September Adventure: Rain Comes

NEW ISLAND: NUIDAN
Who: Everyone!
What: Nuidan appears, and a new adventure begins
When: September 10th and onward
Where: Nuidan
Warnings: Tag as you go!

Reseed the Meadow So the Cows Don't Starve
As of September 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Nuidan.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square. The temple is situated in an oasis-like backdrop of amber-colored sands circled with overhanging palm trees. From the island's center, the four corners of the island and its fixed seasonal shifts are more than obvious: to the north, the rainfall-soaked meadows of spring; to the east, the thick clusters of the trees of autumn; to the south, the snow-capped mountains of winter; and to the west, the warm summer sands and pleasant heat.

And inside the temple? The avatar of the island Nuidan is waiting.

Welcome to the new island of Nuidan! As the island is now accessible, feel free to begin preparations and explorations in this log, create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for Task completion! [Ugh, another cryptic mother fucker. Why the hell do all these weird, god-like entities have to speak like that? This sort of crap would be so much easier if they all didn't beat around the bush. But at least he got...something from that.

Work hard. Even if you screw up, it's the input not the result. Guzma rubs his face and shakes his head before standing straight with a slight stretch and a roll of his shoulders.]

Fine, I'm in... What y'all need me to do? [SINCE YOU DIDN'T ANSWER THAT THE FIRST TIME. >:C]

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-23 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything, I should think. This place is a mess. Haven't you seen it? The fences are practically crumbling, the animals have gotten out, the orchards are overgrown, and everything needs a good harvesting!

[What they need one to do and what is actually able to be done, however, are two separate things.]

What do you prefer to do? What do you feel good doing? What are you willing to try doing? It's important that you try. Trying is more important than success or failure! The effort you put into it! You see?
yallstupid: (Huh?)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-09-23 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
A-Ah--! [He holds up a finger to stop the mutt mid-speech, before they can continue, because there was something real interesting that was just said there, fido.] Question first - can we keep anything of what we harvest? Y'all said there was an orchard what needs a good picking, and crops what need harvesting... You need any'a that or is the bounty up for sharing?

[Because they did just say a second ago they were more interested in the actual work being done, not the result. So if he can grab some much needed foodstuffs, then that'll be plenty incentive on getting to work.]

As for what I'm good at, well... [He rolls back one of his sleeves and flexes. He's big, he's strong, you figure it out.] And if y'all got a pest problem with any'a your crops, lemme know... M'pretty good with dealing with bugs, too, but them's pokemon...not the weird stuff what's in this world. Worth a shot, though.

[How different can some of them be? Bug like leaves and roots, that's pretty common amongst the whole species.]
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-23 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously. Isn't that what I just said? What good is a harvest if it isn't shared? That's not a harvest at all. That's a hoard. Do I look like much of a hoarder to you?

[They shouldn't. They're not much of a hoarder at all! No fun in hoarding.]

Hmm, yes. Scavengers, they happen about. Pesky creatures. Fences could use some rebuilding. Harvesting, picking, milling, sowing, plenty of that to be done!
yallstupid: (I'd like to buy a vowel)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-09-24 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Guzma hums, opting not to say anything, but the look on his face and the lazy way he shrugs is indication. This shaggy rover could probably hide a house under that mane of theirs. Still, if they get to reap what they sow - literally, in this sense - then Guzma is ready to put in the extra effort needed to help the resident god here. It'll be a good distraction to a number of things going on in his head lately. Keep him occupied, and his hands.]

A'ight, from those'a what y'all just listed, I'm good at maybe...harvesting, picking, and probably repairing them fences. And doing damage control on whatever pests y'got. Bugs or otherwise.

[Because there are more than just bugs in the 'pests' category. Scavengers are one thing, but a hungry fox in a chicken coop is another.]

Most of those are the winged sort. Like to pick at what they can and fly away again. Doesn't make them easy to catch and take care of. Wicked little creatures.

Take your pick, then! Rewards always come to those who try.
yallstupid: (no1curr)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-09-27 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Tch, yeah...never really liked flying types myself. [Guzma, that's typist.] You want 'em just driven off or, y'know...pfft.

[He draws a finger across his throat, then shrugs at Harv's next words. He'll maintain pest control for the time being, then maybe do some picking and repair work. First and foremost, though--] Y'all got the tool and materials we needs to do that there repair, yeah? Y'don't expect us to beat sticks together to make magic happen, I'm hoping.
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-28 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Just keep them out. You needn't break the entire ecosystem.

