all we see is light for forever
Who: Connor, Erika, Evan, Papyrus, Pyrrha
What: Do you wanna pick some apples? C'mon, let's go harvest!
When: 16th through the, uh. 21st? I'm gay and I can't do math.
Where: The fruit orchard on F3/F4, G4/G5, and probably H4/H5 but nobody's actually searched those squares.
Warnings: Y'all can mark as necessary.
By whatever manner you ended up in this orchard, whether Connor explicitly asked you to come or you just heard there was fruit to be harvested and showed up, there's things to be harvested and shit that needs to be done. To the north are a variety of fruit trees that apparently came here straight from the Animal Crossing school of "these are the mango trees I planted next to my peach trees." To the south are a variety of nut trees, so this is just a fruitcake in the making really. Unfortunately, nobody's been taking care of this orchard so it's less of an orchard and more of an overgrown wilderness that happens to have fruit in it.
If you're worried about how you're going to transport this fruit anywhere, don't be! There's a mysterious pile of baskets that are suitable for carrying reasonable amounts of fruit by what is (or used to be) the orchard's entrance. If you've seen baskets like them before, you probably know who made them. If you haven't, a basket gremlin did it. Either way you should take one, because you're probably gonna need it.
Well. You might actually want to clear a path to what you're seeking first, but that's up to you.
[ooc: this is a mingle log so feel free to do . . . whatever, really! I'm not the fun police. This is roughly organized by the upper and lower sections of the two orchards we've actually uncovered because there's different things to be done in each square but feel free to add toplevels for things if you want.]

F3 [CITRUS]
Optional tasks besides picking fruit: weeding, if you're into that.]
F4 [ALSO CITRUS]
Optional tasks besides picking fruit: nothing! So that's good if you're just here for fruit.]
G4 [SEED AND PIT FRUIT]
Optional tasks besides picking fruit: clearing vines, clearing withered trees, fixing the fences.]

But Wasps can't stop determination... and also the metal broom Pyrrha carries around. She's now waving that at the swarming insects.]
You-- Ow! If you just let me talk to you- ah!
[They're surprisingly more difficult to hit then the average Grimm.]

[Connor thrusts what essentially looks like bubble solution at Pyrrha. The idea is you're basically, uh. Gonna blow bubbles at the wasps until they drown. I swear this is a real method for dealing with wasps and not something I made up - although I think usually you pour the bubble solution on the wasps? Whatever.]
no subject
Looks at the bubble solution, looks at Connor.]
...Okay. [Of course she takes the bubbles.] So am I supposed to splash them with this, or is it a bit more complex?
you know what i'm here for
That, perhaps, isn't a surprise; every new thing he learns about this place is frightening in it's own right, and he's always had a difficult time fitting in to a world that wasn't half as stressful as this. Still, there are things that could be worth excitement here. First and foremost, the chance to... Well, to start over. To (if he can ever work up the nerve) to get to know people without any lies or any pretending.
Perhaps that's part of the reason why he doesn't bolt when he sees Connor. It's almost fitting that they would run across each other in a place where apple trees are growing. When he notices the other boy nearby, he's near one of those aforementioned trees, and... Despite his best efforts, he pauses for a long moment after he catches his eye.]
Oh. Um... Hey there.
[He's doing well (no).]
no subject
. . . Hey. [Yup. This is absolutely two friends on a perfect day and not two almost strangers trying to remember how human interaction works.] Did you, like. Need something?
[Why else would Evan be talking to him.]
no subject
No! No, I don't need anything. I was just, um, just looking around at the trees, and now you're here too. I mean, you were probably here first. But - we're here. I mean, obviously we are, because we're talking, and... You, you get it. Sorry.
[He looks like he wants to say something else, but whatever it is, it doesn't come out.]
G5 [NUTS AND RELATED NONSENSE]
Optional tasks besides picking fruit: clearing withered trees, collecting dead shit to make compost.]
Erika Fisher | OTA
So, dealing with trees is generally outside Erika’s area of expertise. She grew up a city kid, and has basically remained one for her whole life; the most experience she had with nature before all this was from a brief camping trip when she was in elementary school, and a couple marks that she had to track into the woods. That’s… not a lot.
But, she figures she can probably handle climbing into a tree to grab some fruit. She’s clambered up onto a decently high branch, using one hand to balance a basket on her leg while she picks fruit to drop into it with the other. She frowns thoughtfully at one of the pieces of fruit for a moment before leaning over to hold it out to one of the other pickers. “Hey, this look like it’s got worms or anything to you? I’m not sure about it.”
Honestly, it might be fine. She’s not exactly an expert here.
Taking a Break
Nobody can work forever, and, after a while, Erika takes some time to settle at the bottom of one of the trees with a full basket by her side, and try and… enjoy the scenery, she guesses. And, you know, take a break from being up in a tree, trying to pick fruit without falling out and looking like an idiot.
She picks up a piece of fruit to roll idly back and forth in her hands, frowning at it. “We allowed to eat some of these? Just… y’know, wondering.”
