June Event: Chaos, Chaos!

JUNE EVENT: CHAOS, CHAOS!
Who: Anyone and everyone!
What: It's just a little chaos...
When: June 17th - June 22nd
Where: Primarily Io, though also across Ensō and the islets if applicable
Warnings: Violence, possible body horror, potential anxiety and dysmorphia associated with body-swapping
Who Keeps Spinning the World Around?

The morning of June 17th, you'll probably notice things are amiss rather quickly. Your hands aren't your hands, or you're no longer in a squishy human flesh shape, or worse. Maybe your Lawful Good persona has plummeted into an outright Chaotic Evil one. Or maybe you wake up with a brand new power in your hands! Whatever the case is, no explanation is going to be immediately forthcoming, from Eleu or the Storyteller or anyone else. You'll have to figure out this mess on your own.
Adjust to your new circumstances, master your new powers, and do what you can to make it through the next few days...because they're going to be some very interesting ones, for certain.
Catch Me If You Can!

Come June 20th, whether you're back to normal selves or not, Eleu has a job for you. A request, even. They're going to need your help to take care of this little problem and put a stop to all this absolute madness.

Those interested in helping can get in touch with any of the honeybees buzzing anxiously about Io, and they will redirect you to the Honeycomb, which has now been provided with several barrels of Honeycomb Sledgehammers for your use. You don't have to take one if you don't need it, but they make a very powerful weapon. Additionally, Eleu will take care to assure that, in exchange for your help, you may keep the Sledgehammer, if you so choose.
Those interested in assisting may access our boss fight at its top-level below. This is a single thread with no order, but anyone may participate, regardless of their current state of being. Don't worry about how you contribute, or tag speed. Anyone who's concerned about being left out is welcome to reach out to us to handwave or backtag their involvement, if necessary!

The Clown Box is going to put up a fight, though. And it's not going to be pretty.
Event Timeline
[ ♆ ] June 17th: Chaos begins!
[ ♆ ] June 21st: On the eve of the final battle, Storytelling commences.
[ ♆ ] June 22nd: Characters confront the Clown Box, and all parties return to normal.
[ ♆ ] June 25th: All parties become privy to the final outcome involving the Clown Box.

Usually the visor lets you know how your suit's running.

[But... that might not work. It's not like she had pressed, and Epsilon had only been an AI. He had traveled in their slots, projecting an image of himself for others to see.]

I'd suggest going to the mana pool once a day and not going anything too crazy.

[There's a hint of an edge to her, the hairs on the back of her neck tingling, although it's not like he's growling and ripping her AI out of her port. Yet there is that distinct change as well. Her eye brows furrow a little, trying to ponder it over.

Someone had... taken it? Although that seems unlikely, unless it was someone with a lot of power, perhaps less of the physical kind and more of the magical kind. It's not like Maine to lose it either. He'd never been careless with things like that, keeping his weapons in as pristine condition as they all did. Perhaps it had become damaged.

This time she does settle for a question that is more easily answered.]

It's not there?
suspecteverything: (oh yeah?)

[personal profile] suspecteverything 2019-07-13 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Because nobody's actually trying to?"

Jules hated it when one of his friends read his mind and got things out of him he wouldn't openly speak of. The fact that he unintentionally did that to other people didn't make him feel any better.
triggerhappytraitor: (Not going to answer that question)

Tachibana was silent a moment, hesitating.

"...there was one person, who did. Back home, the only one in my world who had this sort of power," he explained, voice soft and very tired sounding. "He forced his way in, saw everything. And always used his damned telepathy to give me orders once he--"

He pressed his lips together, looking to the side.

"Shit like this... always reminds me of that asshole. Made it so damned hard to deal with... benign forms of it."

[personal profile] suspecteverything 2019-07-13 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Jules winced.

"Ah, yeah. I could see why you couldn't stand it then. Personally, if I were you, I'd be doing my damnedest to kill me."

