With a quiet month behind them, those on Ensō will be greeted by the new month with even more quiet days, weather only just beginning to take a turn for the immensely hot as summer begins to loom on the horizon. For our newcomers, this is also the scene in which they’ll find themselves waking; washed up on the island's shores, meeting interesting people, missing some key items, and gaining some new ones.
This peaceful time to greet one another and collect yourself won't last long, however. As the sun begins to rise into the sky, the quiet air will be disturbed by shrieks of surprise, dismay - and triumph. There is no new creature set to wipe out all life, no elevator from the sky, or clown box to chain. No. This month, the new arrivals have been set upon by Ensō's deadliest and most ruthless creatures.
Their fellow adventurers.
Ensō: Give Me One Drop
Last month, adventurers eagerly participated in the Storyteller's request to coat the island in protective ink, one of many steps the local god has been taking to keep Ensō, and its occupants, safer than they have. However, a great many variables to account for inevitably leads to something falling through the cracks - such as what to do when new arrivals arrive on these heavily protected shores.
Though they’ll have time to "automate" this process in the coming months, for now, the Storyteller once again humbly requests some assistance. Nothing harmful, of course, but...well, it does need to be done. In order for the new arrivals to be protected and not considered a threat by the local contingent of flocking, fluttering pages flying on the breeze, they'll need to come in contact with the base material that ties these protections together, and a lot of it. That base material being ink.
Welcome to LifeAtr, dear newcomers. Please excuse this very necessary, absolutely reasonable hazing. At the very least, all signs of ink on your personal items - and person, at that - will fade away within twenty-four hours.
And of course, the option to retaliate is yours for the taking, if you can find a bucket or water gun. There happen to be quite a few lying around on the beaches when you first wake - and they're all loaded, too.
Monsun and Ensō: As the Heavens Set Fire
Those of you who have been with us for some time may remember a time when a rather costly item request was involved in placing a mana pool on Monsun's western desert half, so as to bypass the verdant east. The mana pool in question seems to have been...lost, for the time being. It's not clear what happened to it.
Until now.
You see, Monsun didn't take kindly to you throwing its idea of balance out of balance. With the artificial placement of a mana pool on the western side of the island, it seems that hardly anyone would have any reason to visit the east, and that simply won't do. When the landscape shifted, the mana pool wasn't just lost - it was broken, its stone containment shattered, scattering its magical, greenish fluid to the sands.
It's just terribly unfortunate that it was some of Ziziphus's displaced population that were the ones who found that precious mana first. Ziziphus's creatures are most notable for being an even blend of plant and animal. Thus, they could soak up those juices by their roots...and flourish.
Perhaps you'd be inclined to call these variants something catchy, like...a Rootwyrm +1, for example. Whatever the case, you can be assured that these "improved" variations are larger and stronger than their ordinary counterparts and tend to regenerate damage, having sustained the mana pool's "recharging" capabilities. And, because mana pools have multiple uses, they can also teleport - which would be how they've managed to reach Ensō, despite originating on Monsun. Thankfully, they're fairly distinctive and might be easy to avoid from a distance. They're larger and more vividly colored, for one, though they're also much more hostile by nature. It's likely they'll require a significant amount of teamwork to be successfully taken down, or at least driven back to Monsun.
Let that be a lesson in where you ask to set down your mana pools.
All new arrivals will awake with knapsacks, their names stitched to the front. The contents of said knapsacks can all be found in your acceptance notices!
As a final note to those who participated in the Test Drive Meme, bear in mind that those threads, if all parties involved would like, can be game canon in the form of dream-like memories involving a place very much like this one, though the layout is considerably different.

[Ink. There's ink everywhere. Bright blue with a strange swirl of black. Water guns that shoot ink are strange... how did they not get gunked up? Anyways. It doesn't look safe as Nari watches a puddle of it with some curiosity. She has a stick in hand and at times pokes it to see if the swirl will move.]

