked them in their bedroom until they revealed their trauma that ended up being parricide. This is bad, sure, but not personal. Just another set of secrets carefully enveloped into the rest of her, quietly taken into account.]

Makes sense. It sucked, but it happened, and you're different now. Can't just say it didn't.

[It took her a long time to get to that point though, so maybe you can. Or at least she could try.]

Might as well own it. Take back everything they took from you and keep it for yourself. There's some philosophy stuff in that, for sure.

Yeah. That's the gist of it.

[He nods. Thankfully, he chooses not to talk too much about his past, because that's still very much a big issue for him, and it's a lot to unload on anybody.]

I've been doing what I can.

[He shifts a little awkwardly, watching for any birds that might still try and divebomb even with people around. He remembers the seagulls at Coney Island.]

When this place isn't going nuts, the islets manage to be fairly nice.

[Now that's a mood she knows. Seagulls on the ocean made her want to die professionally, so they can come pvp her.]

You seem to have everything pretty put together with all that. Guess it helps that you're in another world. Even if people can show up at any time.

[She's just saying things he obviously knows, so she drops it.]

It'd be a good place if we picked it ourselves, y'know?

[She gets another nod.]

So far, I haven't run into anyone I'm really concerned about. Small miracles.

Why do you think people are brought here?

[Well damn, that's the question. She puzzles it over, chewing on the thought like a tough piece of meat.]

Y'know, I'd like to think it's some big purposeful reason or something? But it's probably just coincidence. Some kind of random chance where we lost the deal.

[Beau pauses a moment, again in thought.]

Dunno if that's better or worse.

Random chance, huh?

[He frowns, thoughtful.]

Better than a whim, or malice, right?

[lesbeau]

Dunno. Just said that.

[Is it better? Whose whims make that choice? Could she at least control who she pissed off?

It's inconsequential anyway.]

Guess it doesn't matter, since none of it is gonna get us out.

Yeah, probably.

[He shrugs.]

Still, at least it's better than where I've been. It feels like something.

[That does give her a hint of a smile, a little crinkle around her eyes. It's hard to remember sometimes that progression isn't an on-off switch; you aren't just bad and then suddenly good. Sometimes it's just better. Still bad, maybe, but... better.

Her shoulders shake in an empty sigh, almost a laugh, mostly nothing.]

Guess so. Can't tell you that it isn't a change. Just keep hoping it's a decent one for the hand you've got.

[Beau straightens her back again, legs folded, feeling more like she's actually meditating than before.]

You wanna hang for a bit? Stand guard over some turtle kids like a pretend mom for a few? As much parenting as I want, anyway.

[He offers her a smile.

He likes Beau. She's good people.]

Sure. We can talk about the best ways to protect these little guys.

[It's said lightly, and the corners of his lips upturn.]

[Despite her attempt not to enjoy the presence of other people, Bucky's nice. He gets a lot of things, has had a lot of things worse, but she's gotten good at relating to those kinds of people. It's good.]
