JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

Who: Everyone!
What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs. Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

Well, if I got stuck, I'd just stab this body until I could get out of it and try again. I've been wanting to try that for a while anyway, but Hector wouldn't let me before.

[He says it very casually. As far as he's concerned, after all, damaging his physical form wouldn't really do him any permanent injury.]

My arm doesn't work the way it should, and if that's the case, I don't see how that wouldn't go poorly for you.

I think so! We build these things tough, but they're not indestructible.

[He holds out his arms and kinda looks himself over like he's mentally slapping the hood of a car. This baby can fit so much insubstantial evil in it.]

Besides, seems like anyone can just regenerate their body here. [...] Hope they wouldn't shove me in a squishier one...

Oh, it is, sure. That's part of why we have physical bodies, you know. To learn how pain works.

[It's a poor torturer who's never even felt pain before.]

But other people have done it, right, and come back again?

[He frowns, at that. Looking like he's trying to figure out how to word it.]

Doesn't that imply they have to die?

I...meant the fish thing, with the necklace.

[He gestures vaguely at it.]

Although I have heard about the other one happening, too.

Look, you were talking about pain and then his mind jumped to the worst possible conclusion. He shakes his head by way of apology.]

...Well. The second one, I'd like to avoid.

But having fins to swim underwater might not to be so bad.

I've never gone swimming in this body. Never really came up...

[He holds his arms out, looking them over like he's a little unsure of how they're even supposed to work in the water.]

Why do any of you do it in the first place? Water kills you so many ways.

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but people tend to like doing things that can kill them.

Yeah, I don't get that! You've barely got a century as it is. Why make it worse?

There are a lot of people who just like the thrill.

[Like Bucky did, when he was younger and stupider.]

[Michael considers this.]

Risky things can be fun, but most of them can't really kill me. That doesn't sound fun at all.

[He raises his eyebrows.]

Why's that?

I like being alive.

[?????? why is this so hard shouldn't you have the stronger survival instinct]

You just said that "most of them can't really kill me," that implies you're even stronger than a super soldier.

Makes a guy interested.

Oh. Well, I don't know about that. But we build our bodies very well - mine's a few thousand years old, but it's still very durable. They have to be, if we're going to walk around doing what we do.

[There's lava and stuff involved. Sometimes they'll get in fights with each other too, and no one wants to make an entire replacement body over a simple office party.]

Technically, demons can't even die at all. Most that ever happens is you get broken down to the atomic level, scattered across a billion suns. [you know, like you do]

[He absolutely does not see, but he at least looks like he's taking Michael seriously.]

Why the hell would anyone do that? It seems more than a little extreme.

Usually it's for people who failed pretty spectacularly at their job. Also - [He presses a hand to his chest] - traitors.
