JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

Who: Everyone!
What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs. Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

What, the tails or the fish magic itself? Though I guess it doesn't super matter, since, either way: Weird as hell, cool as shit. [Just, in summary.] You tested it out much yet?

[ Molly shimmies a bit, fins floating around like a mimic of his ostentatious coat. ]

I haven't done more than swim around a bit. I'm not sure I trust it enough to go deeper.

[ As in all island events, he's waiting for the other shoe to drop. ]

The swimming does take some getting used to. I had a tail, though, so it might be a little easier for me.

[ It's... kind of true? The swish of his tail was almost the same as a movement of his fins, but it was heavier and more things to concentrate on. ]

The drowning, though? I'm definitely waiting for that. It would be just like this place to fuck us over like that.

Does having a non-swimming tail help with using a swimming tail? [Which might not be the most elegant way of putting it, but "swimming tail" seems to her to sum it up well enough.]

[ Cameras are not exactly in his wheelhouse, after all. The stones were kind of easier to handle, seeing there were spells that did the same. ]

[ He grins back at her, all fangs and mischief. ]

[ ...yeah he want there. Shooting off like a rainbow missile. ]

[Yeah, she should've seen that coming.

Erika snorts and, fortunately for her dignity, has the reflexes to take off right behind him in a swirl of fins.] Don't think you can win fairly, huh?

I know my limits!

[ He hollers back, testing out how the fins work and enjoying the way he's smoothly pushes forward through the water. It was oddly freeing - well, as long as he doesn't look down and see the open water under them. ]

Ha, props for that, anyway!

[Well, time to finish figuring this thing out real fast. It's different moving at this speed, water rushing over her fins. It's not quite as noticeable as she might expect. Maybe she expected it to be... splashier, but it figures that that makes no goddamn sense since she's. You know. Fully submerged.

Damn she's gotta stop thinking about this. Probably starting to sound like her nerd-ass cousin, but in her own head.

She puts on a burst of speed in an effort to pass Molly with an excited whoop.]

[ It's a little bit like making a weird floaty dance, in Molly's opinion. A little like the Knot sisters up on the tightrope or in the trapeze, just... moving through the flow. Some of it has to be instinct, or having a tail really did help.

If anything, they really are two pretty, pretty fishpeople darting through the deep blue.

When Erika passes him, Molly makes a whoop back, reaching to try to grab a fin. ]

Hey, watch it! [She laughs and slaps at his hand, twisting around briefly to speak.] I dunno yet how sturdy these things are!

[Okay, yes, she doubts they'd actually be damaged by a brief grab from someone moving at a similar speed to hers, but listen!!]

[ There's a wink from Molly as he struggles to catch up with her, keeping pace as much as he can with all these new flappy things. ]

[She slows down a bit as she talks - not much, but, evidently, she's not taking this race quite as seriously as she might.] Aren't fins supposed to be all delicate and shit?

Probably not as much for other fish? I mean, if giant hands came and lifted me out of the water, I'm sure I'd tear a fin or two.

[ That was not a suggestion, islands! Please do not read into his fears! ]

Otherwise I think it's sturdy enough for us to not break. I mean, unless you normally break your appendages.

[ He's running a bit out of breath (well, not technically) from the chase, but also not giving up. ]

Okay, y'know what, that is entirely fair. And hopefully won't get tested. [Yeeahh she had the same thought. She doesn't fuckin' trust this place!!]

[ This place is a fucking nightmare but at least they get to be fish for a while??

Molly is definitely losing speed now, his nimble swiftness not enough to keep him going. he struggles a little bit longer, but then he has to give up and stop to 'breathe'. ]

[She slows to a stop, drifting ahead a bit in the water as she tries to use her tail to slow down. Man, controlling her pace with this thing is rough.]

--Ha, you alright, man? [She doesn't sound even vaguely concerned. Mostly she's just, really smug. Awful.]

[ He huffs out a bunch of bubbles in what is both a laugh and a deep exhale. Apparently he still had some air in there. ]

Yeah, yeah. I'm good.

[ Grinning, he dramatically flares out his many fins. ]

Real good.

[ Nothing like a bit of preening. ]

Hell yeah, man. [Being a beautiful fish person is its own win, in a way.

She does, however, have to kind of wonder about how they've both ended up.] How d'you think these things, like... pick how we end up looking? Like, is there a pattern to it or is it just random chance or what?
