JANUARY EVENT: FADE TO BLACK

What: Your true self comes to roost
When: January 21st - 23rd; January 25th - 28th
Where: All over!
Warnings: Dark subjects such as violence and self-destruction are likely to come to the forefront - please mark your content accordingly!

Down in that Darkness

This log is primarily for the Shadow and Light portions of the event, for ease and convenience. Your Shadow can be either the Persona-inspired sort - a "brutal, bitterly honest recreation of a character's worst flaws, darkest fears, and deepest secrets" - or the edgier, more laughable variant. The Lights, on the other hand, will do their utmost to convince their real selves of their best qualities, no matter how little they want to hear them.

Remember that the Shadows will be present from January 21st to January 23rd, and the Lights will be present from January 25th to January 28th.

On January 25th, we will post a separate log for Rejection Rooms!

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] January 20th: The monthly Storytelling occurs.
[ ♆ ] January 21st: Shadows of both initial variants appear.
[ ♆ ] January 23rd: Shadows of both initial variants disappear.
[ ♆ ] January 25th Lights and Rejection Rooms appear.
[ ♆ ] January 28th: Lights and Rejection Rooms dissipate. Those still trapped in their Rejection Rooms by the event's end will suffer a character death.

Don't put this on me Nezumi. [There. A spark of annoyance as Shion scrubs tears from his eyes. He doesn't want to fight Nezumi, not when he knows it won't take much for Nezumi to decide he is not worth the hassle, to walk away and never return.

But Nezumi can't pretend this is Shion's choice. Shion's choice is always Nezumi.] I want you to stay Nezumi. I can't say it any clearer but if you want me to go, I will.

[He's not a little boy, but he is scared. He's lost Nezumi before and will lose him again but it still scares him.]

[ Nezumi stays much longer than he would have imagined. In the future Nezumi hasn't had a chance to experience, Shion stands up to him, and instead of walking away, he admires the fire, the strength it shows. Few people stand up to him in the same way and received the same favorable opinion.

But this is the shadow, born of a heart twisted by the dark realities of the world. ]

Such a coward, unable to even accept the decision on his own. I'm asking you to leave.

[ Close enough. If Shion leaves, the real Nezumi will see that everyone has their limits, even his precious Shion. ]

So go already.

[Shion blinked, saddened. But... If Nezumi really wanted him to go... It goes against all of Shion's instincts to leave him but Nezumi has made it clear. He doesn't care about Shion. He doesn't want Shion around.]

I'll go. But if you need me at all. You know how to contact me...

[He says it but he doesn't actually move. Not yet.]

Well? What are you waiting for?

[ This isn't going as well as the shadow wanted. Shion was supposed to go without being pushed this far, and now, Nezumi's had to take a more active role. But he can't be the one to leave. If his plan to make Nezumi see Shion's real weakness is going to work, Shion has to walk away. ]

Is the king waiting for his carriage?

No I... [What was he waiting for. Nezumi had made it very clear that Shion wasn't welcome.

But... It feels wrong. Instinctively wrong. If he walks away... He shouldn't. But he also shouldn't impose himself on Nezumi.]
