Reseed the Meadow So the Cows Don't Starve
As of September 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Nuidan.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square. The temple is situated in an oasis-like backdrop of amber-colored sands circled with overhanging palm trees. From the island's center, the four corners of the island and its fixed seasonal shifts are more than obvious: to the north, the rainfall-soaked meadows of spring; to the east, the thick clusters of the trees of autumn; to the south, the snow-capped mountains of winter; and to the west, the warm summer sands and pleasant heat.

And inside the temple? The avatar of the island Nuidan is waiting.

[ They've returned to Nuidan once again. This island is a beautiful place, and the Knight is determined to show their sibling as much of it as possible.

So here they are, holding the Hollow Knight's hand and gently leading them along, walking alongside Chip. Taking their time with it; they're in no hurry.

They want their sibling to enjoy it too, after all. To be able to take things in at their own pace.

They look up at the clouds as rain starts to fall, curious but not particularly bothered by the weather.

(They wonder what their sibling thinks of it.) ]

[The slow, strolling pace is making Chip a little antsy, but they don't want to hurry ahead of their friends. That extra energy spills over into inane commentary, but neither seems to mind that at all for whatever reason and Chip is fairly thankful for that. The pressure they usually feel to act 'right' around people isn't quite so strangling with the Knight, and their sibling has so far given the same freedom.]

[The raindrops are a good distraction, though, and Chip stops to look up at the darkening sky.]

It's...raining! I didn't know it could rain here!

[Enso hardly gave any indication of summer ending around these parts.]

[The Hollow Knight stops as the first drop hits their mask. They just come to a complete halt.

They're wary as they look up, not entirely sure what just happened, only for more drops to, predictably, fall on them. Some drops fall into their eye holes and they briefly let go of their sibling's hand to wipe away the water.

They look down curiously at Chip's exclamation.

Is this normal? Or is it not supposed to happen?]

[ They might have giggled at their sibling's reaction if they were capable of it, but mostly it just makes them a little melancholy. It confirms something they had wondered about more than once, whether they were really allowed to see the city the palace had been built under.

(The way the Hollow Knight looks up reminds them, briefly, of a fountain shrouded by endless rain. They put it out of their mind for now.)

In response to Chip's shout, they simply nod and mime fanning themselves with their free hand, before putting that hand out to catch a few raindrops. It's always fairly hot on Enso, so the rain is welcome.

Despite the rain only increasing, they don't seem terribly bothered. They could stand here all day, if they were by themselves, if they felt the desire. ]

[Chip laughs and nods in response to Knight's pantomime, and looks up at the Hollow Knight with a bit of curiosity. Their body language is a bit hard to read, muted as it is, but they seem confused by it.]

You haven't seen rain before? It's okay, it's just water that falls out of the sky sometimes. It helps plants grow and makes everything cool!

[It just... happens? Water just falls? The Hollow Knight holds out their hand, watching drops fall into it. Rain. They'd heard of it, they think. Maybe. But it's their first time seeing it themselves. ...They seem very fascinated, so their sibling might have to pull them along a little.]

[ The Knight is happy to let them stand there for a while, but they do, eventually, tug them along. They have exploring to do, after all, and they can get rained on and move at the same time!

They point up at the clouds, indicating where the water is coming from. Up in the sky, they understand that much; they had traveled for a long while on the surface, before descending, and so weather isn't a foreign concept to them.

...The grass is starting to prove something of an impediment, though. Mostly, all that can be seen of the Knight is their horns poking out, and they'd never complain about such a thing or ask for help, so...

Someone will probably have to intervene, sooner or later. ]

[Chip laughs and runs ahead of the group, holding out their arms to the rain and jumping into the muddy puddles that start to form. It's different from rain in the city--a fresh smell and no cars splashing them with oily water as they drive past, and Chip prefers this infinitely to the rainy days they've had in the past.]

[But when they turn back...someone seems to be missing?]

Knight?

[The Hollow Knight had been a little distracted by watching Chip run ahead, but at least has the benefit of their sibling having tugged them along in the first place. So when they look over and see nothing, at first, it's confusing but they know their sibling should be close. ...Which is when they notice the tip of their horns. So the Hollow Knight just walks forward, looks down at where they can see the horns, and... bends over to pick up the Knight. Just... Just lift them up, it's fine. Is this better?]

[ They've never been one to complain about difficult terrain, and it's hardly going to start now. They attempt to perk their head up and signal that they're here when Chip says their name, but

Uh, that's proving a little difficult right now. They settle for waving helplessly, at least until their sibling picks them up.

It's another surprising interaction. It's not hard to see how the Knight almost immediately relaxes in their older sibling's grip; any moment of surprise or any reaction that could be taken as averse or resistant completely absent.

They seem very content to be held. They give Chip another little wave. They're here! It's okay! ]

[Oh! The grass was hiding them. Chip smiles and waves with a laugh, running back over to the pair.]

I guess the grass is getting pretty tall, huh?

[They turn to address the Hollow Knight directly, their smile a little bit shy.] If you start to get tired, I can carry them, too! Since, uh, you only have one arm, and... [They don't...want to assume anything of whether it's how they were meant to be made or not, but it doesn't really seem like it.]

[The Hollow Knight looks at Chip and considers this. Start to get tired? Bold of you to assume they've ever stopped being tired. But, no, it's fine.

They adjust their grip on their sibling a little. It's a little tricky, with the one arm, but they manage. Like this, they're a little easier to carry for a longer period of time. And they nod at Chip.

That's okay. All is good here.]

[ The Knight adjusts quickly to their new height, watching the world go past with every sign of enjoyment, clinging to their sibling's hand to make it easier for them. So they don't have to think about carrying them so much.

But, after a little while of being held still, their natural tendency to just...doze off...kicks in. It does speak to their ability to get comfortable even in odd positions - just being held like that isn't the most accommodating position for sleep, after all - but...

After a little bit they just kind of stop moving very much, which might be worrying, but their steady breathing is easy to feel. Their head is drooping, which is the only real indicator that they're now asleep. ]

IT'S OKAY I'M LAME TOO

[Chip trusts the Hollow Knight's judgement, so they run on ahead with a laugh to find more muddy puddles and point out different flowers blooming in the field. The rain starts to come down harder, and Chip shakes their head to get their overgrown bangs out of their face.]

Wow, it's really coming down now! Are you guys okay in this?

[The Hollow Knight glances at their ragged cloak for a moment, soaked as it's becoming. But it doesn't exactly bother them at all. ...They do, however, hunch over a little more - a feat, given their posture is bad to start with - so as to shield them from the rain. Helping.]
