i'm looking for an easy thing [ OPEN MINGLE ]
Who: Anyone and everyone! Who wants to look at books?
What: BOOKVALANCHE
When: Let's say from the 25th and onward for simplicity
Where: The Storyteller's Temple, in addition to the library that's finally getting some much-needed attention
Warnings: Mark anything that comes up!
The library is finally getting some renovations! Between some new bookshelves (hope someone here is good at hauling) and a veritable cascade of all sorts of books and supplies, an awful lot needs to be transferred from the Temple to the heretofore unused library, and any help anyone has to offer is much appreciated!
But, of course, there's also so very much to go through for your own perusal. Just look at all this! Coloring books, puzzle books, stories of all sorts, comic books, fashion magazines, all sorts of survival texts...you name it.
This all needs to be put away and stored in those neat little waterproofing book protectors - shelves need to be moved, supplies need to be secured, and someone should probably take inventory. But also...there's a lot of fresh new reading material on an island that previously had none.
Isn't that worth looking over?

gasp a cute
It's mainly pictures, as comics usually tend to be, but there's text boxes and the like strewn in there as well. The boxy pictures are bright and vivid, and the artwork truly pops. For a painting goddess, it's pretty easy to see why she picked up this book right away. Not only that, but the story is engrossing and exciting!! This is so much better than a picture scroll!]
:-)
It must be good. Ammy is wagging her tail, delighted with her find. Yasha turns a page carefully, perusing it.)
How do you know how to read? (She says eventually, turning back to the page Ammy had been reading, and offering it back to her.) You are a wolf.

The question actually has her blink, then begin to laugh in that way only she can - wheezy, rasping, almost like a hyena's cackle with her tongue bobbing from her lower jaw. Yes, she's a wolf, of course, and most wolves probably don't read, write, or paint. They probably don't speak, use magic, run faster than the wind itself, or glow in the darkest depths of night either. It'd be so easy to tell Yasha the truth of what she is, but where's the fun in that? Where's the mystery? Humans need to figure these things out for themselves.
Though...she will give a small hint. She looks around, trying to find a place where she can write, not wanting to damage any of the books or scrolls here already, then just opts to write on her own flank. She is as white as a fresh piece of paper, so... The character is small, and just a few simple strokes. One single character, that means everything to some and probably nothing at all to others. But it's the answer she gives--]
天
[It means heaven.]

Though not enough to keep from literally daubing words across her own flank. Or at least Yasha thinks that it's a word? The character doesn't mean anything to her, but she still traces it slowly across her own palm with her index finger, trying to remember it.)
I don't understand, (she says finally, a hint of frustration creeping in.)

Magic, too, is mysterious, as are gods. Ammy could tell Yasha right now - she has the capability - but why? What fun would that be? What would she learn, if given the answers? Ammy looks around the library - small, but already filling with knowledge. Have a look around...maybe the answer is hidden away in a book or a scroll.]

It's clear she isn't going to get any by standing here. Yasha's eyes narrow, and then she sighs, and lets her arms drop. If she wants to know, she will have to figure it out by herself, huh.)
Fine, (she tells the wolf, acknowledging her little glance around the library with an exasperated look,) I can do my research. Don't think that I won't figure it out eventually.
