In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for your efforts to paint the town; whether you do it in teams or solo, or if you're just going to be a curmudgeon who ends up getting doused with neon glitter through no fault of your own.

...let us know if your character, for any reason, happens to die during this event. Hopefully this won't be necessary, unless someone here is fatally allergic to ink. Hence, death penalties will not be reduced, because anyone who perishes from a simple inking probably has it coming.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] February 18th: The mana pools gain a function that allows them to double as pools of ink, facilitating their use in painting the island over.
[ ♆ ] February 20th: The monthly Storytelling occurs.
[ ♆ ] February 23rd: The mana pools lose their inkpot function, leaving behind only whatever ink you might have saved.

[He's totally innocent and not at all scheming!]

You sure?

[He's not going to wait for an answer, though. He'll shoot Allura right in the chest.

It's incredibly satisfying.]

[She'll believe it when she sees it.]

Posi- [-tive... She blinks, brings up the paintgun again, and aims for his left side with a playful glint in her eyes.

It's on, now, sharpshooter.]

[He laughs, trying to jump out of the way of her muzzle.

This is going to be good.]

[He succeeds, if only barely. Though it only means more of the surrounding landscape is covered in glittery cyan. so who's really winning here?

Eh, who cares (she does)? She's firing again. Come on, Lance. It's not nearly as fun if you don't shoot back!]

[Listen, it's the small victories that count.

Lance will fire back gladly, whooping as he aims for Allura. It's still different from his bayard, but they don't call him sharpshooter for nothing.]

[Uh-huh. Sure.

Allura turns just in time to avoid getting blasted in the face, but this means her long braid is now coated with blue ink. She pauses, diving for cover behind a tree, before firing again. She will get him back for that one.]

[Lance crows in victory, already halfway behind a tree when Allura turns to fire.

He feels pretty proud of himself, if he's being honest. It's not every day he actually has an advantage over someone, but he's a pretty good shot and it seems to be translating to the paintguns.]

Nice try, Princess!

[Allura quiets, hiding behind her own tree. She will get him back for her hair, just you watch. For now, though? She's waiting.

And waiting...

Knowing him, the moment she peeks out he'll get her right in the face. Hm...

She spots a rock roughly the size of one of earth's soccer balls not too far out of reach. She ponders it for a moment, before hefting it up and throwing it to the side one-handed. Hoping it'll buy her enough time to get in a shot before the highly probable ink-to-face thing.]

[Well, that does manage to distract him. His gaze follows the rock - he's not quite fooled by the movement enough to shoot at the thing, but it does give her an opening.

A very, very big opening.]

[Aaaand she's taking it. That's all she wanted, after all; for him to stare at it and ponder it as it goes flying. She ducks behind the tree again and laughs.]

I certainly thought so~

[Bring it, Lonce.]

[He's been bamboozled!! He scowls at the rock and Allura's tree.]

You're not going to get me with that again!

[He can wait here all day for the perfect shot.]

[Allura grins, unseen from her hiding place.]

Well, good. That would make this a rather dull game.

[Falling for the same trick twice would be absolutely shameful, so instead she leans against the trunk. Two can play the waiting game.]

[Lance hates the waiting game. Sure, he has more patience now than he did when he was still just a student at the Garrison, but. Still.

He doesn't really want to sit here forever.]

This isn't a game, Allura! This is a mission.

Mm-hm... [And yet they've turned it into one, just like they have with most other things.

Honestly though, she's just trying to bait him again.]

[Listen. Life is a game, most of the time.]

Don't you want to help the Storyteller?

[Okay, he can't just sit on his thumb forever. He eases out of his hiding spot, knowing this is going to be a terrible idea. But, whatever, it's just paint.]

[By the time he's easing out, Allura's already pointing her ink gun in his direction. And she fires again. Really, Lance. You're making this far too easy.]

Of course I do. [Aaand she just realized she left herself open while saying so.]

[And that's all Lance needs, really. While it sucks getting hit with paint, if he can fire at Allura and get her back, it's fine.

It's a give and take.]

So you don't mind this, right?

[She stares at him for a brief second and fires again.]

Not at all~

[Her hair ;~; it's all blue now.]

[Lance laughs, firing back.

This is the most fun he's had in ages.]

[And cover is officially forgotten in light of this. It's almost like the food goo fight all over again not long after they all first met, and it brings a smile to her face thinking about it.

It has been a while since they've had fun like this, hasn't it? She fires back, laughing. At least she makes it harder for him by strafing to the side.

[It's exactly like that - it's just having fun and making a mess for the sake of it, and it gets Lance's minds off the islands entirely.

He does a pretty decent job of tracking Allura, but a lot of his shots still miss. He's doing a pretty good job of making everything blue, at least.]

[And she's doing a great job at making everything around Lance (and potentially him as well) a shade of bluish teal. Also sparkly. Thanks, glitter-ink. Eventually, she runs out of ink and holds up her hands - gun still in her right.]

I'm out of ammo! [She's making her way closer to the mana pool...]

[The glitter is what's really going to stick around. Oh, well.]

Alright, alright.

[He's getting pretty low himself.]

Do you want to call a truce now?

Truce. [She agrees, smiling sincerely.] Though you have to admit that was fun.

[C'mooon, you liked it Lance.]

[He smiles back, a spring in his step.]

Okay, yeah, that was pretty fun. Haven't had fun like that in a while.

[Probably not since he was still in space.]