[They're not so naive to assume that it will be a painless and bloodless maneuver, but they're not looking for out-and-out slaughter here, either.]

Naturally, there's all manner of supplies here. You simply must know where to look. And ask nicely, too! Be specific!
yallstupid: (I don't get you.)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-09-29 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I asked, didn't I?! [Huffing, Guzma wrinkles his nose. He's no barbarian, but certain beasts are more destructive than most for various reasons. He doesn't know! Besides, there could be use for the pests yet, who knows? But fine - basic pest control...he can do that. Ariados' webs are large and strong, they could keep a number of small to medium-sized winged creatures from any crops... And and insects that get caught up would make for a hearty meal for his spider.]

Tch, you want everything done but don't give no instruction...typical. But fine - shears and...idk, planters? Stuff you use for harvesting. Buckets..or pails. Whatever. Stuff to carry fruit and vegetables in - y'got those and where? Also-- [He points very seriously now at Harv.] Milk. ...Cream? Y'got any dairy producing critters? Milta--uh...c...ows? Cows?

[He thinks that's what they're called. Cows, and goats. Maybe sheep? PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HE NEEDS MILK FOR HIS COCOA. AND CHEESE. AND BUTTER.]
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-29 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you to be specific. Not my fault you're not specific without prompting.

Baskets, buckets, the like, all can be found within my temple. [One will always find the exact amount of what is needed for the harvest, too. Isn't that considerate?] Cariborn, now, they can yield milk and such. Some herds to the north, I expect, though they've broken wild by now.

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-09-29 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Guzma purses his lips together, humming as a very snide smile spreads across his face. Oh...the things he could say, if he were less restrained right now, but Guzma swallows his cynicism, and his retort, and just shakes his head. Not going down that rabbit hole today, thank you very much.

He does, however, take note of the information. Good, all those tools will come in handy for what they have to do. If the dog wants them to work, and do a good job, then they should very well provide the tools and materials needed.]

Ah, those're them, uh...Sawsbuck-looking critters, yeah? [Guzma rubs at his gut, where he was accidentally kicked by one of them when he tried to milk one, way back in the day. Not a pleasant experience, and he's since learned from then, but...oof. That's going to make things harder.] That'd work, but I was hoping for like, a...well, a Miltank would be best - ain't no better milk than MooMoo milk - but...it's something.
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-29 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what either of those things are.

[Said frankly, but neutrally.]

If you've some problem with Nuidan's ecosystem, you have plenty of other islands to choose from! Take it up with the Storyteller!
yallstupid: (Bleh...)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-10-01 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
'Course you don't.

[Guzma hangs his head, shaking it with a deep, resigned sigh. Why did he think this god would be knowledgeable about creatures in his home world? Why did he think they were like the Storyteller in that regard? He had hoped, maybe, for something closer to home, perhaps. Something that can be considered a little part of Alola, brought back to him.]

And I ain't knocking nothing, dog, calm down! Jus' saying...would be nice to not have to wrestle one'a them things to get milk...again. [He pouts, rubbing at his chest idly, the ghost ache still there.]
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-10-01 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hm. Hm. Well, they won't argue there. In fact, they'll even make a suggestion.]

There are barns and corrals. Keep them fed and cared for, and they'll be plenty happy to allow you some access to their wares. The wild ones - well, they've plenty of reason to be wary! But tame them, show them a kind thought, and they will surely follow through!
yallstupid: (Blue skies)

[personal profile] yallstupid 2018-10-02 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh...easy 'nuff - like training any other pokemon. [Which makes sense, obviously. Domesticated pokemon, especially those in farms and ranches, are much more passive and friendly than their wild counterparts. But not without the proper work put into raising them.]

So, where're the barns and stuff? Or, uh...the paddocks. I'll work them first then we can wrangle them beasties. Don't make no sense to get 'em in one place where y'all can't hold 'em, yeah? [He smacks his knees and pushes himself up, stretching out his back and shoulders. He's ready to get his hands dirty.] Y'gonna be 'round here if'n we need you, homedog?
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-10-03 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Barns, corrals...all north. Up north, yes. Where there's plenty of grass and room to graze. The barns ought to be intact...can't say the same for the fences and paddocks.

[Harv gives their fur a hefty shake, as though shedding water.]

Naturally. Naturally, I'll be here. Should you need anything else.