[This redhead is more than content to watch people go after the plant creatures. She's sitting in a relatively 'safe' location and taking notes on these critters. Why? Why not. None of them have come close to attacking, and she is not going to get closer to them. There's no need to at the moment. Anyone can join her in her observations. No guarantee she'll be sociable, but an attempt can be made.]

Kiriya Kujo | OTA | will match format
Well. That's new. Kiriya sputters awake there on the beach with a start and sort of pats himself down to make sure he's really there. The next order of business is to retrieve the Gamer Driver and Gashats that have washed ashore beside him, and after that, he's got everything in the backpack that oh-so-conveniently has his name on it and contains a few supplies. There's a "Sweet, nuts," to no one in particular as he roots through there, and then he's off with one backpack strap loosely draped over his shoulder, whistling a bit as he walks.
Not that he has any damn clue where he might be heading, but well, he'll figure that out as he goes.
[Enso - B]
OKAY LOOK SO THESE WEIRD PAPER BIRD PAGE THINGS ARE KIND OF JUST A LITTLE ANNOYING and anyway there's now a bright yellow motorcycle rolling away from them. It's got a knapsack draped over its handlebars, and it is also yelling at said birds. "Oi, you guys knock it off already! I'm not sharing my nuts! Or anything else! And don't crap on the paint job!" It's a constant stream of complaints and insults as he tries to get away, really. Between that and the sound of the engine, Kiriya's probably going to attract some attention. Nothing about the bike is quiet; even its paint job is neon and loud.
[Monsun - C]
"Just keep avoiding the monster from a distance" is not how Kamen Riders roll, and it is with that in mind that Kiriya's cheerfully marching right up to the first monster he finds. (After hearing about them, he's getting over there somehow.) He's got a hideously neon and clunky large thing belted at his waist, and he is looking perfectly confident about everything. "So," he asks the monster as he twirls a gashat around a finger. Just a little closer...

Because what Legion sees is obviously a fellow robot, if one with a rather ... unique design. They are not entirely certain what the purpose is of programming an autonomous motorcycle with fully sapient A.I., but a fellow synthetic is a fellow synthetic and they're here to help!

[One such newbie that washes ashore seems to just be a familiar-looking hunk of space-age armor, the same as Wash's, similar to CT's, Carolina's...but in cobalt blue. (Pretend cobalt blue is this kind of Halo-style blue and not what cobalt blue actually looks like. Shh.)
He lays there in the sand staring up at the sky spread eagle, and one might wonder if maybe...it's just an empty suit, or that whoever might be inside somehow died on the way here. Until he reaches up with both hands and curls them. Not unlike a motion to choke some invisible throat out. Whoever it is seems very agitated about being here, and after giving the sky a good shake, he finally lets his arms drop again and makes to actually get the fuck up.]
Y'know, why do I even bother being surprised anymore. Really! Oh, sure, get blown forward in time, have trippy time travel adventures, fight a bunch of clones, artificial intelligences, sure! Why not this, too! Makes about as much sense as anything else that's happened in my fucking life.
[Yes, he's going to continue grumbling and grousing to himself for a bit as he tries to brush sand off, and then complains about that too, as he tries to get his bearings.]

[Obviously, being new, Church needs to be welcomed with the open arms of paintballs, or like, splats of inky substance, he's not sure what the fuck is happening right now. Please. Please pelt him. He will yell and whine about it.

Rootwyrms are large, weird, and also apparently they just spit acid, that's a thing they can do, that's cool, that's fine. Don't mind Church running the other way, covering his head. There might be something nasty hocking a nasty one in his general direction.]
What the fuck is that, whAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!
[Which is, naturally, about the same time he trips up over a plant beast hauling itself out of the dirt looking real angry.]
Anyone have a god damn flamethrower, or a-a weed whacker or--fuck! [Now he's gotta dodge an angry vine-y charging shit too.] Order in a napalm strike!

