November Adventure: It's Easier to Bury

NEW ISLAND: MAATI
Who: Everyone!
What: Maati appears, and a new adventure begins
When: November 10th and onward
Where: Maati
Warnings: Tag as you go!

I Pray for the Ground to Swallow Me Whole
As of November 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Maati.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square, within the temple of the avatar that dwells here. Their temple is a sturdy thing, built into and around the chestnut trees that thread deeply into its very construction. The symbol of the eagle can be found nearly everywhere one looks.

Three guesses as to what shape the avatar of this land assumes.

Welcome to the new island of Maati! As the island is now accessible, feel free to create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for exploration! For further information in regards to the island, or plotting, the following links may prove handy:

[They nod their beaked head, once.]

There are dangers. Most are wild creatures that do not bear the same notion of justice as sentient creatures.

(They nod.)

Such dangers are common. We will ensure that we are prepared.

Dangers other than wild creatures?

The terrain can prove treacherous. There are not very many resources here for the...

[A pause here. They seem to be searching for the word for it, and in the end, they fail to locate it. They are not one for words; that duty falls to the Storyteller.]

There are not very many resources here for organic consumption.

(This is expected.)

Acknowledged. We are not organic.

(Legion sometimes states the obvious.

After a moment, they headtilt curiously.)

Synthetic consumption?

(Legion does not eat, and they doubt they're going to find usable plastics to repair themselves in a place like this, but...)

[The avatar inclines their head in acknowledgment of that fact; as someone who states the obvious quite often themself, they seldom call attention to when others do the same.]

This land hosts certain veins of ore and metals beneath its surface, if you are willing to dig for them. You are welcome to, as long as you do not uproot this island in the process.

Acknowledged.

Geth seek to minimize environmental harm.

(In their universe of origin, Geth obtained resources from asteroids. Activity on Rannoch was limited to cleaning environmental pollution and preservation of structures. Legion understands the importance of limiting impact.

Additionally, this island is their home, not Legion's.)

That is kind of you. Not all are so considerate.

[The words are grateful; their tone is not. Anbaki does not impart their words with much inflection unless they can help it, it seems.]

Geth had no need of planetary environments or their resources. To take them from those who do is ... unnecessary.

(Geth were good robots, at least until they were all destroyed.)

There are many who succumb to greed. It is admirable that you do not.

[As flat as their pronouncements are, the sentiment is, at least...genuine.]

Our capacity for temptation is limited.

(They wouldn't consider themselves as admirable, just different.)

Perhaps. But it is still a virtue.

[Charity, that is. The lack of greed. It is meaningful.]

What is virtue from one perspective may not be from another.

(Perhaps their actions are virtuous. Perhaps they are not.)

This is true, [the god says, measured and even.] But just because something is not a virtue does not mean it is a vice.

Affirmative.

Our lack of temptation is primarily a result of our differences.

Sameness is a quality that few creatures share among one another.

[Or even among themselves.]
