September Adventure: Rain Comes

NEW ISLAND: NUIDAN
Who: Everyone!
What: Nuidan appears, and a new adventure begins
When: September 10th and onward
Where: Nuidan
Warnings: Tag as you go!

Reseed the Meadow So the Cows Don't Starve
As of September 10th, the mana pools on Ensō and its islets will now allow for travel to the new island of Nuidan.

Travelers will arrive on a mana pool situated on the E5 square. The temple is situated in an oasis-like backdrop of amber-colored sands circled with overhanging palm trees. From the island's center, the four corners of the island and its fixed seasonal shifts are more than obvious: to the north, the rainfall-soaked meadows of spring; to the east, the thick clusters of the trees of autumn; to the south, the snow-capped mountains of winter; and to the west, the warm summer sands and pleasant heat.

And inside the temple? The avatar of the island Nuidan is waiting.

Welcome to the new island of Nuidan! As the island is now accessible, feel free to begin preparations and explorations in this log, create new logs of your own, or use this post as a catch-all for Task completion! [And this mountain of a man that comes across to the island looks around with wonder and... honest to gods whoops in delight.]

Hell yeah! [Even from what he can see he knows Tory was right about this. Resources for days. Fuck. Yes.

Look, Harv, he's practically vibrating with excitement. If he had a tail it'd be wagging too.]

You must be Tory's buddy, yeah? Where d'you want me? Lets do this.

[Harv's general attitude seems to be one torn between excitement and anxious distress.]

Everywhere. Everywhere. The pastures are a complete mess, and the mill might be broken for all I know, and the irrigation system is...well, who knows what kind of state it's all in. What can you do? What can you do?

Whoa whoa... one thing at a time, buddy.

[He reaches out to give the canine a chin scritch if he'll allow it.]

How about we get some of these animals back into their pens and then the more mundane types can handle the basic feeding shit while the construction crew tackles the big stuff, yeah? Let us get a feel for the place before we tell people where to set up camp.

How's that sound?

[They will not be allowing it, thank you. The Storyteller has spoiled everyone, letting them fondle and stroke them whenever they would like. Who has time for things like that, when there's so much work to be done?]

How does that sound? I'm not interested in the sound. I'm interested in the doing. Will you be doing that, then?

Gotta have a game plan, dude otherwise people will be doing too much cross over and not being efficient.

[Okay he's kind of adorably flustered.]

We got this. No worries.

A relief. An absolute relief. You know what you're doing? You seem to know what you're doing. It's all right if you don't. We all try our best. Our best is all that can be expected of us! Our best is all that is required.

Got a cat that does a decent job herding, know a couple guys with horses and have been rebuilding some of the buildings... yeah I've got a decent idea what I'm doing. And I've been teaching the others as much as I can.

We'll get things under control, don't you worry.

Good. Excellent. Very, very good. It's the journey that matters the most, you know? The work is the important thing. The dedication!

[Oh, but they do sound genuinely relieved.]

Wouldn't bring a cat, though. Never know what they'll get up to.

He's more plant than cat, it's all good.

[Of course the dog is worried about the cats. It's adorable.]

So... animals, then tools, then water. We got this.

What kind of animals are there around here? Garula? Anak?

Hopefully not Catoblepas.

I have no idea what any of those things are.

[Sharp, direct, dismissive.]

Cariborn. You know those, yes? Also, popo I believe is the term - great shaggy beasts with tusks? Terribly large herds of them in the south. It snows there, you know? Snows ever so hard. They enjoy having a nice thick coat to keep the wind out. Awful good evolutionary decision on their part, I would think.

Bludrocs, too, can't forget those! Egg-layers and livestock, but you should mind the scavengers. Plenty would love to get their weasely little claws on a bludroc egg, and there goes all your time and labor!
piercetheheart: (curious)

[personal profile] piercetheheart 2018-09-13 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Got some pants made out of Cariborn.

Popos... okay and yeah we got a couple bludrocs at home too. That's it? I mean aside from chasing off scavengers and the fit the 'rocs are gonna throw when we have to move them from their nesting spots.

You got anywhere in particular we're meant to be penning these guys up?

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-13 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, there are plenty more. They just get all over the place, and your names for them are so fiddly. The Storyteller, they've got a way with words that so few of us do. Always liked to name things. Naming makes it all more efficient in the long term, but in the short term, well, who has time for that sort of thing?

[Not Harv, apparently!]

Try north. North has all the pastures. All the green grass livestock could possibly want!

[personal profile] piercetheheart 2018-09-13 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
okay... find some shit and herd it up North. Got it.

Names make it easier, sure, but we'll figure it out once we've got a few of 'em.
thankgods: (harvest.)

[personal profile] thankgods 2018-09-13 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm certain you will. Is that all you need? Will you need anything else?

[The prospect of someone getting to work, at last, seems to have them downright excited.]
piercetheheart: (pleased)

[personal profile] piercetheheart 2018-09-13 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure I've got enough supplies at home to cover anything we'd need.

[Look he's pretty excited to get some work done too.]

Good. Very, very good! Best of luck, then. Work hard. Try harder!