[The problem isn't that it's coming from someone who's supposed to be dead (when isn't it?) or that it's not immediately apparent which version it is (this one has a body, which at least narrows it down), or even that he's not sure whether he should be prepared for this one to be married or not.]

Tachibana | OTA | Just starting with the flailing and brooding for now
It was a variation on the usual dream; floating in the ocean, being drawn in by a voice speaking of purpose and reason, waking up on an unfamiliar shore and then being almost instantly attacked with no way to defend himself. The voice hadn't been Karasuma's this time, and instead of Darkroaches, it was animated paper birds, but his Buckle was still broken, leaving him unable to do anything but swing his arms uselessly at the invasion.
Normally, the dream would end when his flailing resulted in him falling off of his cot onto the cold floor, or smacking his arm into the wall, startling him awake and cutting the scene mercifully short. But that wasn't happening this time, leaving him continuing to attack a seemingly endless swarm of respawning enemies...

Sayoko awakens blearily on the shore, memories of a rabbit's strange explanations still running through her head. She rolls over, pushes to her knees, and after a moment spent staring in wonder at her surroundings, remembers something important. She was very, very badly injured. She was quite likely dying. And now...? With a little gasp she starts to pat herself down, but it's a quick process. A little pressing on her chest and abdomen and it's plain that her ribs are no longer shattered, and there's not so much as a speck of blood on her clothes. "What... how...?"
She must be dead, then. This must be the afterlife. Because all of that before... that couldn't have been a dream. Could it? "Oh..." It's an awful lot to process. With a long sigh she falls back onto her behind and runs her fingers through her long hair. She's going to need a few more moments to pull herself together.

With her composure more or less found, along with a nice new backpack with her name on it, Sayoko has set out to see what there is to be seen. The dream had mentioned others, hadn't it? Others, and stories, and... it was already starting to become fuzzy, but she was fairly confident that she remembered the most important bits. It all seemed fairly pleasant and benign... at least until the paper birds spot her.
She stops and regards the approaching flock of them curiously... but it's a short-lived curiosity when she's positively swarmed by them. She lets out a shriek and starts to flail her arms to try and bat them away, but it soon proves futile... and realizing that, she starts to run, instead. There must be somewhere she can hide! Something she can get under, somewhere she can go. And if she can manage to keep on running, maybe she'll find what she so desperately needs.

This past month was much less stressful than previous ones, which has made it easier for Asgore to keep the date in mind. He's already expecting the next group of new arrivals fairly soon. So when he sees the human woman sitting out by the sea, he guesses what's happened. "Good morning!" he calls, still from a distance. People are afraid of him sometimes, which is completely understandable. "Do you need any help?"

[Jester has a little experience with guns... however, none of them were, uh. Super Soakers. They were all horrible, misfire-prone muzzleloader nightmares. So she just has no frame of reference for the weird, colorful things littering the beach she woke up on.
But, she definitely knows what a bucket of colorful ink looks like. She's carrying one around, dipping her tail in and using it to draw... giant cartoon dicks in the sand and on nearby trees. Cool. There's a few 69s too. Just to spice things up.

Anyway, this little blue tiefling has menaced most of the area by now, but she doesn't seem liable to stop anytime soon. As she works, she's sort of talking to herself...?]
Hey, do you think this is the island that guy talked about in my dream? Did you, you know, send him to me? I know you can hear me, Traveler. I didn't know you could do stuff like this! Is that rabbit guy your friend? They seemed super cool, but also not as cool as you. Are you listening? Oh, this would look good with some flowers...
[Yeah, she's just gonna... keep rambling to nobody, apparently not noticing anyone who walks up, too caught up in concentrating on her drawings.]

