JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs.

Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

Uh........heheheheheheh....[Okay. Whoever this girl is, she sounds pretty scary. And Beau’s description isn’t helping.] I think I might pass on that. Both the flirting and your entertainment.

[Beau very rarely smiles, and this... only sort of qualifies. It's more of a snicker than anything else, a sly sort of thing as she visualizes him getting spectacularly dunked on.]

I mean, I could go for it if you wanna take the leap. Otherwise she's pretty nice. But yeah, she could kill you without breaking a sweat.

[Yasha probably wouldn't do that. She's really gentle, and... maybe it's a bit of a disservice to paint her as some savage.]

If you wanna get on her good side, bring her flowers. She likes those.

[Since Zidane has never met Yasha and only has Beau's words to go by, he's got no reason not to believe her. So compliments about how pretty Yasha is are probably not a good idea.]

Eh.....not worth the trouble. But hey, if she's really nice and likes flowers.... [Girl + flowers = new friend! And Zidane is always willing to make new friends.]

But you said she's from your world, right? Have you known each other long?

[It's probably best, or at least Beau figures as much. That's her girl, Zidane. Don't muscle in on her flirt territory.]

Uhhh, I mean, not a lot when I first got here. Maybe a month. But we've both been here... almost a year now, I think, in between some other stuff. So pretty long now.

[She doesn't actually know when she arrived exactly, but she knows it's more than six months. Yasha was one of the first to arrive too, so... a while. Longer than she's really ever spent with anyone, frankly.]

Kinda weird to have been in one place this long. Even know somebody that long at all.

Hmmm.....well, it might be a little strange, but I'd say it gives you both some sort of connection. An understanding that's gonna be unique to both of you, even if you don't know each other that well. I dunno, I could be wrong. I'm just guessing.

[It probably sucks for her to be away from home for so long, especially on this island. Hopefully knowing someone from home makes it a little less bad. Maybe.]

[Ironically, it doesn't matter a lot to her that she isn't back in Exandria. Places are places- there was danger there too, and home has never been a house or a town or a person, or at least never for very long. Here is fine in that respect. It's the people she misses- the people she's come to think of as friends, maybe even family. Is Yasha a part of that? Does she even want to be?

I guess. Makes it easier to identify stuff, even if some of it doesn't exist or isn't uh, familiar.

[Her eyes drift out to the ocean again, as if seeking something before she stops focusing.]

Guess it's just weird to have a base like this. Live in one place, even if the islands come and go, there's... always going back to something. Dunno if I like it.

[Going back to something. Live in one place. She might not mean what Zidane thought of when she said that but....] Does it..........feel like home? A place to belong?

[She's quiet at that; when Beau speaks again, it comes out the same flat sort of tone she always tends to use, but somehow it seems to carry more weight.]

Might be. Never had anything like that. Wouldn't know it if I had it.

[But somehow, she feels like she knows the answer. The Nein, their mission back in Exandria and here-- they stick by her. They have use for her talents, and her words. They've saved her so much and she's saved them. It's not perfect, it never will be, but she's coming to realize she likes this better than it being perfect.]

'Ss a reason I'm not really scraping to get out of here.

[So Beau does not know where her home is. It's a feeling that's very familiar to Zidane. And while Beau isn't necessarily an orphan who didn't know where she was from like in his case - she could have parents and family for all he knows - one's birthplace isn't necessarily one's home. It certainly was not in his case, as he found out.

There's a gentle and thoughtful smile on his face as he stares at the ocean and quietly says:] You'll find out one day. Whatever your home is. Maybe you won't realize it at first once you find it. That's okay, though....not everyone does. Sometimes it takes time. [After all, he didn't discover where his was until the end of his journey to save Gaia.]

[Honestly, she'd prefer to be an orphan. She may have blood, but they aren't family. She's still learning what that word even feels like now. But Beau just exhales a 'heh', a bump of her eyebrows the only physical response.]

You sound confident. Guess I'll find out or not.

[But that's as much as she'll give off the cuff.]