It seemed like mental powers caused pain and disaster wherever they were. In Jules' world the pain hadn't be caused by those with Trisani abilities but had been given to the Trisani. Because of their abilities nearly the entire Trisani race had been wiped out. Jules only knew of three who had survived, though there might be a few more. The three he did know of had done a damn good job of hiding themselves. It was the only reason they'd survived.

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2019-07-13 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
"The hell good would killing someone do?" Tachibana asked. "Especially when they're not acting like that asshole."

He hesitated a moment, pressing his lips together. "... He would have caused pain and disaster without those powers. Plenty of other Undead did, after all. He was just the sort of asshole who thought nothing of killing people who got in his way, and using others like pawns. Hell, a regular person can do that shit," he scowled. Tennouji hadn't had any power of his own and had been the reason for everything, back home -- the restarting of the Battle Fight and the near destruction of the entire world.
suspecteverything: (upset)

[personal profile] suspecteverything 2019-07-13 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Call it past scars and trauma I guess. I've been hit enough times to start hitting first to make sure I'm not a target again. You can probably blame that on the fact that I knew someone that fits your description, but she didn't have any special mental powers. She's also my grandmother, so, you know, lasting physical and mental damage and all that shit."

While his soul searching shortly after being disinherited had taught him that not everyone was an asshole, his first instinct still tended to be attack first given the first indication of hostilities.
triggerhappytraitor: (Not going to answer that question)

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2019-07-13 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Tachibana winced. Even knowing... having talked with the younger version of Jules' self...

"...Tennouji was the same. Head of my company. He almost caused the total destruction of the world, so that he could remake it in his image, and rule over it as a god," Tachibana explained before looking away and giving a small, almost bitter snort.

"And you'd think I'd learn something like that too. But I never do. I'm still the trusting fool, no matter how many times I've been betrayed by someone like that," he admitted with a faint, wry smile. "Anytime I to lash out first... I'm always hitting the wrong person, so it's probably just as well."
suspecteverything: (thinking)

[personal profile] suspecteverything 2019-07-13 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like we're both on opposite extreme ends of the spectrum when we could really use to be in the middle."

A lot of the people Jules knew had learned the lesson Tachibana still couldn't learn the hard way. They'd been so brutally betrayed that any trust anymore was basically non-existent. It certainly wasn't a pleasant way to live, but it did keep them all safer. Generally.
triggerhappytraitor: (Just want to live like normal people)

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2019-07-13 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Tachibana nodded with a faint smile. "I'd say maybe we'll rub off on each other, but I'm fairly sure we're both too stubborn and set in our ways to change that easily."
deathfindsaway: (« [Hm] like watching a trainwreck)

[personal profile] deathfindsaway 2019-07-13 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[That's an even more gruesome thought, but it would make... sense, through it all. He won't say that though, with the full knowledge he's kind of done enough damage here.]

Right. My apologies for trying to, er, take control of the situation, I suppose. I recall when I first was granted many of my abilities, I was very confused about how to really use them. It's a finesse that takes a long time to learn, but I know you have not been granted that kind of time.

[Not that that's anything Tim doesn't know, most likely.]

Perhaps you can ride this out at the bathhouse? What with all the water.
suspecteverything: (laughing)

[personal profile] suspecteverything 2019-07-13 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Jules barked out a laugh.

"Damn. That's terrifying. You know me far too well."

For him, it actually was a little bit terrifying. The number of people who really knew him could be counted on both hands, if that.
deathfindsaway: (« [Despair] that is some SICK SHIT)

[personal profile] deathfindsaway 2019-07-13 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh damnit. She just starts touching him instead, which feels incredibly weird to be this small versus a hand, and he ruffles up but doesn't snap at her as she does. Damn these restraints. Fuck it. He's going to try this.

He opens his beak, emits some kind of round call, and then starts to kind of... refine it. It's low chattering, a strain not unlike vocal fry, as he tries to push for whatever noise he needs out of a bird's vocal cords. He's never taking telekinesis or his mouth for granted again, this is terrible.

But after a few attempts, a croaked out izz and zaaaa he manages one thing--]

Pizza!