[Oh. Yeah, okay. Jester has faced down dragons before. Or like, one dragon. A baby dragon. And it almost killed her.
And she's facing one alone again. Not... cool.
Thankfully, the thing hasn't seen her yet. Still, she doesn't really want to engage alone, and... she'd rather just sneak the fuck out of here, thanks. She tries to cast Pass Without a Trace, making a gesture and whispering some words in some long-dead language.
Hm. Okay. Nothing happened there. ...Neato. Did she forget to prepare it today? Maybe... Actually, she does feel a bit... disconnected from her divine power here.
Ooookay the dragon is getting a bit closer. Jester hugs the brush she's hiding against, hopes it doesn't smell her. If she could just go invisible for a few seconds... She rests her hand against the holy symbol at her belt, wrenches her eyes shut and tries to Channel Divinity...
Nope, still visible.]

[Aaaand she realizes too little too late that her expletives gave her away, both hands covering her mouth and her eyes wide. The plant-covered dragon turns its head her way, and it starts to charge toward her little bush hideout. Jester just takes off like a dart, dashing solely with the intention of making as much distance between it and her as possible.

And that's a fun game to play, until she hears the sound of a couple people talking. Or rather one person talking to herself? Maybe she's on the iStone. It doesn't look like it from her position though, so after her final 9000000, she slowly ambles behind the horned girl.
There sure is no one there. And she sure doesn't have that rock in her hand. Hm.]

Zidane Tribal [OTA]
[Zidane is far away from home. Far away from the people he cares about and those who were the closest to family he has ever had. Far away from the home he belongs– where the girl he loves is waiting for him. And with no known way to get home and the possibility he might be stuck here for a very long time, the young thief has every reason to be miserable about his situation.
However, he chooses not to be. Because he is going to make it home somehow. He has to. He just does not know the way back yet. However, if he managed to make it to this world, surely he can find a way out of it, right?
So, with a smile on his face, he decides to go and get his bearings. Find more people in his situation. Because the chances are, there are people from other worlds who are stuck in the exact same situation as him. They should stick together!
Although what he does not expect is to find a random bucket on the ground and a…….toy of some sort? Machine? He doesn’t know. Since the closest thing to a gun, let alone an ink gun, Zidane is familiar with is a canon on a ship or airship, he picks it up, puzzled.]
Huh? The heck is this……?
[And as he inspects it all over, he accidentally presses the trigger. And so the next passer-by is going to be covered in ink. You’re welcome.]
B - As the Heavens Set Fire
[Well, that weird activity made him wet and covered in ink but it is actually pretty fun! And hey, he can find a place to wash off, right? Even if it’s a lake or something. And it seems to be for a good cause anyway. Now pretty familiar with how the ink guns work, he looks around, seeing who he can target next. Hey, are you under attack from those flying pages? Because you might need help!

[The past month was low-stress enough that, this time around, Asgore was keeping track of time and fully expected the new arrivals around now!
What he didn't expect was everybody else here absolutely losing their minds and chasing the newcomers around with weapons. Ink weapons, yes, but still - isn't it alarming enough for them to find themselves here without getting unknowingly drafted into the ink games? So Asgore's opted out of the games for now. It was fun when everybody was in on it, but now it just seems sort of mean-spirited to him.
He'll be wandering the beaches of Enso with a large bucket of ink in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. He's specifically searching out new people who are having bird troubles; when he notices someone unfamiliar, he'll approach them calmly and (hopefully) clearly with no intention to throw his bucket of paint on them.]

He's currently attempting to fend off one of the spindlanks from the populated areas of Enso. Between his trident and his horns, the big spider-thing is having some trouble executing its usual bodyslam attack from above; this piece of prey is just super big and pointy. It's mostly swiping with its legs, while Asgore swipes back with his trident and lets loose controlled bursts of flames to startle it into scuttling backwards more. Maybe he can convince it to go back to Monsun?
It'd help if there weren't other people around for it to attack.]

Ginko did his best to avoid the chaos that broke out across Enso when the inking frenzy was in full force - but, now, he'd rather not risk letting any new arrivals go unprotected.
He reacts as soon as he sees movement, and whoever may happen to have stepped into his line of sight will find a bucket's worth of deep green ink being flung at them. So… you know. Enjoy that.
“Sorry about that, but it's for your own good.” At least he's apologetic about it.

