I’ll take my throne, lay it on a mountain
Who: Our volunteer mountaineers
What: Two parties split up to scale the mountain from two sides, planning to meet at it’s peak. Shenanigans occur along the way.
When: September 13th to 16th
Where: Group 1: G3, H2, G2 || Group 2: F3, F2, G2
Warnings: Please note any warnings in your subject headers!
Word spreads quickly in a small community such as this. What was originally intended to be a small party turned into something much larger- and on the day Chara planned to leave for the mountain, it’s not one, but two parties that make off for it’s peak.
OOC: Welcome to the mountaineering open post! Keep in mind the following;

Group 1, led by Chara, moves off during the early hours of the morning, seeking to search the furthest part of the mountain by following the river upwards. The path is longer and more winding- however, they are unhampered in when they can travel.
Group 2, led by Ardyn, takes off after the sun has set- due to the needs of multiple members to avoid the sun’s harsh glare. Their route takes them up the closest side of the mountain, which provides an easier path- however, they may only travel whilst the sun is set.
OOC: Welcome to the mountaineering open post! Keep in mind the following;
♆ RNG was happily done blind by our wonderful Guzma mun, with our animals RNG'd by Wade Wilson's! Thank them both for all your misfortune.
♆ Prompts have been provided for each group below! Simply toplevel wherever you wish and treat this like a normal open post!
♆ Since each group will generally be in close contact with one another, consider asking others if you can threadjack here and there; nothing says team-building like being a nosy parker.

Who's there?
He knows who's there, it's that sweet girl he met on the raft, back at the beginning of this all, the one voice of unspoiled reason, naive and wonderful, in this whole mess. Sans plays along without a single shred of hesitation, because if it's one kind of person he knows is down for a good time, it's the sort with no guilt to accompany their joy.
People like her, full of love without LOVE.

A talking skeleton with a permanent smile is definitely near the top of her list, but any skeleton that can tell good jokes (or bad ones), and create laughter out of thin air is their own kind of magician.
Maybe he'd appreciate her thumb removing trick.

He's crossing his arms over his entirely unimpressive chest, being a skeleton of no greater than five feet in height and certainly not remarkable anywhere else.
Honestly, there's nothing remarkable about Sans, other than his persistent affection for jokes and puns -- the worse, the better.
no subject
"Bless you!"
And gosh, doesn't she look so proud, too. Her arms match his and cross over her chest. Bring your game, skelly man.

This time, Sans doesn't physically knock his bony knuckles on the door, but grins at Luna as he starts anew:
"Knock knock."
Ok, this is fun.

Maybe he should make a joke book? If they can find some paper. Maybe they're written on the inside of his head? Can he see into his skull? Is that a personal question?
"Who's there," Luna says eagerly, leaning her back against the door. An adventure forgotten, for a simple moment of joke-telling.
What a cool skeleton.

"Orange," he answers, droning those two syllables lazily as he rocks back on his heels -- the colorful LEDs in the soles blink cheerfully -- and, pushing off, he lets the little wheels in the heels carry him across the stone floor. Yep. Probably the best thing he's ever gotten since he woke up on that raft.
This is nice. This is helpful. They might be struggling to survive, but they can't be too bad off if they're able to spare a moment for bad jokes.

He's a very fashionable, plump skeleton, for what it's worth. The galaxy hoodie is amazing-- and makes her think of a recently acquired chart of the sky at night. Maybe he's into that sort of thing?
And those shoes, girl. She rolls onto her heels and glances down at her own shoes. Yup, still there, still covering up her socks, still keeping the dirt and water out of the toe-region.
It'll do. And she's more excited about the joke, anyway.

