OCTOBER EVENT: FEELING LIKE A GHOST

Where: All over!
Warnings: Character death, as well as potential for discussion of trauma and suicide ideation - please mark as you go!

You can find most of the information you need in the OOC info post! In the meantime, feel free to use this log as a catch-all for the duration of the event. While this log will focus on the past portion, you're free to use it for the future portion. As always, you can also make your own logs if that's your preference! Come the 21st, however, we'll likely get an additional log up for those who want to play around with their future echoes as well. Remember also that the present portion will be played out in Mu, during this month's Storytelling.

Remember to let us know if your character dies during this event. Bear in mind, however: death penalties will NOT be reduced for this event.

Event Timeline

[ ♆ ] October 10th: The ghosts of the past appear.
[ ♆ ] October 20th: The warped Storytelling occurs, the Storyteller returns, and those who have died are revived.
[ ♆ ] October 21st: Future echoes replace the ghosts of the past.
[ ♆ ] October 25th: With equilibrium restored, all visions vanish, and life returns to how it was.

[ ann needs this. she's been trying to fight off shiho's ghost the entire day, and needless to say, she's tired. it's been less than 24 hours, and she's already had enough of this. she's had enough of the pain.

she's so exhausted that she won't even make a comment about how, well. talking skeleton. good news is that he's not the strangest thing that she's encountered during her time as a persona user...so she'll take him up on his offer. ]

Sure. What're we playing?

[Oh, how he talks and talks and talks, this skeleton. Inwardly, he's relieved he won't need to go through the whole 'dead man walking' routine--not today, when he just wants to relax. Which is difficult enough as it is, especially with nothing to drown out the ghost's voice.]

Doesn't matter to me. What games do you know?

[ she'll certainly ask him about it later, but today? nah. she's too tired. she figures he is, too. she sits next to him and hums contemplatively. ]

I don't really feel like thinking too much... How about War? Or Go Fish?

[And here he thought he knew every card game there is.]

How about War? If you don't mind teaching me.

Yeah, 'course! It's actually pretty easy.

[ ann takes the deck of cards and deals, splitting the deck evenly between the two of them. she hands hector his stack of cards while she starts to shuffle hers. ]

So don't look at the cards— [ she pauses for a moment when shiho calls out her name, but promptly reminds herself to ignore her. ] keep them face down, and all we're gonna do is flip them over, one card at a time. Basically, whoever has the highest card wins that round. Twos are low, aces are high.

Easy, right?

Sure sounds like it.

[Definitely the simplest card game he's heard of. Huh. He starts to shuffle and now it's revealed that all the cards have skeletons and bones on them.]

Why's it called War?

[ ...fitting. she'll have to talk to him about this...skeleton business when the timing's more appropriate. ]

That's a really good question. I actually don't really know. Huh. Too bad we can't Google here, right?

[...Asks the man who mixes up the words computer and calculator on a regular basis.]

Anyway! Easy enough, right? It's kind of a boring game in my opinion, so we can always chat while we play.

[...Well, if she winds up bored, she has only herself to blame. He lays the deck facedown and flips over his first card. Six, clubs.]

Uhh, sure. Maybe you could try to explain? What's it have to do with cards?