B - Plant Attack
Okay, so, listen. Listen. Ginko is a scientist. Not a conventional one, by most worlds’ definitions, but a scientist. And he is extremely curious about these newly altered creatures from Ziziphus. He knows better than to get too close, but nobody could blame him for wanting to observe from a distance, right?
Apparently, once it noticed him, the rootwyrm could. The first spatter of acid hissing against the ground dangerously close to him was the only cue he needed to take off… but he can definitely still hear it trundling after him, through the woods. Crap.
He's busy enough with escaping that he almost doesn't notice when he passes by someone else. Once he does, though, there is no way he can risk leaving them unaware. “Hey! I'd get out of here if I were you.”

Starflight | OTA
Starflight barely had time to investigate the curious bag with his name on it before the paper flock found him. Instinct took over and he immediately sprang for the air with a yelp, hoping to outfly them, though he wasn't quick enough to avoid all the sharp, stinging edges. He'd only ever heard of birds flocking older or invalid dragons, and even then the tales seemed farfetched, yet here he was getting chased by the strangest, thinnest birds he had ever seen.
He wasn't the most talented flier around, but that didn't mean he was going to let himself be caught, twisting and darting through the air as fast as he could, his knapsack clutched tightly in his talons. As they started catching up to him he swooped down quickly towards the beach, the best opening to far for anyone looking to target the aerially evasive newcomer.

Starflight slunk through the jungle, trying to keep to the shadows where his normally dark coloration would lend him some amount of camouflage. Of course, he was currently drenched in multicolor ink, so that wasn't doing him as much good as it normally would. He sighed, shaking his head and wings again to dislodge as much of the clinging liquid as possible. Which was when he noticed the movement in the underbrush. Or rather, when he noticed the movement OF the underbrush.
His eyes widened as the plant beast made its impending attack evident, and scrambled for the nearest tree. He had spent enough time in the RainWing Kingdom to know better than trying to fly with all the jungle cover. Starflight's claws dug into the bark as he pulled himself up and out of the way just in time, but in trying to get onto a perch he overbalanced and flung out his wings to compensate, getting himself tangled in the very vines and branches he had been trying to avoid. He watched the plant beast below repositioning itself after its failed lunge, and yelled in hopes someone was around.
"HELP! Anyone!"
Maybe if he was really lucky one of the often invisible RainWings would be around.

So he sighs and grabs a ink gun before taking off into the air. He can't let this poor bastard just go like this, and no one on the ground is going to get this sad sack soaked any time soon.
It's definitely not a human that comes flying up at Starflight, firing off a few sprays of ink, but bits of him still look the part and maybe that's overall less comforting than the alternative.

It'd be almost comical if it wasn't for the look of almost blind panic on her face as she looks around, like she can't quite believe that she's here and that she hasn't simply woken up back wherever she came from. ]

[Izuku's no stranger to weird dream-conversations, getting warped against his will, or teleportation-based kidnappings, but he's still not sure what to make of waking up on the beach. He might not remember any kind of villain attack happening, but he doesn't remember falling asleep either. It's more than a little unsettling.
He knows what his training says he should do. Assess the situation, take stock of supplies, look for others, attempt to contact help. Basic emergency separation response. But as he's getting ready to start, he discovers something more important that he's gotta take care of first.
People nearby will be treated to a high-pitched yelp and the sight of a green-suited teenager...desperately trying to salvage a wet pocket notebook.]

At least it makes for a flashy and easy-to-spot fight - a kid in a green costume, covered in green lightning, bouncing around at inhuman speed while a rootwyrm bites the air in his wake and spits acid all about. [For those of you who see Beauregard frequently- you live by islet 2 and can hear her yelling, see her at the Denny doing her best to contribute to depleting the island of alcohol, or just make the time for some reason- may have found her strangely absent after the paint shenanigans had died down. Y’know, it’s funny sometimes how quickly things can happen, especially in a place like this.