Sans is far from fashionable; it's others who made the decision to dress him in galaxy print. All Sans needed was a replacement hoodie (though why, he can't recall) and something sturdier than his ruined slippers.
Besides. There's still mustard and ketchup stains on his t-shirt, and his track shorts haven't been washed in literally over a year. Apparently, Sans has caught her glancing at her own shoes, because he hunkers down and pulls one off, taking the sock with it.
"I got these from the storyteller. You wanna try 'em?"
Sans, that's gross.
no subject
"What, but," he doesn't even leave his socks on, and she covers her mouth to stifle a louder laugh. He's ridiculous. And good. "I, u-um...I think it's wheelie sweet of you," she starts, unable to keep the smile off her face. Her cheeks hurt!
"They're probably not my size, but...I appreciate you offering! They're really cool!"
What a good friend she's found. ♥

None of those ever smelled as musty as the snowfall of the village in the town where he and his brother lived, once.
Sans makes a show of shaking out his sock and shoe, putting each on in order.
"Wheelie," he repeats, with a chuckle. "Nice," he adds, and means it.
"What about you, kid? You ask 'em for anything?"

She pulls her bag from her shoulder-- the poor thing is worn already, a strange scroll sticking out of one side and the sound of small items clinking together echoing against the walls. The scroll is pulled out and unraveled slowly to a very slow moving constellation chart. It remains somewhat empty right now-- decorated with soft, meaningful dots to represent starts.
Despite it not having much on it, she seems very happy with it.
"It's a chart of the stars! I can see them from the islet where I live, through a hole in the ceiling...it's really nice to sleep underneath them. They were really bright back home! I-I...uh, I don't know much about them, though," she adds in with a little bit of a sheepish grin. "Just that I like them!"
no subject
As she unrolls the scroll, however, he knows immediately what he's looking at, even without her explanation.
He had a notebook full of little dots and scribbled observations of a night sky entirely different - and distant - from the one they see here, after the sun sets.
"..." Sans has forgotten all about putting back on his sock and shoe, dropping both to hobble closer, until he can kneel and press a searching hand on the chart. "Cool," he finally admits, understatedly awe-struck. "You like 'em, huh?" The skeleton asks, scrutinizing her, until he remembers that she must if she'd specifically requested this.
"Same," Sans admits, "They're really outta this world, heh heh."
no subject
"Do you like them?" Maybe the stars are really bright where Sans is from. Maybe he has a chart of his own. Maybe he's from space. Wouldn't that be amazing? Regardless, he's here now. She stands next to him and holds out the map as far as she can in front of both of them, pointing to a nameless, shapeless cluster of faded stars. Not enough to be a constellation.
"There's...not a whole lot right now," Luna admits, not trying to sound disappointed, but it can't help but leak out of her voice. She looks to him. "We might have to wait a while for something to show up-- but when it does! We'll be ready!"
no subject
Ok, ok, but seriously. Sans rests an arm across his bent knee, unable to peel his eyelights from the star map for longer than a few seconds, and that's only to have a gander at her expression. Judging her interest as sincere, he continues.
"Heh heh heh, you sound pretty excited about this. You want a stargazing buddy? My calendar's lookin' pretty clear these days."
It's always clear. Sans never keeps a calendar. Or a schedule. Not anymore, anyway. "For humans like you, you probably saw 'em every night. First time I saw a star wasn't 'til, well. Uh. Almost two years ago. Never gets old."
no subject
"Oh, of course!! Yeah, I'd love to have you along!! We'll have to find a good spot to look at them!"
He continues, and Luna sits down on the ground, holding the map out in front of her but looking at him. That's, uh, quite a confession of information. It's a little saddening. Couldn't see the sky? How do you not see the sky? She looks down in thought. Maybe he doesn't want to talk about it? Maybe he does?
"They're the best!" Luna agrees happily, spreading the paper out on the ground. "I'm glad you got to see them! Someone was telling me before that they don't have names here...maybe we can think up some really, uh..."
She pauses. Thinking...
"...star-tlingly cool names for them!?"
Ah??? Ah??? She looks so proud of herself!! That was a pretty good one!
