JULY EVENT: RIDING THE WAVE

Who: Everyone!
What: The Jormun reappear to allow some transformative fun...and potentially some underwater exploration as well
When: July 10th and onward
Where: Ensō and the ocean floor around it
Warnings: Potential (and fully optional) body/transformation horror may arise when undergoing shifts from land-based to sea-based shapes, and vice versa. Otherwise, tag as you go!

I'll See You on the Other Side
The Jormun resurfaced to greet their old allies on July 8th, bringing with them the offer to explore the ocean floor alongside them. They're not the only old friend that's made a return, however. The kaleidoshells, placid, rainbow-tinted creatures reminiscent of sea turtles, have also made their way to Ensō's shores for their nesting season. For much of the month of July, you'll have to tread carefully around mounds of sand hiding delicate heaps of kaleidoshell eggs. Those of you uninterested in sea exploration can remain on the surface, if you like - the kaleidoshells can make for a stunning sight if you're glimpsing them for the first time as their shells throw off vibrant rainbow swirls of light reflected into the ocean waters.

Predators are always keen to feast on easy prey, and kaleidoshell eggs are no exception. If you feel like protecting them from any hungry slypers or pterax, you'll find that some of the Jormun are happy to stick on the surface with you and assist. They'll even lend you a schlacknorkcvic, which is the Jormun equivalent of a simple driftwood training staff, to help keep any thieving creatures away from the nests of kaleidoshell eggs - though they recommend that you do so peacefully, if possible.

Get Carried Away
Or you can brave the sea waters with the Jormun, instead. With the help of the sne'akleriad pendant, your new, aquatic shape will allow you to navigate the waters just as easily as they. Whether you intend to make use of this new skill to go roaming about and explore some of Ensō's uncharted ocean squares, take a look at that underwater structure that's been sighted before, or just have a joyous time beneath the waves with your new scaly, tentacled, flippered, or be-gilled form, the choice is yours.

Oh, quite the opposite in some cases. But I can't cast Fire underwater, and were I to cast Thunder or Blizzard you would very likely die. I can't say how far of a range either would have in such conditions.

You only control the elements? You don't have like...any spells that just...are a force? Expelliarmus or whatever.

No, basic black magic is centered around the three elements. And regrettably, ever since I've been here my own bloodline's magic has been largely unavailable to me outside the occasional incident or special occasion. Otherwise I could just throw spectral blades at all my problems.

And there are more than three elements, dude.

Technically, 'light' is classified as an element of magic.

And yes, I know how chemistry works, just because I'm two thousand doesn't mean I fail to understand things like that. It's merely different for magic; you can't just throw a dart at the periodic table and cast 'arsenic'.

But like, where's air and earth I mean? As far as classic magical witchy elements go. You got fire and there's electricity which I...guess counts yeah, and you've got water covered with ice...

The rest are usually the dominion of the gods; there's Ramuh, Shiva, and Ifrit for the three elements I mentioned, and then dominion over earth is Titan's role.

...I don't quite think we have anything for wind. There's likely a Messenger for that one.

So if gods preside over the elements, and you have magic that's based on the elements, does that make you like...blessed, or is the power just like on loan?

The royal blood of Lucis Caelum are the only ones who can use such magic naturally. Everyone else has the power on loan of sorts, tied to the king they serve.

But you don't have the magic of some of them, soooo those ones don't like you, I take it. Titan or whatever.

--also getting in won't be a problem if there are windows, so if nothing else, we can bust some glass if it's not already busted. Inside hopefully is all good.

Way simpler not having gods that reveal themselves and hand out magic like royalty candy in my opinion. [Just wait 'til the current seasons, Church--oh wait.]

Do you guys have any sunken cities of old?

Hm...not likely. The oldest ruins I know of were from Solheim, and water was an ill omen of sorts. Record says the civilization was one in worship to the god of fire, so water was a symbol of death to them.
