JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

Who: Everyone!
What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs. Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

"More than just the Jormun models...yeah, I'm...I'm starting to get that impression. I've seen some weird things in the sand already." He pauses, and then adds, sounding a little strangled, "I watched a rock drag itself around."

Which is absolutely the height of madness. Or, you know, a perfectly ordinary starfish that was innocently going about its day. But more likely it's madness. Please help him.

Legion chatters briefly as they process this, though they don't seem particularly surprised or bothered.

"It is common for aquatic lifeforms to produce hard shells or disguise themselves as rocks."

"Is it?" he asks, with the vaguely overwhelmed air of one who is beginning to think that he will never trust a rock again. Up is down, black is white, people he assumed at first glance were robots turned out to be organic life and now this!

"Man's mercy," Horatio mutters under his nonexistent breath. "If someone needed camouflage in the Dunes, you just threw yourself into some junk and pretended to be dead."

"This did not result in attempts to scavenge your corpse?"

Because guess what happens to dead organics?

"Not usually. There are a lot of old dead robots out there with the scrap, and being overlooked for just a moment tends to be enough for me to get away." He is entirely unfazed by what amounts to concealing himself among corpses. They're everywhere, that's just a fact of life. Like clouds, or sand.

"Organic dead don't stay piled up like that though...I guess I still hadn't really thought about it."

"Dead organics are eaten, or broken down into their component materials and recycled via a process known as decomposition."

They chatter.

"Though faking death may deter some predators, others may attempt to consume the body."

[sonsofhorus]

He would have grimaced, if he could have; though he cannot, it's there in his voice. "Recycling is something I understand, but I'm not sure I can imagine how bad it would get if we used each other as fuel too."

Though really he probably can, but would rather not spend the day inventing horrors in his head.

"But it makes more sense about it all disappearing so easily. They just...turn to dust, right? Like old paper."

(They chatter.)

Yes. Typically, only support structures will remain.

[sonsofhorus]

"Support structures, huh?" It comes out a murmur.

Well, he supposes they surely could not simply be a bag of - whatever's inside an organic creature's skin, he's still not really sure. The exterior looks too flimsy.

"Makes sense, too. Some of them do move like they have joints. But then what happens to the...structures?"

(They chatter briefly.)

Depending on environmental conditions, these structures may also decompose over a period of decades to centuries, or transform into rock through a process known as remineralization.