[Fantastic. He got one (1) word. Probably should have been his name, but somehow he's just really fixated on this instead.]

[personal profile] triggerhappytraitor 2019-07-13 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Tachibana couldn't help a faint laugh himself. "Stubborness is easy to spot. I stare at it in the mirror every morning," he pointed out. "And you can blame Hajime for making it even more obvious. He's worse than even I am, and that takes some effort."
postictal: (what a sad fucking panda)

[personal profile] postictal 2019-07-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Can't say I do.

[Apologetic tone, not that he expects she'll be surprised. He has a bit of an eclectic taste.]

Sounds nice, though.
postictal: (freddy fazbear cant touch me)

[personal profile] postictal 2019-07-13 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming I don't set anything on fire.

[Didn't all this trouble start because wouldn't stop messing with Io? He doesn't know. He gave the Box a tape, and that was enough to get it to leave him the hell alone. Should've known better than to think that would be the end of it.]

I d-don't think this is mine. It's not me.

[If it was his, it'd be burning him alive.]
catpiper: (thats how i see the attitude of a man)

[personal profile] catpiper 2019-07-13 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
What songs do you know?

[Since he doesn't want to make up any and doesn't know the dank moon lullaby!! Show her what you've got up your lyrical sleeve, Tim.]
postictal: (like i kicked him in the puppy)

[personal profile] postictal 2019-07-13 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing you'd know.

[He's played songs before, right? He doesn't remember. Probably not best to demonstrate now.]

One of these days I'll get a jukebox for Denny. One that runs on mana pool water or something, I dunno. Show you songs from my world.

[Boy, does that bring a smile to her face. There's nothing she wants more than to listen to some music now, but this was supposed to make him feel better, not her. She doesn't have fire forming in her palms. The talk seems to be distracting him a bit though.]

Would that make you happy? Do you want to listen to those songs again? Which one was your favorite?
postictal: (dissociation station)

[personal profile] postictal 2019-07-13 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Picking a favorite song is kinda like picking a favorite pet.

[A favorite kid, he doesn't say. He doesn't, uh, have any kids!!!!!! No sir.]

I miss 'em sometimes, sure. One thing I miss about home. [He hasn't realized it, but the calm drone of conversation has caused the flames issuing from his hands to die down to a faint, relatively painless sizzle.]
catpiper: (gonna drown myself in pudding)

[personal profile] catpiper 2019-07-13 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a mood. It would be nigh impossible to pick between ESP, Egg or any of the animals in their camp. She wouldn't be able to manage it. Everyone's a big fav.

Her eyes flicker to his hands and she tries to not let it linger there for long. The scary fire's going away-now she has to make sure it doesn't surge back to life somehow.
]

Does a 'jukebox' have every song from your world? Do a lot of people sing there?

[Her attempt at looking annoyed hardly succeeds as well as it would have in her own body. This one is smaller, more compact, although arguably less aches as well... Not that she wants to remain in it!

Her lips do purse though.]

I woke up like this.

[Still sounding so very less than pleased as her nostrils flare.]

Need some proof? Fighting on the ship, you told me that "You can't win, Carolina, but you can come with me." I passed on the offer.
postictal: (begging for help im screaming for help)

[personal profile] postictal 2019-07-13 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. It's more like...it's got songs that you gotta pay to put in there. And you pay for the box to play them, like a recording of an old performance.

[Talk automatically, issue the words quietly, calmly. Focus on the words, on speaking aloud.]

Probably wouldn't charge anyone here, though. No one's got any money, for one.

Ginko got his footing and shook himself in a somewhat ineffective attempt at dislodging some of the leaves and dirt from his fur.

"Dammit-- this is going to take some getting used to." He almost hoped it wouldn't last long enough for him to get used to it - though maybe it would be better than being a troll if it ended up being long-term? Time would tell, he guessed.

"Yeah. You've told me about him. Seems like all of us stubborn bastards tend to draw to each other for some reason."

All of Jules' friends back home had just as much of a stubborn streak as he did. That and a wide trace of asshole in them.
