OCTOBER EVENT: FEELING LIKE A GHOST

Who: Anyone and everyone
What: Your past returns to haunt you
When: October 10th and onward
Where: All over!
Warnings: Character death, as well as potential for discussion of trauma and suicide ideation - please mark as you go!

You can find most of the information you need in the OOC info post! In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for the duration of the event. While this log will focus on the past portion, you're free to use it for the future portion. As always, you can also make your own logs if that's your preference! Come the 21st, however, we'll likely get an additional log up for those who want to play around with their future echoes as well. Remember also that the present portion will be played out in Mu, during this month's Storytelling.

Remember to let us know if your character dies during this event. Bear in mind, however: death penalties will NOT be reduced for this event.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] October 10th: The ghosts of the past appear.
[ ♆ ] October 20th: The warped Storytelling occurs, the Storyteller returns, and those who have died are revived.
[ ♆ ] October 21st: Future echoes replace the ghosts of the past.
[ ♆ ] October 25th: With equilibrium restored, all visions vanish, and life returns to how it was.

She disappeared as soon as it started happening.

[He hasn't had any luck seeing her face to face, is what he means.]

If I'm lucky, I can get her on one of the stones, but she hasn't been... [She doesn't respond as often, now. It's getting less and less frequent.] She's not responding.

[That's bad. Real bad.]

Any favorite hangouts? Dangerous places she knows about? Any ways she's afraid of dying so we know what to rule out?

[Alright, so we're already there.]

[What does he say to that? How does he explain that C.T. has died twice now, and went into both situations knowing she probably wouldn't walk back out? How does he explain that he might have been one of her closest friends in the Project at home, but that, in the end, he didn't really even know her?]

She's not afraid to die. I just don't think she wants to believe she will.

[Again.]

I don't know where he'd take her, and she's not talking.

[She just kind of sighs, because this guy is not helping and she doesn't even know how to help. Maybe she shouldn't be getting involved, but she got concerned, and now she's here. Damnit. Shoulda found weed guy instead.]

Course she doesn't. Mine's like that too.

[Just to really sell the damn thing, she holds out her hand towards him.]

Well, come on. Now you've gotten me involved. You're welcome. Let's go.

[Wash, for his part, is not optimistic of their chances. It's not generally his job to be.]

[But if she's bent on making something of this and helping, then he's not about to tell her no. Throwing himself into something productive is more useful than lying around and waiting for things to change.]

[Something he knows full well.]

You know we're likely to cover more ground splitting up.

I mean yeah, I have no intention of babysitting you.

[She has less investment in this, which is good for as sensitive a situation this is. But it's something to do, something distracting, something that might actually help someone. Wasn't she supposed to be doing more of that?]

You can call me on the rock if you see her. I won't approach or whatever, you can do all of that, seeing as she probably won't wanna talk to some rando. But I'll call.

Thanks, [says Wash, the word a wry, sarcastic pull. Not very fucking reliable, is he? No. Needs to be babysat. Needs to be watched over. He'd rather be disparaged and underestimated than treated with kid gloves any day, but that doesn't mean it feels great.]

[Any irritation he can afford is vague, displaced, temporary. There's too much to worry about to allow himself to get hung up on that, so he doesn't.]

You're probably right about that one. Just...calling is our best bet.

[Sorry, Wash. You probably need someone better than her. Most people do. But she's not the hero people deserve or the one they need right now. She's just a mess that does things that are helpful at least 75% of the time. It's not a bad ratio.]

Look, I don't know what I'd say to her. But if I see her, I'll call you and trail her until you get there. Unless you have a better plan.

...yeah. Yeah. Sounds like a plan.

[But he doesn't say it. Of course he doesn't say it. He'd probably come out sounding like someone who's just had a stroke, to anyone not familiar with Freelancer-styled terminology.]

[She'd just assume he was saying gibberish, yeah. The on my mark sounds correct though.]
