I'm not an idiot, nor a hopeful fool. I've been doing this for a thousand years. The universe does not keep itself in check, but it has rules for it to be sustained. Do you know how easy it is to break the world? It's fragile. The balance of life and death is incredibly delicate, and that is why the universe employs servants to make sure it stays stable.

[He doesn't know if he's ever explained this to someone, but well, circumstances. It's never been relevant.]

Keeping the world running is no small task, and that's why when I hear things like this, where someone obviously gave little care to letting some horror wander about amassing power! It's not right. It's work, work to specifically stop what has apparently happened to you from occurring. Of course it isn't easy! But this is why it's vital.
